Is there anything Kyle Snyder can't do?

Months after finishing 2nd in the NCAA Wrestling Championships as a true freshman and weeks after winning gold at the Pan Am Games, the Buckeye grappler advanced to the finals of the 97kg weight class in freestyle at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas.

Snyder topped Abbas Mohammadtaher Tahan of Iran, 6-3, in the semifinals. In doing so, he became the youngest World medalist and finalist in U.S. history.

“Before the tournament started, I was expecting to win. That was my goal. That's still the plan,” Snyder told USA Wrestling. “I have one more match to wrestle against a really tough guy. He's the guy I wanted to wrestle the most, so it should be exciting.

“It is amazing hearing the USA chants, especially on a day like today – September 11. It's important to come out here and represent your country to the best of your ability.”

Snyder will face defending world champion Abdusalam Gadisov of Russia in the championship, set to begin at 9:30 p.m. ET Friday night. His match will be the 12th and final match of the evening.

If Snyder manages to pull of the upset, he'll become the youngest world champion in USA Wrestling history – since, you know, he's already the youngest finalist and medalist in our nation's history.
