The Hurry Up is your nightly dose of updates from the Ohio State football recruiting trail, keeping tabs on the latest from commits and targets from around the country.

GAMECOCKS LIKELY FOR FOUR-STAR CORNER

Four-star cornerback Jamyest Williams took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to announce that he will reveal his college decision on Aug. 27. Williams included Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee among his top five schools, all of which he mentioned at Nike's The Opening in July.

Williams visited Columbus last November and most recently in May. But while the Loganville, Georgia, prospect wouldn't necessarily need a new helmet if he were to play his football collegiately at Ohio State, it's unlikely that he ends up in the Scarlet and Gray.

The Buckeyes recently accepted a commitment from four-star Amir Riep of Cincinnati Colerain and continue to target five-star Darnay Holmes of Calabasas, California, and four-star Lamont Wade of Clairton, Pennsylvania. There are already concerns that Ohio State doesn't have enough room for Wade, so the same can be said of Williams, as well.

247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong has pegged South Carolina as the destination for the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder.

“The opportunities South Carolina provides to play in the SEC, while also having a chance to make a big impact as a freshman for a new staff, is exactly what Williams is looking for,” he said. “The Gamecocks have been trending for months, led by the recruiting efforts of Travaris Robinson, and it looks like he will get his man when he announces later this month.”

HUBER HIEGHTS HAS TREATED BUCKEYES WELL, NO?

Huber Heights Wayne defensive end Alex Reigelsperger has a solid group of offers from schools such as Iowa, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Western Michigan. But like many kids growing up in the Buckeye State, the 247Sports Composite three-star recruit dreams of playing at Ohio State.

Though the staff hasn't yet offered Reigelsperger a scholarship, he expects the Buckeyes to pull the trigger soon.

“[An offer] would mean a lot. It really would,” he told Eleven Warriors. “It would help me with recruiting and it's just one of those dominant offers that would make me stop and think for a little.”

Reigelsperger has been in contact with head coach Urban Meyer, defensive line coach Larry Johnson and executive director for football relations Tim Hinton. He was supposed to make the short trip to Columbus on Monday, but it never worked out.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder said that a prospective school's graudation rate, the ability to send players to the National Football League and player-coach relationships will be the three biggest factors in his recruitment.

Though Kentucky seems to have the inside track to land Reigelsperger, he hopes to be choosing from Alabama, California, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and USC when it's all said and done.

BUCKEYES HAVE LINEBACKER FEELING MILE HIGH

Ohio State offered Denver linebacker Adrian Jackson in April, and the Buckeyes immediately stood out to the top overall player in the state of Colorado. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder visited Columbus for a one-day camp in June, and is already planning his next trip back.

“I plan on going to Ohio State sometime during the season to catch one of their games,” Jackson told 247Sports ($). “I'm going to try to get to the Michigan game.”

In addition to Ohio State, Jackson has offers from Colorado, Colorado State, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame and Nebraska.

“Ohio State has a great family atmosphere,” he said. “When I was there, I liked how they approached me. I like the facilities and the area around the school.”

Jackson is considered by 247Sports Composite as the 10th-best linebacker and No. 201 player overall in the Class of 2018.

COMPETITION VERSUS SILLY GAMES

One of the more impressive performers at Ohio State's Friday Night Lights camp last month was Belleville, Michigan, offensive tackle Devontae Dobbs. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound sophomore was extended a scholarship offer that night, adding to a list that included Auburn, Florida, Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State and Tennessee.

You can add another name to the list, too, as Dobbs was offered by Michigan following the BBQ at the Big House event over the weekend.

“They were pretty similar,” he told 247Sports when asked to compare the two recruiting events. “One I was competing at and one was more talking to people and doing games and stuff.”

Though I'm curious what games Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh likes to play, Dobbs said he enjoyed both experiences. And while there's still a long way to go in his recruitment, it's clear which two teams top his list.

“They are both powerhouses. Both can win championships,” he said. “I have to look at the coaches and the academics.”

Dobbs is considered by 247Sports as the top prospect in the state of Michigan and the No. 14 player overall in the Class of 2019.

MORE UNFORTUNATE NEWS

One-time Ohio State target and current Florida State offensive lineman Chad Mavety announced on Tuesday that he a “cardiac issue” has forced him to stop playing football. Mavety shared the news on Facebook, where he also thanked fans for their support.

The Nassau (New York) Community College transfer had the Buckeyes in his final two before ultimately picking the Seminoles in December 2013. This marks the second time in under a week that a former Ohio State target was found with a cardiac condition.
