The Rivalry is a century old blood feud and the fiercest in all of sports, but hot takes would flood this country if The Game ever ended in a hooligan-styled brawl.

But back in 1935, a simpler time according to those that lived it, brawls between the two teams weren't uncommon. Even Ohio State's freshman team—like I said: simpler time—wasn't above an old fashioned knuckleduster.

Such was the case when the Buckeye freshman grid machine struck north 80 Novembers ago for their introduction into the Midwest's bubbling rivalry. It trounced the Wolverines, 38-0, kicked Michigan's ass in an end-zone kerfuffle, and then trotted a Big House field goalpost to the local Ritz–Carlton as a spoil of war.

From the November 25th, 1935 edition of The Lantern, the official voice of Ohio State students:

Bloody noses and swollen jaws, eh? If only we could see a picture of the guys who let their field goalpost get ripped out of the their home stadium's soil.

It also sounds like Gene Smith and the Ohio State athletic department have historic precedence to move The Game a primetime kickoff, should Michigan ever again rise to national prominence.
