After an All-American finish as a redshirt freshman, Buckeye 197 Kollin Moore was recognized by Amateur Wrestling News for his efforts. Moore was selected as the First Team All-Rookie Team member at 197, joining the likes of NCAA champion Vincenzo Joseph (Penn State) and fellow third place finishers Zahid Valencia (Arizona State) and Michael Kemerer (Iowa).
Though he won just a single state title for Norwayne in high school, Moore has made the most of his time in the Ohio State practice room and has become one of the most offensive-minded upper weights in the country. Moore amassed a record of 33-4 in his freshman season, with each of his four losses coming to either Olympic bronze medalist and three-time NCAA champion J'Den Cox (Missouri) or NCAA runner-up Brett Pfarr (Minnesota).
Buckeye fans will recall that Mark Hall of Penn State won an NCAA title, defeating Bo Jordan at 174, but Arizona State's Zahid Valencia earns the nod at 174. Valencia's only loss of the season came in the NCAA semifinals to Hall, which was the first of two consecutive controversial victories that went Hall's way.
