NCAA basketball championship 49% (532 votes) Football win over Michigan 51% (554 votes) Total Votes: 1086 Comments Show All Comments LABuckeye 18 Feb 2012, 1:08 pm I voted championship, but I probably would have voted for a win over Michigan if it was football season. Poison nuts 18 Feb 2012, 1:24 pm I went with championship as well but only because it's been 50 years now and I really want to see one of those in my lifetime. Basketball NCs are tough thing to earn. If the question was football or basketball NC...well that would be different! "Do not pass me, just slow down - I can move right through you" Superchunk - Precision Auto. William 18 Feb 2012, 1:29 pm I can't believe this is a serious question. NCAA Championship>Regular Season win, even if it's the Michigan game. C'mon folks. HolyBuckeye1093 18 Feb 2012, 1:59 pm Agree 100%. The only way I could vote for a win over scUM is if it lead to a BCS title game appearence and win, like 2002. I would take a football title over a basketball title any day but I look back to 2010-2011 and I would much rather us lose to Dick Rod's scUM team than have our #1 bball team lose to UK and not win the title. onetwentyeight 19 Feb 2012, 12:49 am I can't believe this. The very thought of us losing to RR is too repulsive for me to even comprehend. I barely even remember any of our bball losses. Conroy 18 Feb 2012, 5:25 pm I would trade a single Michigan game for a championship in a heart beat. Let's hope we already did ;) Is it Saturday Yet 18 Feb 2012, 6:48 pm This! lamplighter 18 Feb 2012, 5:34 pm maybe if it was a win over Michigan that gave us the title --- Seth4Bucks 18 Feb 2012, 5:54 pm Why can't I have my cake and eat it too? Seriously though, I think that the Senator has spoiled us. No way would so many of us choose a BB NC win vs a football win vs Michigan like 10 years ago. Thank God Cooper is way in the rear view mirror! Oh and I too voted BB NC . . . but only because I really want to see Thad get one. DJ Byrnes Staff 18 Feb 2012, 6:36 pm this was easy. *casts michigan vote* Californian by birth, Marionaire by the Grace of President Warren G. Harding. RedStorm45 18 Feb 2012, 7:00 pm Ask this again in November...probably different results. Plus there's a good possibility we could be playing Michigan University twice in football. That being said, there's no way OSU should have just 1 national title in hoops. It's time to step it up. The guys on the title team are 70 years old. I'll take national title for $1000, Alex (reference to Trebek). NCBuck1 18 Feb 2012, 7:35 pm I would trade all our bball championships to get the last loss to tsun back. Come on people it's THE GAME! Sure a bball nc would be nice, but I'll take the football bragging rights all day long. I think we'll be lucky to see a B1G championship in bball this year. I don't think Matta's got what it takes to make us a truly elite team. William 18 Feb 2012, 9:46 pm This is crazy... onetwentyeight 19 Feb 2012, 12:48 am I would too. (trade all our bball champs to get that last loss back) Normal Buck 19 Feb 2012, 8:38 am Same. GlueFingers Lavelli 18 Feb 2012, 11:11 pm I cant believe a majority of people would rather see us lose a football game to michigan period. I guess I was brought up as that being the one game we had to win no matter what. Basketball? really? I thought we were a football school. Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball. LadyBuck 18 Feb 2012, 11:50 pm I would love a basketball championship, and we already lost to Michigan this year. Maybe this will be the year (a little bit too optimistic, I know). onetwentyeight 19 Feb 2012, 12:52 am You gotta be kidding me right? I'd give up the entire basketball DEPARTMENT FOREVER if it meant we'd beat Michigan every year. GOD. This site is ELEVEN warriors. We're a FOOTBALL school. Michigan is our MORTAL ENEMY OF OVER A CENTURY HOW IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION UGHHH The ONLY (osu sports- not real life ; we have perspective here, unlike PSUers) thing i'd trade a Michigan win for is a NC. And that would be some sort of play Mich 2x lose the first and beat them in B1G CC and win NC. But EVEN THAT pains me. /apologies for caps //rant over SonOfBuckeye 19 Feb 2012, 2:21 am I'd give up the entire basketball DEPARTMENT FOREVER if it meant we'd beat Michigan every year. GOD. I think I love you. BuddhaBuck 19 Feb 2012, 11:37 am YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. Don't text while driving. SPreston2001 19 Feb 2012, 5:18 pm Totally agree!! Couldnt have said it any better! William 19 Feb 2012, 1:21 am I cannot comprehend how people think that a regular season football win is greater than a national title in basketball. If I were an OSU basketball player I'd find this offensive. RedStorm45 19 Feb 2012, 2:37 am Agreed. Plus we'll probably just see Michigan in Indy the next week for the title anyway... RoweTrain 19 Feb 2012, 8:11 am You know what I find offensive? The way this basketball team has played against UM. MSU. Purdue (even though they won, they were at home and struggled to pull away). They won't be winning any championships playing like that so I'll take the win over UM. "Just bow up and go out and play." ~ D. "YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it. RoweTrain 