This was an easy one. Being a Buckeye and a Seminole, there's really no other choice.
I dislike the LSU fan base for how my wife and I were treated during the bowl game. BUT after destroying us in football and handling us in BBall, both for a title, I have to dislike Florida more. It helps fuel my hate that the company I worked for at the time was headquartered out of fl.
Ever since I was a kid, I have hated Florida. No apparent reason, I've just never liked their coaches or players. Florida is by far my least favorite SEC school. A distant second is probably a tie between Tennessee and LSU. Tennessee fans are just annoying. They kind of remind me of Notre Dame fans, they have a sense of entitlement though they've not done anything in 10 years. LSU fans, well the movie the Waterboy pretty much sums them up.
growing up as a buckeye fan and a bama fan, it goes without saying that auburn is my most hated sec school. florida lsu and tennessee come in at a close second third and foruth. i still cant forgive tennessee for that sweet 16 game and as for florida, tim tebow. enough said.
I play school
LSU, Bama, Florida. Cant go wrong with any of them. hate all 3
Florida. For the fans, not so much for the 2006 loss.
Why isn't there a choice for "I hate all 12 with equal passion?" Plus, even if we win Tuesday, that might be a permanent sentiment.
Over the last 4 years, I've been trash-talked by Georgia fans, Auburn fans, Vandy fans, Mississippi State fans...teams we have either never played or haven't played in 15 years+. Get them one-on-one, and they'll give OSU its due respect. In a public forum when there's a frickin' SEC mob mentality, they will say that Ohio State wouldn't win 8 games playing in the SEC.
So, HATE them all. Equally.
By far and away it's uk. Having in laws giving me crap about the bucks ruins my holidays every year. Really? You haven't been relevant in football in forever and you hire the sleaziest coach in bball that has five first round picks and still can't win. If there were a city that I would crater without a second thought, it would be Lexington.
Growing up in Cincy as a UC basketball fan, the UK people were intolerable. The Xavier, Dayton, and Louisville fans also couldn't stand them. So, I second that.
I live on the KY side of Cincinnati, about 10 miles from Cincinnati and UK fans are intolerable. However, I don't think their basketball fan base, overall is much different that Ohio States' Football fan base. Very passionate, expect and demand their team to win, very critical of the coaches/players, and not affraid to say why their program is better than yours. There is a smugness to all fans of a blueblood type program which I would Consider Ohio State football and UK basketball to be.
What irritates me, though, are UK fans commenting on Football. It reallly drives me nuts. They have all of 3 memorable wins in their history, yet think tey would dominate the Big 10 because they are an SEC school. Drives me nuts. I also will say, that only 2 times have I felt someone was going to get physical with me over sports discussions. Both times a UK fan got bent out of shape, and the one time I actually liked Kentucky basketball, the guy was going to hit me because I said Tubby Smith was a joke. The other time it was over football, I said Oh I didn't know they played Football in Lexington, and a different dude went Apeshit. He kept yelling ok Maurice Clarett, Maurice Clarett. And how can you talk so bad about your state school?!?! Anyway, those 2 instances made me really dislike UK. I've been to probably 20 basketball games at Rupp Arena, and it's a desintation place to see a game, but I haven't been in 3 or 4 years and won't go back.
"The Kentucky side of Cincinnati."
Isn't that redundant?
Geography fail...both of you.
LOL ....aint that the truth!
***************I BLEED SCARLET AND GRAY !********************
Well if I would've said Erlanger, no one would've known what I was talking about. I'm not one of the people who says I live in Cincinnati though.
I hate their grass. No, not that grass.
Don't take their crap! Let them know buttucky is the like a school for the mentally impaired! Or for the inbred impaired whichever! That includes basketball! They cant touch OSU this year....maybe they can breed somthing in a decade or so.
I read or heard a quote somehwere on Florida football: the arrogance of Notre Dame and the history of Wake Forest.
I voted for Florida because Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow, the NCG of '06, and 25+ arrests in less than 5 years. Might as well be a correctional institution.
