The Hurry Up is your nightly dose of updates from the Ohio State football recruiting trail, keeping tabs on the latest from commits and targets from around the country.

TOP TARGET FOR NEXT YEAR?

While most of the attention went to recent running back commit Master Teague III and four-star wide receiver target Kamryn Babb, Ohio State also received a visit from Allen, Texas, four-star quarterback Grant Tisdale for Friday's one-day camp.

“I really loved my visit,” Tisdale told Eleven Warriors. “My grandfather and I left very impressed with what we saw.”

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Tisdale is considered the third-best dual-threat quarterback and No. 168 prospect overall in the Class of 2019, but has flown a bit under the radar until recently, as he threw for only 522 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles' backup last season. Since the Buckeyes offered, programs such as Baylor, Houston, Illinois, Oregon, Oklahoma State and Tennessee have followed suit.

“Coach [Ryan] Day said I'm very talented throwing and running the ball, but the only thing he wants to see is me starting a few games because the thing I lack the most right now is experience,” Tisdale said. “He wants to see what I do in game situations.”

The same can likely be said of Texas, which hasn't yet offered despite a recent unofficial visit to Austin. Many assume his recruitment will ultimately come down to the Buckeyes and Longhorns, but Tisdale said that isn't necessarily the case.

“I want to give everyone a chance,” Tisdale said. “They are taking their time out to recruit me, so it's only fair that I give them a shot. But Ohio State and Texas are great programs, and I will be looking at them later on down the road.”

SURGING AHEAD

Blairstown, New Jersey, Blair Academy three-star defensive end Jayson Oweh also made his first trip to Columbus on Friday.

“It was amazing,” Oweh told Eleven Warriors. “I loved it.”

The 6-foot-5, 236-pound Oweh is considered the 14th-best strong-side defensive end and No. 375 prospect overall in the Class of 2018, though he's only played one year of organized football. He recorded 42 tackles, seven sacks and five tackles for a loss for the Bucs last season. He recently listed a Top 10 of Georgia Tech, Harvard, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

Oweh, who earned an offer from the Buckeyes last month, spent a significant amount of time with defensive line coach Larry Johnson. He even got some individualized attention at the camp's conclusion.

“[It] meant a lot because it was hopefully a glimpse at how it could be if I end up going there,” Oweh said. “My biggest thing is going to a place where I know I'll be developed and where they'll be patient with my learning curve. [Coach Johnson] is a guru at what he does. I think [he would be patient with me]. He really stressed that and is really excited at what he can mold me into.”

Ohio State and Penn State are the two schools standing out early in the process, but Oweh doesn't expect to make a decision on his future until his senior season. The Buckeyes have definitely made a great impression, though.

“They definitely are [one of my favorites], especially after the visit,” Oweh said.

COMBING THE COUNTRY

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and defensive coordinator Greg Schiano were in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday afternoon for USF's satellite camp, at which time they offered a scholarship to Berkeley Prep outside linebacker Jaylen Harrell.

“I was really excited and humble about it,” Harrell told Eleven Warriors.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Harrell is not yet ranked by any major recruiting sites, but stated his claim as one of the top players in the Class of 2020 as he recorded 81 tackles, four pass break ups and three fumble recoveries for the Buccaneers last season. His only other offer at the moment is from South Carolina.

ANOTHER JOHNNIE/JOHNNY DIXON

The coaches also extended a scholarship offer on Sunday afternoon to Wharton three-star cornerback John Dixon.

“I was very excited,” Dixon told Eleven Warriors. “I've always seen Urban Meyer as my favorite coach.”

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Dixon is considered the 20th-best cornerback and No. 274 prospect overall in the Class of 2019, as he recorded 80 tackles, two interceptions and two pass break ups for the Wildcats last season. He holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee and USF.
