How many bowl teams will Ohio State face in the regular season?

I said nine or more because I'm counting whoever we play in the Big Ten Championship and whoever we play in NCG.

That's a good point. The poll has been updated to reflect the regular season alone.

Not Penn St - Not eligible

They'll still have more than 5 wins.

I consider that a bowl team.

Penn State will still travel to a bowl game, even though they're banned. YOLO

Seven could be the number - tTUN, Wisky, NW, Indiana, Purdue, SDSt, Cal - I have no confidence in Buffalo, Iowa or Illinois, and PSU & FA&M aren't eligible

I have no confidence in Iowa or Ill and Pissu can't go Buff is just an unknown for me Fa&m don't think they make it and Cal im on the fence with them.

If you look at the tie ins alone for the B1G, there are 8 , then assume that Cal will make it and potentially SDSU.  It could be as high as 9.  Although when you consider how many bowls there are now, 'Playing a Bowl Team' loses some panache when you think about it.

TMac's picture

Yeah - 6-6 is a bowl team - that doesn't say a whole lot

I'll be honest, I like the bowls.  It gives the whole holiday season some more fun.  At a boring party or spending time at the in laws?  Watch a bowl game!  You know there is one on, and many of those lessor known bowls are actually pretty good games.

I like the bowls too. It's rare when CFB doesn't beat no CFB, especially on a Wed in December. And as you said, many of those games are competitive and entertaining! - It's just that 35 (or more) bowls reward mediocrity.

When I originally clicked to vote, the poll didn't specify "regular season." I did some other things (morning coffee, morning deuce) then wrote my comment.
(PS - I did not downvote you.)

Buffalo - barely
SDSU
Wisconsin
Northwestern
Iowa - Barely
Purdue - Barely

I went 7 with SDSt and Cal (although they may barely make it) and then 5 of our B1G opponents will make it - Wisconsin, NW, UM, Indiana, and Purdue. The number could easily be 4, but I went the optimistic route as it's better for us if those teams are better too.

It will be a miracle in my mind if more than 6 of these teams make a bowl game.
I've got: SDSU, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Michigan. There might be a chance that one of Purdue, Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana make it but I don't see it. I believe Purdue will be the worst team in the conference this year and Iowa's schedule is brutal. If you look at Iowa's schedule, there are 6 wins at the most with 4 wins being more likely. I think Illinois will surprise some people this year and Indiana has a shot but they both probably need to sweep their OOC games and beat Purdue then the head-to-head game could knock one of them out.

That's seven, not counting Penn State who will finish with a worst-case scenario 8 wins

The offseason begins when your season ends. Even then there are no days off.

I went with 5. Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Michigan are in. Then one of Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue makes a bowl. And out of conference I say either Cal or SDSU makes a bowl game.

I don't think Cal or Iowa makes a bowl.  I've got 6:
Buffalo, SDSU, Wisky, NW, Indiana, scUM
