Ohio State hockey isn't the world-dominating force we'd like it to be (yet), but the icers finished the regular season on a high note and the Big Ten took note of some of the team's top players.

Junior forward Anthony Greco was named an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection and rookie Matthew Weis was named to the B1G All-Freshman Team, the Big Ten conference announced Monday.

Honorees were selected by the conference's coaches and a media panel.

Queens, NY native Greco leads Ohio State and is tied for fifth in the Big Ten with 15 goals this season, to go along with eight assists for 23 points. All are career highs. Three of Greco's goals have been game winners. That includes overtime scores against Providence and Penn State. The Providence winner capped one of his two hat tricks, with the other coming against Michigan on Jan. 16.

Freehold, NJ product Weis is fifth in total scoring among all B1G frosh, posting 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists in 31 games played. Weis finished with five points in his last six games and posted multiple points five times during the 2014-15 season.

In addition, senior captain Tanner Fritz received the Sportsmanship Award for Ohio State for the second time. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior, must be in good academic standing, and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of their sport.

Fritz, an Alberta native, is Ohio State's leading point scorer, with 26 this season. He also has a team-high 15 assists to go with his 11 goals.

The Buckeyes will play fourth seed Penn State Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the Big Ten Tournament at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena. The winner is "rewarded" with a date against top seed Minnesota Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The tournament winner gets an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. The entire B1G tourney will be shown on BTN.