19 Feb 2012, 12:54 pm No I didn't. I voted. I may have ignored it above however but that was because I was I just stating how disappointed I have been with their play lately. Do I want them to win the championship? Of course. Do I watch them when they play bad? Do I go to games when they have down years? Hell yeah I do. I just like football more, always have. "Just bow up and go out and play." ~ D. Lee "As it stands right now, I know I am the best athlete in college football." ~ B. Miller Buckeyevstheworld 19 Feb 2012, 5:07 am Hmm.. Beating Meatchicken, or winning the 2nd NC in Ohio State's basketball history. I'll take both. But if I had to choose, it would be a championship. "YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it. Buckeye Black 19 Feb 2012, 10:59 am Apparently half of the voters aren't basketball fans. If Ohio State can't win a championship with Sully, I don't see it happening with this coaching staff. SPreston2001 19 Feb 2012, 5:15 pm Sully isnt half the force Oden was and they couldnt get it done with him. I like Matta but I dont think we have enough pure shooters to make it very far this year. jack 19 Feb 2012, 2:41 pm amazed the voting is this close. bball championship. they aren't mutually exclusive, and even if they were, since one is clearly bigger than the other I could give up a win over scUM one year to be bball champs. it's a recentcy thing. we've dominated tSUN for several years now and will again, but the last bball championship was the year before I was born. come on, gimme a bball championship in my lifetime. gbm 19 Feb 2012, 2:50 pm Victory over tsun everyday of the week. I'm still hoping the trend continues as it has the last 10 years and in my lifetime I get to see us take over the overall lead in the series. That means way more to me than a BB title (though still very nice in itself). But overall bragging rights trumps all. Rooster Buckburn 19 Feb 2012, 3:03 pm Really people?? I hate Meatchicken as much as the next guy - but taking that over a NCAA national championship??? Riggins 19 Feb 2012, 3:58 pm Win over Michigan. Woody Hayes casts /shiftyeyes at you basketball voters. I love basketball, but not over Michigan wins. Tressel has spoiled this fanbase. Michigan probably would've chosen an NCAA basketball championship if you asked them this question in 2000 too. SPreston2001 19 Feb 2012, 5:13 pm At tOSU football trumps basketball in every way possible! I love Matta and crew, but come on its all about the pigskin baby!! I cant stand to hear these scUM fans brag about their win this past year that they barely got!! Give me a pigskin win against scUM over a BB NC any day!! FB>BB period.... Phoenix824 20 Feb 2012, 1:35 am The only way a NC in BB is more valuable to me than a football win over TTUN is if we beat TTUN in the BB championship game. RedStorm45 19 Feb 2012, 10:40 pm Everyone who voted for a regular season football win (I'm assuming? or is it a win over TTUN in Indy? hmm...) ought to be ashamed of themselves. And trading in the entire basketball department....Go tell that to Jerry Lucas and John Havlicek, 2 of the greatest Buckeyes ever, regardless of sport. You'd throw away the accomplishments of those 2, Larry Seigfried, Gary Bradds, and on and on? Really? Go support an NFL team where all they do is play football then. There's more to this school than football, whether you like it or not. A true fan and supporter of the school can recognize that. btalbert25 19 Feb 2012, 10:48 pm The only way the basketball team wins one with Sully is if he comes back for another season. I think we all expected Bufford to be All American quality and he just hasn't followed through. That said, we lost a lot from last year to this year. Lighty and Diebs were much more important than we thought. For that matter, so was Lauderdale. So I'll go with the win over Michigan. Because, let's face it, this team other than 1 or 2 games this season hasn't really looked like a top 5 team. Sully is really good, but at this point he's not enough. If he comes back for a Jr year, which I seriously doubt he will, this team could really be good. Craft, Thomas, and him coming back with players like Thompson and Amir will really be a good team, but this year's team is not as good as last years. I didn't think that would be the case, and many didn't. Fact of the matter is, it's true. Buckeyes aren't winning it all this year. They have the talent, but we haven't seen the consistent basketball that will get them past the 2nd weekend, and maybe not even the first. I want a regular season dong punch to Michigan. Knock that smug smile off all their fans faces, and keep trolls from the website. We're going to prove to them that while Hoke may recruit better than Michigan has recruited in some time, it's still not good enough to win the conference. Since this team can't win a title next year, let's make sure we kill their season and yes it will be more satisfying than dreaming about a basketball championship that this team just isn't going to win. We saw what happened when a better OSU team played a less talented Kentucky team last year. Watching both teams play this year do you really think Ohio State has a better shot of winning that game or winning it all than last year? I just don't see it.
