D'Angelo Russell surely has dreams to play for the United States' Olympic basketball team one day and on Friday he took the first potential step to reaching that goal as the former Ohio State star was named to be a member of the USA Select Team.

What is the USA Select Team, you ask?

The USA Select Team scrimmages and practices all summer against Team USA in preparation for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Russell — who was the No. 2 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft after an All-American freshman season for the Buckeyes — averaged 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists this year for the Lakers.

Other reported members of this year's USA Team include Portland Trailblazers guard C.J. McCollum, Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner and one of Russell's teammates with the Lakers, Julius Randle.
