Do you expect to hear any boos when Jim Tressel returns to the Shoe on 11/24?

The fans, I think will remember national championship games and years of never losing to TSUN.

No. Nothing but love for Tressel.

I'm fine with the 2nd option as well. lol

I would recommend using Oral B's toothbrush. They use a very dense plastic composite in their handles.  Probably least likely to break !

I still think Tress should dot the I. We need to stand up and spit in Mark Emmerts' eye whenever we get the chance.GO BUCKS!

I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

Not to mention...having these records next to Woody's

6 B1G titles (7 really...)

1 National Title

9-1 vs tTUN (not sure if they can put that up there but I'd like to see it;-)

106-22 Ohio State Coaching record (.828 winning percentage...not to shabby)

The biggest thing on Tressel's resume is falling on the sword for Gene Smith and the entire athletic department/football program. That's honestly what we should appreciate him the most for.

There will be boos which will be drowned out by the cheers and the shanking.

I'm just glad that he is coming to The Game to be recognized with the championship team. To me the recognition has NOTHING to do with the "scandal" that took place. It is all about the 2002 championship season. If nothing else, he should be cheered because he was a huge part of the success of that year.

There better not be...it will only prove how ignorant "some" of our fans are if they do.  OSU doesn't win a NC in 2002 without JT.  It's just facts...kind of like it's science....

I think the stadium will erupt. I think it could be the loudest I've ever heard for a non-game moment. We will *hopefully* be undefeated, with only Michigan in the way, and tressel, whose diet was made up mostly of wolverine carcass will be in the house for the first time since he left, there to cebrate his greatest achievement as head coach.

While Denard is sitting in the locker room, the floor shaking from noise, he will be quaking in his boots as he listens to this and thinks about his memories from the tressel era

I have been an advocate of Tressel being reconized with the championship team but not a fan of him giving a pre game speech. I feel it maybe a little to early for that as we are trying to establish a new coaching staff etc. However, I had a thought the other night, does anyone else wonder if Tress contacted Meyer to get an "OK" from him? My biggest fear is it takes away from Meyers first UM game.

I certainly hope it doesnt and I know they are both grown men but put yourself in Meyers shoes. You come in and literally save the program and keep it nationally relevent and during your first UM game the place blows up in thunder for a coach that isnt but two seasons removed from sanctions. I think it may make me feel a little unappreciated as in if it were a perfect world they would rather have him then me? As I'm typing this I know it sounds a bit High Schoolish but I want Meyer to enjoy and be appreciated for a victory over UM. Maybe I am reading more into it then what would be there but it does concern me because we want Meyer to be here for a long time. Meyer is a coach who shouldnt be in anybodys shadow.

"literally save the program and keep it nationally relevent"

"Save" is such a strong word. Lets not make it seem as if Meyer walked into a doomed situation. Ohio State could have easily won all but one(not enough offense for a Miami win) of their games last year even with all the crap that went on.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Word. All the time I hear: "National powers like Ohio State and Notre Dame are back this year!" as if we went through some extended period of dark years. REALLY? We were "gone" for one year and all of the sudden our success this year is newfound and akin to Notre Dame finally finding success again? Get out of here. One year isn't even a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things, so I would say we were never really gone.

Yes, may have over dramatized (OSU will always be relevent) but think about where it would have went recruiting wise. We were looking at an uphill fight until Meyer signed a contract. you only have to go as far as the state to our North to see what one poor coaching hire can do to a program. We are way farther ahead then we could have ever dreamed at this point and credit has to be given to Meyer and staff for that. Not sure how you define "saving" but Meyer in company did right a ship that was going south quickly.

Personally I think he will get the loudest ovation of all. He'll get announced either first or last and when he does I expect a standing ovation and the stadium to go nuts. Yes he screwed up, yes he lied to the NCAA, yes he left a bitter taste in our mouths, but he loves Ohio State and he is one of the best things ever to happen to Ohio State Football. I for one will be standing and cheering for The Senator!

I was one of Tressel's fiercest critics towards the end (hence why I began lurking around these parts to begin with) but that's all history now. Bygones, etc. We had one crappy year you could blame on him, but then got an even better (sorry, it's objectively true) football coach. So everything worked out for us. No hard feelings, hope he gets a rousing ovation.

Bucksfan's picture

Results do stand the test of time.  Woody was hanged in effigy throughout his career at OSU, both for his on-field personna and his out-dated style of football.  But, he's a hero for winning and winning a lot.  It'll be the same with Tressel.  In 20 years, some of us might talk about how boring those Tressel offenses were, but I have a feeling we're going to look back on nostalgia at the 9-1 mark against Michigan that he amassed, all the BCS bowl wins, and conference titles.  As good as Meyer is, it's a very, very high bar that Tressel set for the last game in November.

There are some unforgivable losses by Tressel, but there are also a lot more games that we should have lost but won because of him and his players.  Honoring the 2002 season has nothing to do with what happened in 2006 and on.  This is about that 14-0 magic...no more and no less.  So, I think people will be pretty respectful in light of that.

He should recieve nothing but love from the fans for all he did for the university, the athelets he coached and their families by giving them the gift of playing football but more importantly receiving an education to help them when their football lives were over.