Adolphus Washington is half grizzly bear and half dragon | Noah Spence kills quarterbacks, just to watch them die.
There are a whole boat load of reasons to hate Florida, but my opinions and thoughts can be summed up by 1 name. Jesse Palmer.
You forgot to st-st-studder when you sa-sa-said his na-na-name
If Denard Robinson isn't careful with spooning all that food into his mouth, he's going to end up lookin' like Whoopi Goldberg
If you have ever lived in the South, especially MS, LA, or AR, LSU fans are by far the worst. They insult you, your ways, your football team, and if that isn't enough they insult the cuisine you eat. Interestingly enough, the people from New Orleans will open their arms to you, but not LSU fans.
LSU fans are the worst, but I enjoy watching Les Miles pull out the lucky victories. Alabama has Saban so that's close. Florida is the king, although Meyer leaving and not having Tebow makes it possible they could drop.
I don't mind Tennessee so much. My cousin is a huge Auburn fan and I don't mind them. Kentucky is awful. Vanderbilt is so far from an SEC team, I think they are the ringer you bring in to raise the schools academic profile so they aren't entirely a joke.
Florida for all of the reasons already listed. Alabama, which I oddly have not seen listed here, is neck and neck with them. I live in Alabama and let me tell you that even when they were dysfunctional not 5 years ago, they still considered themselves elite. I couldn't compare conference powerhouses, on a per year basis without them throwing their own name in there. I tried to tell them that at 6-5 you aren't considered a powerhouse. They claimed they could beat anyone at anytime on any given day. Isn't that any team in the nation? I always see sporadic Bama gear and Auburn gear all across the state but it depends on what year I see more. Back when Auburn went undefeated in I believe 2005, Auburn shirts flooded my line of sight. The last two years it has been Alabama gear. This year it is back to Auburn. Hell, last year the Ford commercials had Nick Satan all over there commercials and he truly sucked. I wish I had a link for it. It is somewhat comical how dry he is. It is amazing that he can sell his programs to a recruit, then again money talks ehh? This year Ford, the fair weather local company, has Chizik as their spokesman. He is at least entertaining to listen to. It took me a few minutes to figure out who he was though lol. Makes me wonder if all of those Bama fans that bought a Ford because Saban represented the company are now selling theirs now? I think my hate of this state is clinical.
I was at home in Cbus over the holidays and visited Anderson's. I saw a dude with a Michigan jacket on. I remember feeling the hatred in my heart and wondering how he had the balls to wear that jacket in enemy territory. I gave him some shat and dogged on his coach a bit in good humor. Then I wished him luck on the bowl game and getting rid of RR. He was alright but as far as I am concerned, Alabamians have no idea what a true hated rivalry is like. Maybe, I am the one with the issues though?
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
I always see Michigan gear here in Columbus and I'm not sure why. Most of the time the folks have no ties to Michigan either. Maybe they grew up here watching Cooper and enjoyed going against a team their family, friends and neighbors loved? I used to tell people how ugly their coat/jacket/shirt/hat was when it was tainted with that hideous M, but I will admit to not doing it every single time I see it. It does however make me ill 100% of the time and more so in my own backyard....
I went to Ann Arbor on business a few months back and saw not one piece of Ohio State gear other than what I wore. But then again, folks from Columbus or who went to Ohio State don't want to live there.
In Alabama I have fun with hating on _ichigan. Every oportunity I have to yell OH at some shmuck in a _ichigan jacket I take. Bad thing is that so often the folks wearing it give me lame reasons for doing so and don't claim to be a fan. That happens with folks wearing our garb too. I feel like I am on another planet and no one speaks my language. When I see someone that looks like they are from my world, they don't even speak my language. I guess that is why I frequent this site so much. Being away from home has increased my love for the team. It is a strange situation I must ponder upon the tree of woe.
