Shannon Scott, LaQuinton Ross Collect All-Big Ten Honors

By DJ Byrnes on March 10, 2014 at 6:46p

LaQuinton Ross was named to the 2014 All-Big Ten third team by conferences coaches. The New Jersey product was also an honorable mention for All-Big Ten Honors by the media.

Shannon Scott, who saw his backcourt partner nab Defensive Player of the Year honors, showed he was no defensive slouch either by being named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team by conference coaches.

Congratulations to these two Buckeyes as they prepare to take on Purdue in the first round of the upcoming Big Ten tournament.

Craft and Scott are both really good players. They just aren't a good fit together.

Amen. Said it in here a month ago. Exactly the same type of player.

Craft, Smith and Scott on the floor at the same time makes me cringe

Him D'Angelo and "fingers crossed" Myles Turner together, we would have a very good team. All NBA caliber.

In case you're curious, it's Mr. Spray

I may be mistaken, but I thought Q was from Mississippi, not NJ. Congratulations to both him and Scott.

I agree with this. Where did the New Jersey link come from ???

Props to Q, Scott and all the Buckeyes.  Good luck in the Tournaments!

At 6'8" and 195 - he needs to eat a steak every once in awhile - feel free to mix in a whopper every know and then.

So why would all of us think that "Q" is from Miss. DJ? I have read and hear that he is from Miss. tons of times. Maybe he just transferred to the NJ school for his SR yr. but that doesn't make him from NJ.

Actually I think he'll be good in the NBA, they really dont play defense or call traveling.

I agree. I don't see Q being able to play in the NBA. No way is he big enough to play inside and he's entirely too slow to play perimeter. Add to that, that his ball handling skills are average at best, and that this is scoring is pretty inconsistent and I don't see a team taking a chance on him. Deshaun Thomas was twice the scorer Q is and could hold his own in college inside and he isn't even playing in the league right now, albeit he did get picked by a solid team in SA that can develop players.

Q will not get drafted if he goes to the NBA

It seems pretty clear Q won't be picked in Rnd 1... maybe not picked at all... can't see anyone other than himself recommending he turns pro.

He wasn't 80% the player Thomas was his Jr. year... nor does he have the frame (needs to add 15 lbs).  I would be very surprised if he goes pro, It will be the last we hear or him if that is the case.

Maybe it's just from comparing him to the waif that is Marc Loving, but it seems to me that Ross has gotten stronger this year. He's capable of getting into the paint and finishing through contact. I wish he grabbed a few more offensive rebounds, but he's been okay at the "4" this year. If he stayed for his senior year and improved his handle a bit, Q would likely be a B1G POY candidate.

Scott has some pretty bad lapses on defenses quite a bit.

Its about time we started talking about The Basketball bucks and their strength and conditioning. Who is it? He should be fired. Not only Q but Sam Thompson too. these guys body type look the same going all the way back to Buford I have not been pleased with a lot of the bucks growth. these guys play hard but get physically dominated by teams who are visibly bigger and stronger than them? I know these guys could probably run for days but how about sitting them some and building some mass.
