PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Hope to go one day! Sounds like it would be a fun event to attend!!
I went the first year. To be honest, I found it kind of boring and ended up leaving early...but then again the only reason I went was to see the new HC
If I lived in C-Bus, yes. But the 2,000 mile trek is reserved for games only, usually THE Game.
Needs better publicity to draw more fans.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
Any excuse to get into the Shoe is good enough for me. I've never been, but I bet they'd draw much more fans in if they had some other events, like autograph signings, swag giveaways, etc.

Im not an autograph guy at all, but I agree, a lot more people would go if they marketed it as an official kickoff event. Maybe an all day event with FNL as the main event.
I would like to see them have a Pep Rally or Skull Session start around 5 with the band, Brutus and all other things that make gameday special. Have Urban and the team come through and talk about the upcoming season and such all while the recruits and FNL participants watch.
I don't see myself ever going to one of these, but I think a large turnout would have a greater impact on potential recruits. I'm not sure what the current student ticket protocol is, but they implemented a points based system at FSU that encourages students to attend other varsity sports in order to get priority for football tickets (upperclassmen and grads get higher base points). I think if OSU used a similar model (perhaps they already do), students could get a TON of points for attending this event, giving them priority for the season. I know that there aren't as many kids on campus during summer, but I'd jump on that if I were a student.
My son and I went this year and had a great time. I do agree that they could integrate the fans and put out the word of mouth about FNL more. 11W and a few brief 97.1 FM mentions was the only reason i knew it was going on. Having 15,000+ fans in the stands would be a recruiting plus in my opinion. Still, it was worth the time.
Plus one for the sweet icon
I would "plus one" this but I haven't earned my stripes yet. (I think you need to have a certain amount of helmet stickers first). :)
looks familiar :)
Next year, free room & board @ my place for the out-of-towners. ;)
Agree with the above on getting it into the spotlight. I think some unfortunate storylines took away from it this year. The event is only going to get bigger though. Urban & Co are pretty reactive so if the stadium gets a big audience ... better believe he'll incorporate it more.
I think the outstanding coverage from the writers here makes me feel ok about not going. I will probably go if it becomes a higher profile event
My wife and I went and had a great time. I liked the loud music and was impressed by the effort the recruits put into their one-on-one drills. It was a beautiful night and should be attended by several thousand more fans.
I think I have some photos worthy of posting here. Where can I find instructions for embedding a couple of photos into one of my comments? Thanks.
Found the instructions for posting photos. If you need instruction someday, look at the "How to Use This Site" link in the Resources tab at the bottom of the page.
