Time have changed since 2000, so it's no surprise college classes are as well. USA Today's #TalkingTech stopped by Ohio State's Columbus campus, and what they found may shock you:

[Journalism professor Nicole] Kraft takes attendance via Twitter — where students are assigned to tweet story ideas and more from class.

"They will use social media whether we like it or not," says Kraft. "I don't want to police them."

During the massive snow storms this winter, Ohio State has already been closed for two days, but thanks to technology "we kept going," says Kraft. "My students still did the work."

Twitter allowed students to keep working despite classes being cancelled? George Orwell's corpse just did an ollie-kick flip in its grave.

Also, props to Brett Amadon who gave me my new catch-phrase:

When Pandora doesn't work, I don't work.

Hmmm.  Wondering why this is here.

Guessing the connection is it's an article about Ohio State classes/technology on an Ohio State centered blog. Also, off-season.

This is pretty much standard Buckshot material anyways.

When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.

Especially given the redesign, as we'll be pushing a lot of Ohio State athletics stuff to the front page.

I meant not sports related, not 11W related, not relevant.  But given the new rules on DV, I guess I wont make anymore dry humor comments on writes that aren't sports related so my commenting rights don't dry up on me.

I enjoyed it! Interesting thing, but I would probably fail this course. I do not have twitter and I do not want it.

Me too man. I don't get it.

Lots of things about school that don't like and don't want ... I guess I wasn't prepared to take a stand and fail the course just because I didn't like or agree with something.  Must be nice if you had that inner strength.

I had Nicole Kraft for two separate journalism classes and she was really cool. Philly fan though, so that's awful.

Ditto - Nicole Kraft was one of the best teachers I came across at Ohio State, and speaking as a working journalist I'll say that I actually learned things from her that I use in the real world, on a daily basis.

Cracks me up how people think it's all evil on twitter but the kids are flocking to it because Facebook is an old person thing now.  Not to mention Twitter is the first place I get a lot of my news now.

I hate social media and would fail that class. It would be a double whammy too: can't find a job without a degree and can't find a job with a journalism degree.

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

An ollie-kick flip DJ? Come on man! That would just be a kickflip; unless, he did an ollie with a late kickflip. Get your skate lingo down brother.

 That's gotta be it, right?

Wake up on a snowy Sunday morning and I'm getting owned in the comments section!!!!11 Unbelievable.

George Orwell was the Tony Hawk of his generation. If anybody could create new moves, it's that guy's rotted corpse.

One of my friends takes her classes. I always get a kick out of seeing his tweets about the class. Seemed like it was being done for a grade and now I know it's some kind of attendance policy. Pretty cool IMO
