Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting!! In the spring our rebuilt D-Line was going to be anchored by Washington on one side and a lot of Tommy Schutt in the middle, injuries changed the who but our D-Line is indeed a strength and some young guys aren't giving the jobs back!! Bosa is a STUD and Jamal Marcus is making the most of every snap he gets!! I seriously think Practice is where our offense is tested the most.
Jamal Marcus has really impressed so far. He is awful quick and seems to have good power too. Last couple of games, he has been in the backfield as much as some of the starters. Love this D-line!
I also voted Jamal Marcus. He is destined for big things here.
On extreme passing downs I wonder if you could slide Washington and Bosa inside while having Spence and Marcus on the outside. It would be hard to pull Bennett off the field I suppose, so maybe it's either Washington or Bosa, but it seems like there would be no blocking that line.
On Saturday night they did have that formation a few times. Spence and Marcus were on the outside, Bosa and Bennett inside. Was pretty effective the few times they tried it on 3rd down and long.
Marcus. He was also good against Northwestern. But Vonn Bell also looks like he's gonna be a player someday.
Schutt was doing a lot of dirty work against PSU. And 90 just brings back so many good Quinn Pitcock memories. :)
I hope Armani Reeves picks it up. He's made a load of mistakes in the last couple of weeks. I'm not sure why he hasn't been passed over by some of the other guys. Nice kid - just hope he gets it straightened out.
Reeves is absolutely lost in coverage every time he is on the field. I don't even know how he made it on this list. I can't help it, but I always think the other team is going to get a big pass play going his way. I don't know why they don't pick on him every single time. He's got a lot to work on over the offseason.
Jamal Marcus is the shiznit. Von Bell looked really good too late in the PSU game and special teams as well.
“I have yet to be in a game where luck was involved. Well-prepared players make plays. I have yet to be in a game where the most prepared team didn't win.” -Urban Meyer-
Agreed on both points.
I thought Spence played inspired, but Marcus seemed possessed.
Bell was very involved during mop-up time, he was at/near the ball quite a bit.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Tyvis Powell isn't really a backup, he's the starting Nickel. He starts if the offense is in a spread formation.
I don't think of Washington as a reserve so much and don't think he has played so poorly, especially as he's been battling a groin injury.
I picked Marcus, though, as I've seen him be able to come in off the bench and make plays immediately. Dude has a burst and strength.
I'm curious if Marcus is horrible in his run assignments or something, because the way he's blowing up on the pass rush makes me think he should be getting starter minutes.
Marcus is an absolute monster coming off the edge on passing downs. I think if he can learn to control himself and not over-pursue, he can become an every down type of guy
Jamal Marcus is an absolute beast.
Marcus has been very impressive. If he is quick off the edge, and has the power to push the tackle into the QB's lap. It's going to be very difficult on 3rd down and longs against this defense with Marcus and Spence coming off the edge.
I do not want to be a RB on personal protector duty when Jamaal Marcus comes off the edge! Good Lord, Dude Brings It!
I voted Jamal Marcus
I remember seeing this back from High School, I played for Panther Creek and they had covered our game and Hillside's game with the same crew that night. You can skip ahead to the 1 minute mark to see what I'm referring to.
Hillside's coach sure knew what he was talking about! Jamal Marcus is a BAD man!
Well the embed didn't' want to cooperate...that's the link, check it out..."Ima say it again! JAMAL MARCUS IS A BAD MAN!" haha
Tyvis Powell 26 tackles 1 Int 1 PD... This really isn't a question
And he's a R-Fr
Jamal Marcus is playing out of his mind right now. The play he made against Penn State that disrupted the pocket really stands out to me right now (he straight up BLEW up the fullback which allowed Spence to record the sack). But I think Joey Bosa should get some love here too. He's listed as a starter now, but for the most part this season, he's been a backup to Desiel Washington....
Adolphus Washington is half grizzly bear and half dragon | Noah Spence kills quarterbacks, just to watch them die.
Jamal marcus plays full throttle every snap he's on the field. He spends as much time in the backfield as the other 34 on the roster. Been seriously impressed with the way he presses the pocket.
When I watch game Jamal Marcus definitely jumps out at me.
