Choices Yes No Vote Comments Show All Comments VestedInterest 4 Jan 2014, 7:05 am no Not necessarily because of wins and losses, there are plenty of others who would like to be 12-2, but because of regression throughout the season. That's unacceptable defensive play, regardless of reason. AcrossTheField11 4 Jan 2014, 7:37 am This is so on point. Since the PSU game there has been considerable regression... The defense makes me want to cry. And it's even more frustrating that I can't figure out whether its coaching, schemes, or players just not living up to their ratings. How do we whiff on so many high profile guys? Hopefully Urban's last couple classes bolsters this team in the next couple years. Trouble is, by the time our defense catches up, whose going to bear the offensive burden... who is going to play QB? Time and change will surely show how firm they friendship... O-HI-O. DatDudeSA 4 Jan 2014, 7:50 am If anyone is satisfied they are kidding themselves...we are 24-2 with nothing to show for it...miss the tressel dsys where 35 points would win us every single game just because our defense was so stout...we have major issues on defense...and i agree idk what it is are the players really this bad?...are the schemes not fitting the players were recruiting idk whats going on...i mean fickell was on the staff when we were ranked top 10 nationally in defense every year....we got to figure a thing out. "fear is an obstacle to some people, but it is an illusion to me"––Michael Jordan. poop 5 Jan 2014, 12:25 am You miss Tressel Ball, where we rarely scored 35 points? Where our defense had no choice but to get the ball back because the offense had put them in a bad situation again? You can have that and I'll take what we have now. At least it's usually entertaining. Plus Urban is going to fix the issues on defense guaranteed. Ohio State is going to be a monster within the next few years. TMac 4 Jan 2014, 7:52 am NO - Unacceptable Defense and yet BOTH our losses were very winnable. I can handle losing a game when you're beaten, it's just very unsatisfying when you help them beat you. ONE Not Done! Crumb 4 Jan 2014, 7:58 am I voted yes because we beat that team up north. If we do that it's a successful season in my book. "The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War AcrossTheField11 4 Jan 2014, 8:13 am 10 yrs ago, yes. Today, and until they are good again, no. Time and change will surely show how firm they friendship... O-HI-O. Crumb 4 Jan 2014, 8:22 am I guess it's different for me since I grew up in the John Cooper era. "The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War AcrossTheField11 4 Jan 2014, 8:35 am I did too, although I was younger, and I hate UM as much as the next guy, but I admittedly don't take as much joy in beating them when I don't even respect them as a good football program. Time and change will surely show how firm they friendship... O-HI-O. throttlefinger 4 Jan 2014, 8:00 am At the end, losing the 2 games against, inarguably, your best competition of the season leaves a bad taste. If we would've lost MSU and won Clemson, I think I'd be satisfied overall. Then again, it's hard to have satisfaction when the defense is giving up an ungodly amount of yards...at least to someone who still believes a strong D is legacy that should be a part of any Buckeyes football team. Onward to next season and better things. DatDudeSA 4 Jan 2014, 8:02 am One that was really tough for me to swallow was that we couldnt even say were the best team in the big ten...i agree the two toughest teams we played beat us...shows how much work we have to do to be a championship caliber team. "fear is an obstacle to some people, but it is an illusion to me"––Michael Jordan. cajunbuckeye 4 Jan 2014, 8:09 am Yes. I might feel differently if I were a player or a coach, but all I've got invested is some jerseys and a hangover. I put nothing in and got a lot of enjoyment out. It was a win-win for Cajun. An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches fanosu99 4 Jan 2014, 8:41 am Not passing judgement on this staff because I expect things to get better but right now I have the same feeling I had at the end of most seasons when Cooper was coaching. lamplighter 4 Jan 2014, 8:56 am what the hell does "satisfied" mean? 12-2 is a damn good record, but the expectations were higher. I may be satisfied, but I am disappointed. I had hoped that the db would progress, especially after our dismal pre-conference showing, but they did not. Play calling was inconsistent in the latter half of the season - not sure why. All things considered, not the team everyone thought was there. WFNY CentralFloridaB... 