What are you most excited about after one day of spring practice in pads?

While all of those choices get me excited, Drayton's praise of Rod Smith is definitely at the top of my list.

My problem with being excited about Rod Smith is that I am excited about Carlos Hyde, think Brionte Dunn is the future, hear great things about Warren Ball, and watched Ezekial Elliott's (spelling?) high school highlights.

I'm excited about every back. All of them. I don't see how this can work. We're just going to have to score 100 points a game and rush for 700 yards.

Of course I'm excited about the passing game improving too.....

I'm fine with that.

Bama has had two good backs every year they win it all.  Ohio State has Hyde, Smith, Dunn, Eze and Braxton.

The freshmen that are coming in starting with Wilson and Marshall bring another gear.  Too many weapons is a good thing.  Should be the best offense since 06'.

Bama does have tremendous depth at RB. The one thing they don't have is a QB that can also kill you with his legs.

I really don't get the Hyde love fest.  Yes he is a good back.

Is he the second coming of Eddie George? Hell no.  You give him a hole and he takes what is there.  You give Rod Smith a hole and it could be a TD.

Two different offenses between George and Hyde. Hyde has proved he can take it to the house and he is a bruising running back. Hyde was really strong at the end of the season and I believe he well be even better this year. He is like a two yard guarantee when you need it. I am excited about all the speed the Bucks will have, but a big bruiser with speed is a big plus.

Tampa, he has earned it through production. I don't get how you can't see the skill.

Plus, hate to throw it out there, but when Rod Smith can prove he isn't a liability with the football then we can have this discussion. Its nice to have a 60 yard breakaway run but Hyde can do that as well and guarantee he holds onto the ball and get a minimum of yards. That to me is pretty special. Plus we don't need a game breaker on the field when we have Braxton Miller who can do that (now among others). Don't need a dynamic running back as much as we need a reliable back.

When Hyde gets those hard 2 yards for a first down practically everytime last year, I think the love fest is earned.

I can't help but love the thought of seeing the D-Line absolutely dominate!

Personally I am excited for HotRod, but for the sake of the overall team/offense I picked the passing game.  We have a lot of great options at RB, but they will all be much more effective if we can stress defenses with the passing game.

We all love offense, but I'm really looking forward to an utterly dominate D-line that is absolutely feared each and every game. I want to see them just wreck the days of those in the offensive backfield each and every play. Gives me goose bumps just thinking about it.

I have to agree with this too. I know the D has got to be strong and it's great to have All-American DBs and a powerful fast D-line, but we have always had great LBs. I hope somebody steps up. Shazier will make sure someone steps up as I think he'll rip some people along for the ride.

I wanna change my answer already. I chose passing game improvement, but I think it could stay the same and we'd be fine, especially with the RB stable and Miller's scrambles.

But that D-line has gotta be good to great. D is always our linchpin and putting the other QBs on their backs is gonna go a long way.

I am with the D line. To me that is what makes a great defense. If Diesel and Spence are demanding double teams it makes things a lot easier on the linebackers in the run game. If they can put pressure in the passing game expect a lot of INTs from our DBs. All of this leads to more 3 and outs for the other teams and more time for Brax on Brax on Brax.

I chose 'other' because they didn't have a 'It's Year Two Under Coach Meyer' option.

I'm kinda torn. I'm pumped about the d line dominance but i wanna hear that the o line is dominating at times too, so i know that they are protecting Braxton so we can have a dominant passing and running game.

Jazzed about the d-line, youth will be served. There's no wrong choice here though.

That's what I'm talking about. What's there "not" to be excited about? It all sounds like great news to me.

D-line Dominance... That sack/ TFL on 3rd down to push the opposition out of FG range is such a game changer.

Love to hear how the D-line is coming together so fast, but a solid passing game will go a long way.  We had a good running game last year, if we can boost the passing game teams will need to stop focusing on stoping the run which will open up everything even more.

Squirrel Master's picture

I think I am excited about the Dline but I think I am more comfortable with the talent that is there. I chose passing game because if it can come together this year with everything else involved, this team won't be stopped! I just don't see it. The running game is elite, the defense has the talent and the schedule is favorable. If Braxton can average 200 yards a game, unstoppable!
