KENNY GUITON IS LA'S QUARTERBACK OF THE FUTURE

Kenny Guiton probably won't be a grad assistant anytime soon.

That's because his current employer - the LA Kiss of the Arena League - sees a very long runway for him as a professional quarterback:

The player the KISS front office seemed to be most excited about, though, is one who didn't play in the team's first 11 games and has yet to start an AFL game.

That player is backup quarterback Kenny Guiton, a rookie who started only two games at Ohio State.

Guiton's skills are a terrific fit for the indoor game, where the dimensions are much tighter. As a result he arrived well into the season and immediately made an impact:

(He is) one of the fastest players on the roster and has a tight release when throwing the ball. This season, the KISS has used Guiton mostly in red-zone situations, trying to exploit his speed and athleticism. He has rushed for two touchdowns and thrown for five.

KISS co-owner Brett Bouchy (not a former member of the band KISS - also owners of the team) is buying into Guiton's future as an NFL quarterback.

“A guy like Kenny Guiton, who comes and plays for us for three or four years, he'll get his NFL shot at 27 and be a completely different quarterback."

If Smooth Jazz doesn't eventually play on Sundays, it won't be because he didn't have enough Buckeyes cheering for him.

Kenny G is the man!  He's one of those guys that is good at whatever he does, and apparently professional football is no different.  I find it hard to believe he won't get another shot at the NFL at some point.

Well, the co-owner of the "L.A. KISS" (I can't believe that is really the name of a football team) was quoted as saying that Guiton will get his NFL shot in 3 or 4 years. That way, if Johnny Manziel doesn't work out, the Browns may have a shot at Kenny Guiton pretty soon. Ultimately, a quarterback's job is NOT to put up big stats (contrary to popular belief)...a QB's job is to win football games. If Guiton is put in the right atmosphere, I can surely see him as an NFL success and I never thought that about Russell Wilson. All Guiton really needs is to be on a team that plays good enough defense to get him on the field. He has proven that he can do it all, even if it has just been on the short term in relief appearances. All Terry Bradshaw needed was a great defense (I'm not saying players like Harris and Swann didn't help), and Bradshaw was smart with the ball and won games without being among the best QB's in history. Guiton could be the same type QB or even better. I know that comparing Guiton to Bradshaw is unfair but my point was more that a QB's job is to win games. If you look at Bradshaw's numbers, they were sort of weak. In his 14 seasons, he passed for 300+ yards in just 7 games. Those are not the kind of numbers you expect to see from a QB that was the first pick in the draft. The man knew how to win...Kenny Guiton does too. Someone just needs to give him a chance.

I want KG to be a Brown so bad.. He'd be the perfect insurance policy for Manziel/Hoyer and with time probably develop into a starter.

I want to change names with the LA Arena League franchise. Could you imagine going to a KISS game next to the R&R HOF? Oh, and bring Kenny with the name and colors.

I don't think he was with the team when they played in Cleveland.  If he was, he'd have gotten a hell of an ovation...

We want him to have success in the NFL, right? We know at least one franchise in the region where that is somewhat less likely...

This guy? The same one who led his final year of Buckeye football to one of its worst all time records? Adams only looked good compared to Shugarts, but I blame Bollman for that, those guys spent four years in college never getting coached.

My Bengals could use a quarterback that doesn't choke under pressure... Could you imagine Guiton throwing to AJ Green? I'd take that in a heartbeat. Much better than Andy "Happy Feet" Dalton... plus if he gets flushed out, Guiton can actually run.

Yes, a guy who has started two games in the AFL is much better than a guy who has led the bengals to the playoffs multiple times and thrown for 60 TDs over the last two seasons. I like KG as well but this site goes a little overboard with their pipedreams about him. If he does eventually make the NFL, his max potential is probably as a journeyman backup QB who is always prepared to start if needed, which is something he would get paid well for, and is always needed to ensure a team doesn't collapse because of injuries. That or perhaps a career as a package player. He is a talented QB and probably could start on a very talented team without hampering them too much due to his limitations, but he isn't going to develop in to this career long starter and could very easily not make the league at all in any significant capacity.

Seriously?  Guiton instead of Dalton?  I love Kenny G, but come on.

The Dalton hate just kills me.  The guy throws for a franchise record number of touchdowns last year, and all I hear is people calling for his head.

Is he an elite QB?  Absolutely not, but he's improving every year and he's the best QB the Bengals have seen in a long time.  The interception # is too high, but I think Dalton will have a great year under Hue Jackson.

Yikes Crumb, that's a lot of hostility toward a former Buckeye doing work in The League... I agree, Bollman squandered a lot of talent on the line, but forget not the phrase "once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye." :)

Sorry, 2011 is still a point of pain for me, but I'll try to remember 2010 and 2009 ahhh good times even for Adams and maybe for Shugarts.

I would love for KG to get a chance but would rather that it be anybody but Bungals! I don't like Steelers either but let's face it ,they keep more of my Buckeyes around then my Brownies do! It almost seems like the Browns front office ( no matter who is there) doesn't like Buckeyes!

They started KG at wideout last night. He had a nice TD reception along with a few more grabs. I don't think he took any reps at QB ( at least when I was watching). The announcers were giving him high praise and they even had about a minute highlight reel of KG at OSU. The entire arena league seems to be buzzing about him. Good luck Kenny, stay healthy and show everyone why we believe in you!

Great to see, I think gene Simmons is right though, play on the field for 3-4 years in the afl and get solid reps, and he'll get a shot at the nfl.

Dude has the mental game, but needs to be a more polished passer, especially with the long ball.  Might be a few years before he's on the sidelines coaching our QB's...great buckeye

Watched him play a few weeks ago... He looked slick. He's definitely got the god-given talent to play on Sunday. If he can develop and polish his mental game in the AFL, then who knows what he could be capable of.

I've never said I 'hate' anyone because that would imply I had any emotion for them whatsoever.

I have wondered if Kenny is one of those guys that just performs better in a game than practice. The NFL apparently didn't see enough in practice from him. But he always seems to prove himself very worthy in games.

He doesn't have measurables. His release is too slow, his velocity is too weak, his stance is too upright, he doesn't drive through the throw enough....blah blah blah.

He gets it done, EOS. "Pay the man his money."

I will forever be a Guiton fan!

I got the #13 jersey during the 2002 season. After Clarett was no longer with the team, I hung the jersey up and waited for someone else to come in with that number that I fell in love with. Kenny G was that guy. This was my tribute to him, and I'll wear it proudly for as long as I'm around watching the Buckeyes play in the fall!

Wake up Kenny's home town Texans. Kenny needs to be brought in. He could make the roster ahead of Case Keenum, as the 3rd string for now. And then compete with Savage for the eventual starter job in 2-3 years.
