The Hurry Up is your nightly dose of updates from the Ohio State football recruiting trail, keeping tabs on the latest from commits and targets from around the country.

TRENCH MONSTER

Ohio State offered a scholarship on Monday night to Snellville, Georgia, South Gwinnett four-star defensive tackle Robert Cooper.

“It's big,” Cooper told Eleven Warriors. “It's a great program ran by one of the best coaches in college football right now. Very traditional program.”

The 6-foot-1, 350-pound Cooper is considered the eighth-best defensive tackle and No. 83 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He committed to Florida State last June over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State and South Carolina, but said he's interested in what Ohio State has to offer.

“It's something I would have to talk with the family about, but it's an opportunity you can't pass up,” Cooper said.

Cooper recorded 37 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss and four sacks to help lead the Comets to the second round of the state playoffs.

BRING IT, TEXAS TOM

The Buckeyes also offered a scholarship on Tuesday afternoon to Arp, Texas, four-star safety DeMarvion Overshown.

“It means a lot,” Overshown told Eleven Warriors. “Ohio State is a great school and one of the best football teams in the NCAA. Knowing they want me is awesome.”

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Overshown is considered the 14th-best safety and No. 145 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He holds 16 offers from programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M and UCLA.

Overshown recorded 173 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and three interceptions while leading the Tigers to the state semifinals.  He hopes to make his first visit to Columbus this spring or summer.

KEEP IN TOUCH

Ohio State is expecting a visit this weekend from Stone Mountain, Georgia, Stephenson four-star offensive guard Jalil Irvin.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Irvin is considered the 16th-best offensive guard and No. 315 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He was committed to Michigan for nearly two months but reopened his recruitment last August due to a lack of communication with the staff.

Irvin reportedly plans to make a silent commitment to a staff this spring and take his official visits before making a formal announcement on signing day.

IRISH EYES ARE SMILING

Though Ohio State —  and defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs by extension — considered him a priority, Marietta, Georgia, Lassiter four-star cornerback Derrik Allen committed to Notre Dame on Monday night.

“Between the family environment, the academics and the on the field, it's an all-around great program,” Allen said.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Allen included Ohio State in his Top 10 in December alongside California, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame and Penn State. Hoping to study computer science and engineering in college, he previously said academics would play a significant role in his decision.
