Bo, I was only a second grader at the time. Have seen it on Youtube though. But yeah... that's the single worst incident in sport that I have ever seen.
Can you even call it a brawl? I'd say it was more like assault and battery (like SI contended back in the day). The Ohio State players appear to be swinging only to get enough of a break to get the hell out of there. I don't think Luke Witte ever played another game after he got out of the hospital.
Plus from what I understand Dave Winfield to this day still laughs and brags about his part in the brawl. If I ever see him in public, I might be tempted to spit on that asshole.

never saw the 1972 Basketbrawl until now...that was dirty and ridiculious. Its a toss up for me though...i live in west lafayette home of the boilermakers so dislike for the fans when they get a lucky win is there. But i also dislike baby bielema and wisky.
Penn State without question. Most of that is related to their fanbase though.

Didn't this poll question get asked a few weeks ago with very different results based on who we were playing that week? I can't remember if it was PSU week or MSU week, but I think Sarah asked it with her Skully that week.

I was about to say, we did already vote on this earlier in the year but the results were the same. We hate wisky the most in the big-ten. (after mich of course).

I wouldn't say I hate any other team in the B1G. In my opinion it is who is the next biggest rival. My disdain is reserved for one team and one team only.
PSU is #2 for me. I can't stand McMoxie. And PSU fans are so arrogant really for no reason.
Wisky is #3, MSU #4 and actually IU is #5 because IU b-ball fans tick me off.
As a grad student at Illinois who wears OSU stuff all the time, Illinois fans don't give me shit whatsoever. So they are really down on my list.

I lived in Champaign for awhile and I second what you said. I wore OSU stuff all the time and no one said much, of course it didn't hurt that OSU never lost to the Fightin' Illini in either football or basketball the entire time I lived there.
We should strive to keep thy name, of fair repute and spotless fame...

It was Penn State until the 2010 game against Wisconsin.
I hate the Penn State fanbase, but I don't hate their football team. They've always just been a decent opponent, with a wonderfully lol-worthy tradition of throwing pick sixes.
I hate playing in Wisconsin. But I know if I went there I would love it. Making your stadium a hellhole for anyone else to play in is what college football is all about. I love beating them because it feels like it means something. Although guys, it'd be nice if you're going to go to the Rose Bowl, you might win it once.
But my biggest hate? Purdue. Seriously, fuck Purdue. How they can play like crap for 11 games a season and just embarrass the big ten, but somehow always play like a super bowl champion against us... I'll never understand it. If you're going to beat us, at least have the decency to be good the rest of the year, too.
I hate them all. I just hate Wisconsin the most.
If we're talking rival, i'll say Penn State. If we're just talking about who I dislike the most, that would be Wisconsin. Everyone from Wisconsin comes off ridiculously arrogant. They always seem like they're talking down to you.

So while I dislike both evenly, I think i dislike the UW coaches and dislike the Penn St fans.
Wisky may even be #1. Granted I have never been to SCUM, but go to Madison for a game, see how high they jump on your list.
Doesn't help that Frat Row is on the same street as the stadium, so be prepared for a complete sea of douchebaggery on your way into the game, with everyone calling you A-hole and wanting to pick a fight.
I do have to admit, I am a sucker for House of Pain, so I sorta dig the Jump Around antics.
Wisky, easily. I have family at State College and West Lafayette, so I'm not quite as hateful there.

It was Penn St for me until I moved to Milwaukee 7 years ago. I could tolerate Biff Bielema and the cheeseheads the first couple of years, but especially since 2010 my life at work has been unbearable during football and basketball season. They can be quite obnoxious most of the time.
All because of that dirtbag BB. That is all.

I lived in PA for 6 years (through highschool), while I hate Michigan it is at least a resepectful, rivalry hatred. I have no respect for penn state and I hate them just as much as Michigan. And this hatred was even before the whole sandusky/denial/cult ordeal that recently transpired. Every penn state fan I have met is a complete dick and almost all of them actually think they have a better football program than us (seriously...). They will call o$u (lolzzz) thugs and Tressel a cheater, while in the same conversation defending Paterno with their life. I could go on, but I'm just pissing myself off. Fuck. Penn. State.

Due to recent history, I despise the Wisconsin skunk beavers with all my heart. The 2010 game against us is the reason I am decidedly no longer welcome at the San Francisco Aquarium (a long story for another time). I can't stand their snivelling douchebag of a coach, smug-looking mascot, and inevitable losses in high-profile bowl games to make the B1G look even worse than it actually is. Watching Texans games on Sundays and hearing the name J.J. Watt brings an involuntary growl to my throat.
That said, Purdue's miraculous ability to upset us even when they're epically bad puts them at a moderately close third. They gave us Holy Buckeye Part 1 and Part 2, though, so I can't hate them that much :)
