Yet another impressive week by Ohio State athletics, led by the top-ranked men's volleyball team finishing their regular season with an undefeated record in the MIVA conference and men's gymnastics winning their 14th Big Ten title in program history.

Men's Volleyball

With a win over Lindenwood in straight sets Friday and a four-set win over Quincy Sunday, Ohio State finished their regular season with a perfect 15-0 conference record.

Against Lindenwood, senior Miles Johnson paced the squad with 13 kills and five digs as the Buckeyes outscored the Lions by 24 points in three sets.

Juniors Nicolas Szerszen and Maxime Hervoir both finished with 17 kills and seven digs, while sophomore Sanil Thomas led the team with 11 digs against Quincy.

The team has had quite a bit of success this regular season, as it set the school and conference records for longest win streak and sits atop the rankings as teams get ready for the postseason — and it will look to carry that success into the postseason.

Men's Lacrosse

Currently in one of the toughest stretches of opponents you can imagine, the No. 9 Buckeyes have stumbled the last two weeks after taking down then-No. 1 Denver on March 19 with losses to No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Penn State.

However, this week was a new one for the Bucks as they earned a 13-9 win over No. 11 Johns Hopkins over the weekend to put them back on the right track to close out the season.

Sophomore attacker Jack Jasinski was very impressive in the tilt, as he racked up four goals and three assists in a career-best seven-point match. Redshirt freshman Lukas Buckley and senior Johnny Pearson each added two goals of their own while senior goalie Tom Carey finished with seven saves.

The Bucks will travel to Ann Arbor to take on That School Up North on April 15.

Tennis

With the men's team sitting at the No. 2 spot and the women's team at No. 3, there is certainly a case to be made for Ohio State as a national tennis powerhouse.

The teams certainly helped make that case with impressive weekends on both fronts.

Taking on two Big Ten opponents, the women's team was as close to flawless as they could be with two wins over Iowa and Nebraska without dropping a single set.

Francesca Di Lorenzo, the No. 1 singles player in the ITA, led the team by outscoring her opponents by a total of 24-8 on the weekend.

The men's team was impressive in its own right, sweeping Indiana 7-0 Friday before a 6-1 win over Purdue Sunday.

No. 1 Mikael Torpegaard and No. 7 Hugo Di Feo both outscored their opponents 25-14 over the weekend.

Baseball/Softball

After its eight-game winning streak, No. 21 Ohio State softball got some well-deserved attention from the NCAA and moved into the top 25 before a three-game set with No. 16 Michigan.

That School Up North may have shown that it's still got an edge over the Ohio State for now, but the Bucks are quickly closing that gap.

The Bucks dropped both games of a doubleheader Saturday and were outscored by a total of 15-6 in the two games. These losses were also the team's first Big Ten losses on the season.

Sunday, the Bucks got their revenge with a shutout of the Wolverines and a 5-0 win to hand them their first Big Ten loss of the season.

Junior Shelby McCombs tossed a complete game three-hitter to keep the Wolverines' bats quiet, while junior Ashley Goodwin and senior Anna Kirk each hit a home run. It was Goodwin's first homer of the season.

In four games this week, the baseball team went 4-1 and outscored their opponents 27-18, including an 11-2 drubbing of Penn State in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday.

In the doubleheader, sophomore third baseman Brady Cherry drove in five runs on four hits, including this three-bagger:

Gymnastics

No. 3 Ohio State men's gymnastics captured its second straight Big Ten championship and 14th in program history over the weekend. They scored 418.600 as  team -- over two points ahead of their closest competitor, Illinois, who scored 416.400.

Redshirt junior Sean Melton and redshirt senior Jake Martin placed first and second respectively in the all-around competition. The win marked Melton's second consecutive Big Ten all-around title, and he also led all competitors with a 15.050 on the floor exercise and a 14.600 on rings.

Melton is only the second Buckeye in program history to win bacl-to-back all-around B1G titles. The other? Blaine Wilson from 1995-97, who now serves on the Buckeye coaching staff.

Other Events

Ohio State men's gold finished 11th out of 16 at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate. Sophomore Daniel Wetterich led the squad with a top ten finish by shooting two-under on the weekend.
