If all underclassman stay the defense will be really good by 2015. With fewer replacements on the offensive line, only losing Smith and Spencer from the wide receivers, we should be left with quarterback as the only big question mark. With the last two Heisman trophies going to redshirt freshman quarterbacks, not being a three year starting quarterback doesn't mean you can't win as long as the offense around you is talented.
We're building a dynasty here. Buckeyes will ALWAYS be contenders from here out.
That is a fact...Buckeye Nation, ALWAYS in the hunt.
Except for the 2011 & 2012 (ban) season, OSU has always been a contender. So yes, and I think its easier to make the top 4 than the top 2.
Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.
Two years ago they'd have gotten destroyed by Bama. Last year they'd have gotten destroyed by FSU.
A contender to reach the playoffs? Sure. To win it all? Rests on QB play almost entirely for 2015.
Fact is, though, we would have played ND in 2102. Bama would have destroyed us, but they would have been on the outside looking in. And last year, FSU might have destroyed our defense, but we would have scored. We would have needed 45 at least to win, but would not have been blown out.
Two years ago it would have been OSU/ND, it irrelevant what we think bama would have done because they took OSUs spot due to a ban. And bama's track record against mobile QBs and spread offenses is not great see Utah, Florida, Tamu, auburn and OU games as evidence. FSU maybe, but who knows OSU was very similar to Auburn in what they ran as an offense and Roby with an extra few games may have started. All I say I would rather have the chance to play in the ncg than not
I agree with Furious George, besides that one aweful unspeakable year that we dont like to think of. Ohio State is never not in the talks for the NC, we have always had a championship caliber team and (fingers crossed) always will. Especially with the all new coaching staff that I honestly believe is the best one we've ever had.

I would like to hear the reasoning behind the'No' votes. Or even better, the 'Have No Opinion' votes. Did they find themselves on a Buckeyes sports site by mistake?
I think we'll be a contender, but I think they're probably considering the loss of Braxton and other key seniors.
Since I believe the Buckeyes are contenders this year, I voted yes...easily.
Especially after OSU407's comment. My first thought was to losing Braxton, but I think JT or Cardale can step up fine.

I am not very smart, but I recognize that I am not very smart.
Can't say until we see what happens with that awful pass D.
And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!
I voted "no," because "too soon to tell" wasn't an option. Quarterback is too big a question mark. You can win a national championship without a true star at QB -- we've seen it happen here -- but it's a lot easier if you have one.

Couldn't "No Opinion" work in your case? Braxton may be gone, but with all the talent built up you just need a QB that can get the ball to the play makers. Most believed Guiton could have lead this team at QB if Miller did not come back and he does not possess the same skills. I think perhaps the better question is will this staff be intact because I think Herman and Warriner is the reason why I am pretty optimistic about the future.
Not breaking in a new QB, will have 1 or 2 close losses, maybe.

I think the only real question you could have would be QB and just think of it like this, when's the last time, besides Bauserman who should have never started, was a new OSU QB not successful with a good supporting cast?
No experienced QB, no way.

Both our D and our OL would be unbelievably loaded in this case. That can do a lot for a QB to gain experience through the year.
The question is as a contender and OSU has always contended breaking in a new QB pretty much unless Joe Bauserman is your QB. It just as much your supporting cast and 2002 is a prime example.
