Lack of a legit second scoring option is concerning.
Defense can be fixed. Thats not the big issue right now.
With Thomas being our go to guy, someone HAS to step up. Kansas was daring anyone outside of DT to shoot yesterday. No one is a legitinamate threat to score or create his own chances.
Teams are going to continue to Double and Triple team DT until someone steps up. Wheather it be Ross, Scott, Thompson, Craft, whoever. But Big Ten play is going to be painful to watch unless they fix it
Other - Outside shooting. That is what is going to hold this team back. Teams are packing the paint and doubling Thomas because no one can consistently make them pay from the outside.
Ditto...Diebler would have had 60 yesterday if he had those WIDE OPEN shots...Which I would follow up with a post threat.

All five are concerns, but if you can play great defense, you can still win. And there's no way we'll be able to fix all five of these problems this season.
I hit the "other" button, because there was no "all of the above".

Other - all of the above?
Coach Matta,
I'm old, fat, and probably can't defend very well anymore BUT...I have 4 years of eligibility and can SHOOT.

I think it's the lack of production in the paint. In my opinion that is the main cause of all the other problems. Lack of a second legitimate scorer is a close second.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
The lack of a paint presence makes the second scorer issue much more acute. I think we can hang with any team that doesn't have a dominant defender/rebounder down load. The problem is that when you have someone like Withey who essentially shuts down anything down low, you have to be able to shoot outside. Which we had looks, we just failed miserably.
Our wings can score from inside *if* they don't have to worry about that kind of shot blocking. But the bigs are completely inept at making themselves a threat when the center leaves them to block the shot. So... we *either* need someone to knock down threes, or we need someone who can provide *some* kind of inside out game. I mean, they don't even look at Ravenel or Williams off of the pick and roll, because they *know* they can't catch it and do anything with it even if they're wide open.
With Sullinger gone, and no Diebler, Thomas is the only true shooter. I knew this was going to be a problem before the season started. There is no inside scoring threat.
This team is not as good as the previous two years.
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Definetely need a consistent second scorer. Putting the ball in the basket will help set up our good defense and limit the other team's transition buckets. I'll settle for 45% shooting percentage. Looking at yesterday's box score, we shot a cool .303%
Other - The inability to hit open outside shots.