4 Jan 2014, 9:03 am No. They had a very good regular season and beat TTUN. However, losing the B1G and the Orange Bowl last night is a major downer. This team has a lot of talent and did many good things. The D has a long way to go. giving up so many yards is not Buckeye football. We expect better. I'm hoping with some of the talent coming in next year it will help to improve the D. dsbgobux 4 Jan 2014, 9:16 am I voted NO because beating TTUN is no longer a good measure of success. They suck! We have visions of crystal footballs now. Looking forward to seeing this young talent use these losses to Improve next year ( and lay 60 on TTUN) Buckeye in PA purgatory Iron_Buckeye 4 Jan 2014, 9:24 am Simply no. Not satisfied, right now. Albeit a successful season @ 12-2 (which is nothing to sneeze at), I had higher expectations for this year's team which I'm sure everyone else in our locker room did too. I am though very proud of the players for giving their all on the field for our enjoyment. I should feel more satisfied right now. I know though after more time to reflect on what this team has accomplished and what the future has in store next season these feeling's I'm sure will change for the better. “The minute we stop expecting greatness from our football program, we become Wisconsin.” Craig Krenzel Hovenaut Mod 4 Jan 2014, 9:25 am Yes. I understand goals were not met, and what the expectations are. I'm far from an expert on the game of football, but I understand the sport enough to realize the shortcomings this team had. Staying positive. Because of the contributions and effort of the outgoing seniors/underclassmen. Who went through a very tough time two and half years ago, only to rise above and make their mark in Buckeye history. Yes, the two losses suck. I hate it, I hate when Ohio State loses. But there's always a bigger picture, always another chance. This program is in it for the long haul, and so am I. Go Buckeyes. http://days.to/7-september/2015 Rock on. Knarcisi 4 Jan 2014, 9:29 am No. 12-2 is a fine record but not the way we did it. Kids made the same mistakes all year and this is not an Ohio State defense. 741 4 Jan 2014, 9:29 am It's reasonable to be unsatisfied. It's batshit crazy to be in full on "fire everyone" melt down mode, let alone sending hate tweets to players. Be better than that Buckeye Nation. RedStorm45 4 Jan 2014, 9:31 am We got spoiled last season winning against nobody. We finally play top 15 teams and sputter. Fan expectations were probably too high coming into the season. Still, two-game losing streak is bad. Youngbuck85 4 Jan 2014, 9:48 am Hate to be that guy but I've enjoyed few seasons less. When we were still undefeated I was more stressed that we would lose or win in a close game because of all the bcs bullshit. And of course the two good games we were in, we lost. Nothing to show for all those wins. Hated seeing stupid play calling leave Carlos, Roby, and possible shazier and Braxton with a loss I'm their last few games CharlieBuckeye 4 Jan 2014, 9:48 am I voted "No" to the above question only in the sense of how he last 2 games unfolded. I was satisfied with the production of the "O" yet not the "D". I am satisfied with 24-2 over two years. Ridiculous. The last 2 games showed me how much more growth these young men have to make in order to play on the big stage. GO BUCKEYES !!! ONWARD TO 2014. "To have a great life simply follow this rule: Do not bring undo conflict into your life..." Charlie Baker - OSU - 1986 BoFuquel 4 Jan 2014, 10:17 am No , those last three games were a disgrace. GO BUCKS! I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then. buckeyedude 4 Jan 2014, 3:57 pm I think you're overly harsh. 6-7 was disgraceful. If OSU had gotten blown out, that would be disgraceful. They should have won both games. I don't see anything disgraceful. I do have a lot of disappointment though. Coop15 4 Jan 2014, 10:21 am Can't say it was success because of the postseason. Tough thing to say too with a 12 win season. Only a handful of teams can have 12 win season and STILL call it a disappointment. Looking towards the future.... Again. "People don't realize how often you have to come in second in order to finish first." -Jack Nicklaus johnblairgobucks 4 Jan 2014, 10:22 am Didn't win the conference or their Bowl Game. Not satisfied, yet. We have some good looking players coming back in 2014, but we need to fix some defensive issues for sure. Urban Ohio 4 Jan 2014, 12:01 pm We need some Silver BULLETS!!! Newcomerstown Trojans between Woody and Beaver. MVJ 4 Jan 2014, 12:33 pm Urban has this team trending in the right direction - recruits, the offense, the team's attack/compete mentality - looking at the state of this program in 2011, things could have been much much worse for us (especially looking at how other programs have fallen off: USC, Texas, Miami, M*chigan, etc.). Having said that, next year we need to win the Big Ten and (at least) win a Rose Bowl. 24-2 is great - but we've beaten the teams we're supposed to beat, and don't have a signature win over a top 10 program. I won't complain about 12-2 and competing well against Clemson in a BCS game, but to continue the upward trend next year we need the return of our Silver Bullet defense and wins in B1G/Bowl games. "You win with people " Iwearmocs 4 Jan 2014, 1:03 pm Of course not. after a night's sleep I'm not disappointed either. 