That wasn't just a nightmare then?
ONE Not Done!
Bama really? I want to play Oklahoma..the game we have the best chance of winning.
I completely agree. This has been an amazing run, but I feel that I Alabama would hand it to this team. We just are not quite there yet.
Exactly. Bama=MSU on steroids.
Oklahoma gives us our best chance of winning. I would say 85%.
I wasn't born a Buckeye but I became one as fast as I could.
Bama...I can't wrap my apple pie moonshine hangover around these resounding statements on the Orange Bowl thread about playing Clemson. Why? Bama is the one we should play. Not a two loss ACC team...
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
what do you think alabama would do to our secondary?? they would light us up like a christmas tree. if connor cooke threw for 300+ on us what do you thing mccarron would do?? we and the big10 need to win their bowl games. our best bet to do that would be to face a one dimensional oklahoma team with an average defense.
I guess you guys still haven't had the guts completely knocked out of you yet, so you want to play Alabama to finish off the blow?
whoever it is we would have a month to get ready instead of another grinding week. On top of that we don't have the streak to worry about and its not for a national championship...I'd like to see this team play loose...they were clearly tight in the first quarter and I think expectations really got to them. So yeah..Bring on Bama..although it will probably be clemson.
i guess that means our secondary has been tightly wound all season long............. bama would crush us.
after last night, none of the above
I chose Oklahoma.
“I have yet to be in a game where luck was involved. Well-prepared players make plays. I have yet to be in a game where the most prepared team didn't win.” -Urban Meyer-
I think Blake Bell is the QB least likely to destroy our pathetic, all time worse (and 30 more yds passing will make it the all time worst) passing defense in OSU history, so I'm picking OU. OSUs defense just made two average passing QBs and made them look like Tom Brady the past two weeks.
Blake Bell wants to play tOSU, he want to be on the 2014 Davey O'Brien watch list
Oklahoma is the only team on this list we could beat. Like us, they're a storied program and their fans travel well too so that alone would be an exciting game. Both teams also have had their struggles in recent years...even though we won 24 straight, we escaped quite often vs average to below average teams. Clemson, Alabama, Baylor, Oregon, Missouri would all put up about 80 on our pathetic defense.
"Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit: team, team, team
- no one more important than the other." - Coach Norman Dale
Alabama is the best matchup. Baylor is the least desirable matchup. IMHO.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
OU is the only team we would have a shot at beating. Lots of people are brining up the 1998 team comparison, I think 1974 is probably closer. We'll play tough but probably lose to Clemson (and we'll have to hear 1978 over and over again). Push em back, push em back way back - that is a haunting sound from the last time we played them.
I may not be able to outsmart too many people, but I can outwork 'em.
If we play mistake free football, I don't see us getting handled by anyone. We played one of our worst games yesterday and that mixed with a solid team was a recipe for disaster. Yeah, we lost. But all of those teams listed above have lost, too. Yeah, our pass defense is AWFUL. But the defenses listed there, save for Bama, are no where near what we saw in MSU. Also, there's an outside chance that Christian Bryant will be back for a bowl game, which would be huge for our defense.
Yes, this loss was demoralizing.. but don't forget that we still have one of the best head coaches in college football history and that we have a resilient group of young men.
I want to most play Alabama but it would be best for the team to play Oklahoma or Clemson.
None of them. If that was a choice I would have gone with that. Instead, I just picked the one I thought was the weakest overall and with the weakest overall pass offense.
Bama. If we win it would be a huge momentum builder going in to next season. If we lose, we are most likely firing our DC's anyway so it wouldn't have that much of an impact. I honestly think we could win though.
We would destroy Oklahoma. Their offense is worse than the Michigan offense we saw in the middle of the season.
Baylor would be a shootout.
I think we beat Clemson, but our DBs need to prepare for an all out passing atack of Sammy Watkins.
Oregon would be another shootout, but I think the Bucks would win.
Preferably the opponent who would be least likely to pass!!!
Because we couldn't go for three!!!
Bama would be an all or nothing game. We win and we gain a little respect back and a springboard for next season. We lose and probably get rid part of the defensive staff and yet again hear from the SEC and national media how vastly overrated we are. Not only that we will have lost to the master and the apprentice in one season.
I picked Clemson cause I would like redemption from the Wayne Woodrow Hayes incident.
Clemson, sure. I'll accept that, but only with a slight twist in that Urban gets to punch Fickell and Coombs on the sideline.
Bama. It's the NCG mathcup I wanted, so I guess having it as an Orange Bowl matchup would be a good consolation prize.
And the all the people basing their choice off of "who we we beat," buck up! We had one loss (a painful one, to be sure), but this team can and will show up in their bowl game. Take that to the bank.
"This is a very complicated case: a lot of ins, lot of outs, lot of what-have-yous."
Right with you on this one. And I'm in favor of taking the risk of extending the "SEC narrative" garbage just for the chance to shut it up once and for all.
I can't believe how many buckeye fans are still delusional ? We do not have a defense to stop Michigan or Michigan State and you still think we can play with Bama.
Sometimes I wonder about some of you! Open your eyes, we need a defense that can handle powerful offense!! We don't have that!
its no wonder people say buckeye fans are arrogant stupid..... We give them ( not all fans) the ammo to use against us when they want to rip us apart.
If you disagree with my comments fine! Then we agree to disagree! Life will go on and I pray I wake up the next morning!
stay blessed and go bucks!
Matchup with Bama would not be so bad for OSU. Look at both sides of the ball.
It is Clemson, though, for sure.
wow a Ton of Buckeye fans posting here that should just give in there Buckeye cards. they are just full of FEAR.
No confidence in a Team that has gone 24-1 in two years..
They even Beat MSU at MSU in that run..
I'll rather play Bama..Bring on the SEC overall Best team not in NCG
I'm not afraid at all losing to them.. although, I just don't see it that way.. I see a WIN.. and giving the Sec a black eye..But I guess that's not going to happen.. SAD.
Now I got to watch the Buckeye's Destroy Clemson.. nice win.. but
Not the win this team really needs to end the Season.. A win over Bama in a BCS bowl would Send a Message for Next year..
To be the best you need to play the best......
