Freshman forward Maddy Field certainly began her Buckeye career in style. On Friday, against Lindenwood, she skated in her first collegiate game. The Oakville, Ontario native wasted no time in posting her first collegiate points, assisting on the game winning goal and later lighting the lamp herself. She kept the momentum rolling right into Saturday’s contest where she drew first blood and helped Ohio State to a season opening sweep of the Lions. In recognition of her fine work, Field was crowned the WCHA’s rookie of the week.

Teammate Kendall Curtis earned an honorable mention for the conference’s offensive player of the week award. The senior forward netted two goals, including the game winner, in the series finale, securing a sweep for the Scarlet and Gray. Curtis also contributed a goal and an assist on Friday for four total points in the series. The lady Bucks return to action this weekend when they kick off their conference schedule against No. 3 Wisconsin.