24-2 is a pretty good run, and we had some holes this season. Unfortunately next year the expectations are going to need to be a touch lower. RedsBuckeyeBoy 4 Jan 2014, 1:12 pm I realize that we are spoiled as a fan base. 12-2 with a BCS game appearance is a great season at 95% of the schools in the country, but at tOSU the season goals are: -Win the National Championship -Win the B1G -Win a bowl game -Beat scUM Going 1/4 on those goals, with the 1 coming on the slimmest of possible margins against a bad Michigan team equals a disappointing season in my book. jkrk 4 Jan 2014, 1:21 pm I said yes. This is a basketball question, right? Mute 4 Jan 2014, 3:41 pm Defense regressed significantly for the third year in a row. 0 wins over teams that will be ranked at the end of the year. No conference championship or bowl win. It was certainly disappointing relative to what the expectations for this year were. Huge list of issues that need to be adressed over the offseason Bucksfan 4 Jan 2014, 5:05 pm With the level of competition in the Big Ten being what it is, and having Ohio State dogged to death over it all season to the point where I stopped watching ESPN's GameDay and halftime shows, only to lose in the two games that mattered most, of course it's unsatisfying. Having a coach like Urban Meyer, I don't expect the team to play this way when it counts...I expect the opposite, in fact. The defense actually seemed to get worse as the season went on. It's probably the worst defense Ohio State has ever fielded in living memory. Buckeye Chuck 4 Jan 2014, 5:23 pm We beat Michigan, and that's no small thing. But the loss of our last two games, both as a favorite and one of which cost us a shot to play for a national title, makes 2013 the closest thing we've had to a John Cooper season since Cooper was here. That this season was ultimately disappointingwill be clearer during next season's rebuild, and don't kid yourselves, we are facing one. The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W. bucks15 4 Jan 2014, 5:53 pm The majority of fans had national title hopes coming into the season and we didn't even win a BCS bowl game, so I think the answer is no. It wasn't just the record that deemed it unsatisfactory, but the way we performed on defense and a BCS bowl loss with the intense scrutiny the Big Ten is receiving. Winning last night could have went a long way in helping eliminate the national narrative that the B1G is weak. To get back to the defense, to see these poor results and performances with such talented and highly rated players is absolutely unacceptable, and the fact is we didn't get any better as the season progressed. But we did beat TSUN.... You can't spell... 4 Jan 2014, 6:03 pm I voted no, but now that I think about it, it was a pretty entertaining year. The games against Wisky, Northwestern, and TTUN were exceptionally entertaining. The last 2 games were very disappointing. But that still shouldn't take away from the fact that this team won 24 games in a row. There were great moments with Kenny G and Hyde in their final years. And it was disappointing that they didn't make the NCG or even win the Orange Bowl, but I was thankful that they were finally playing in a meaningful bowl game again, it's been a while and it was nice to see the Buckeyes back. Plus with the amount of talent that will be on this team for the next few years, it will be very exciting to see. I was a Buckeye when they were 6-7, I will be a Buckeye when they are 12-2. Brady Hoke ate my comment ScarletNGrey01 4 Jan 2014, 6:17 pm I do think the future is bright, proud of all of the kids and how hard they competed, 24 - 2 after the 6 - 7 season in 2011 is a darn good turnaround. Looks like the bucks could be offensive juggernauts in the years to come, just concerned (like everyone else) about the defense. The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win. -- Woody Hayes hspbuy1 4 Jan 2014, 7:09 pm I voted NO, I want us to win every game, especially our Bowl game! hspbuy1 Buckeye5000 4 Jan 2014, 10:52 pm "But most especially in 329 days in Columbus, Ohio" 2014 Undisputed National Champions! Patriot4098 4 Jan 2014, 7:09 pm I am both. Squarely in the middle. For all the reasons stated above. Simply put, its football. There's a lot of people in Buckeye Nation that could use some more perspective. "Evil shenanigans!" - Mac Bamabucknut 4 Jan 2014, 10:19 pm Did we win a bowl game or championship this year ? NO Did we win a championship or bowl game last year ? NO Did we win a championship or bowl game the year before that ? NO and you ask "Are you satisfied with Ohio State's season" ? BuckeyeRealist13 4 Jan 2014, 10:28 pm 24% said they were satisfied with Ohio State's season. I would really like to know what your guys' predictions were coming into the season. I'm not saying I'm a championship or bust type guy either, if Ohio State would of beat Clemson last night, I would have been satisfied with this season. Go Bucks! Team to fully support our basketball teams. "You're damn right thats daddy" - Urban Meyer yrro 4 Jan 2014, 10:37 pm I'm proud of this team, but can't say I'm satisfied. In the end, what did we actually win? No national championship, no conference championship, not even a bowl game. We need to figure out what we are doing wrong, from a schematic and teaching point, on defense. We don't need to be dominant, but we do need to be competent. Buckeye5000 4 Jan 2014, 10:47 pm Satisfied isn't the word I would use. We had a pretty darn good season going 12-2 but.....with the 12-0 start and the expectations coming into the season I definately would not say satisfied. Obviously Coach Meyer, his staff, and the current and future players still have a lot of work to do. If you think about it our only losses were to a 13-1 MSU and a 11-2 Clemson so that's not bad but....we also didn't beat any really good teams...just like the critics said. But I have full confidence with UFM at the helm we will shut the critics up over the next few years. 2014 Undisputed National Champions! osubuckeye4life 5 Jan 2014, 1:54 am Buckeye Nation our time will come soon. For now, I'm not satisfied.