OH! I like you! I am lucky enough to live in the great state of Ohio, but I have family in the south and when I visit they try to hide me from the locals. They know I will speak my mind about the SEC and how over rated they are. They have even offered me money to shut up. What happened to them? Is their somthing in the water down there that makes you loose all intelligent thought?Screw the SEC and thier unknowledgeable fans. We were winning championships before they knew how to flush their turds!
I was in St. Thomas wearing my Woody cap and there was a Michigan guy there who bought me a drink hoping the good karma would earn Michigan a win again the Bucks next year. I told him to quit dreaming and bought him a round in return. A lot of Michiganders know their place in the rivalry. Seems to be a lot of respect for Tress and Bucks. Also much hate for RR and the current situation. Can't blame em for that.
I guess I don't really hate one team in particular. On that list, Florida is one I like the least, but I still like them more than, say, USC or Miami.
SEC fans are basically Penn State fans with arguments that rely on more than just goalpost-shifting, but not much more. That's what I hate about the SEC: they have a point, as overstated as it may be. Four straight national championships, with a fifth likely coming in a couple weeks, is impressive. The teams themselves aren't all that annoying to me, no matter how many times they beat us. It's on us to end the curse, and those teams can't be blamed for taking advantage of clumsy, underprepared Ohio State teams.
Florida easily takes the cake for me. And judging by the results, there are a lot of fellow Buckeyes who feel the same way. I hope they get swallowed by the sea.
Fail . . . all of you . . .
'Bama, not even close.
I am much older than most of you
Yeah, I guess "recent history" rules all. I'd have guessed that Alabama would be out front. Nick Satan got my vote, fwiw.
Yet it's always gratifying to see that even in a thread aimed at the reviled ESS-EEE-SEE, Michigan-rage takes over. It warms my maize and blue heart to know that we've not been forgotten.
Here's hoping for a whole bunch of Big Ten bowl wins, and a whole lot of SEC losses.
Thanks for the respect you show us in your responses on this blog. Now, I have been as nice as I can stand to a W man. That is why we are better, right now. You guys have three other rivals. We have teams that are called our rivals but nothing will ever mean more to us than stomping you skunk weasels into the ground. Respectfuly spoken, of course. Signed: The Buckeyes most violent fan.
I wouldn't have it any other way. You guys mean so much to us, because we know that nobody's lives depend so much on beating us.
I think I actually disappointed some really quality people, good friends of mine, and OSU grads, when I told them that I felt like our rivalry with OSU was good, clean sport, whereas Michigan State was like a family fight, and Notre Dame was pure evil. In the end, you're the target. But out of respect for beating the best, not hatred. I happen to hate a number of other schools, and OSU isn't one of them.
It's generally accepted that there is but one athlete who has a monument/memorial on Michigan's campus. It's Jesse Owens, of the Ohio State University:
(We won the track meet. The two track teams, Michigan and OSU, were a virtual National Olympic team.)
Sorry, but you guys have lost your luster. I will always love kicking your butts but we've broken you. You're not a top team anymore, nor will you be anytime soon. When Tress stopped the pipeline of OHIO talent going your way( which is the only reason you guys where any good) He stopped any chance of you to be half the team you where in the past. Your a 3rd or 4th run team from now to eternity! Where you always belonged.
I'm actually convinced that there is more hate between Auburn and Alabama fans than there is Ohio State and Michigan fans. I'm not saying the game or rivalry is better, but I truly believe they hate eachother more. On that SEC article linked the other day, in the comment section Bama fans were kind of siding with Ohio State and the suspended players, and pointing their hate toward Cam Newton and Auburn. On Oregon's blog, when Auburn guest wrote the entry, Bama fans trolled the site and they had over 1000 comments. There weren't many Oregon fans commenting. They really really hate eachother. I don't know if Ohio State/Michigan has been so one sided one way or another or what, but it has almost become amicable, even Ohio State fans are as rabid about it as they once were.
Don't get me wrong, it's the game I look forward to more than any other on the schedule, but a game that always made me nervous no matter what, just doesn't have that affect anymore. You know it's bad when on this blog people feared what Indiana may be able to do, but not so much about Michigan.
