I think the length of the Tressel show-cause is too long/harsh. Based on the precedent of Clem Haskins and Todd Bozeman from recent history it seems out of proportion to me.
I think once the Bobby D bs broke you had to be crazy to think they'd let us off with no post-season ban at all. I DO NOT think $NCAA$ would have added to it if we would have self imposed, thereby trading this year for next- which in hindsight would have been pretty smart, huh Gene? But hindsight is always 20/20. So one year sounds pretty fair. It definitely could have been worse. As Ramzy hinted, a "repeat offender" charge is a tough thing to get around.
Way to harsh. They are arrogant assholes who think you need to tell them anything when criminal law is in effect. Brian Bozworth (of all people) was right, all those years ago. Tatoos and alleged overpayment (I believe Posey) versus hundreds of thousands in payments, whores, yachts, you know the deal. Not even close.
I'm just glad it's over. The punishment seems fair. Rules(no matter how draconian) were broken. We have a solid nucleus and arguably the best non-oversigning coach in the country. Better days ahead
I voted No. I do think the verdict is too harsh in the sense that it punishes too many people who did nothing wrong , but it is not *that* unreasonable in perspective after the FTM charge was added.
Do I think it is reasonable given the accusations? Yes.
Do I think it is "fair" when considered relative to the punishments other schools have gotten, and the level of investigation that they have sustained? Not currently. This may or may not change depending on how a few of the ongoing investigations ramp up.
Next season bowl ban harsh. Tress about 2 years to harsh. Bowl ban this season I'd be okay with the penalties. What do you expect when you're looking down the barrel of the mighty ONN (errrr espIn)?

I'm surprised at how many people on here are more fair-minded than I can bring myself to be.

Ask me again when I see the how results of South Carolina, Penn Satte and Miami's stuff come out in the wash.
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
