Here's your note from Jurgen to skip work and watch the game.

And here's the chart you'll be studying while keeping one eye on the Ghana–Portugal game. Yes, the odds of the U.S. advancing to the knockout stage are strong, but things get really murky if the USMNT falls short of a draw.

Perhaps, but nonetheless, we have very significant individual freedoms compared to the rest of the world, sometimes depending upon the state in which you live.

Technically, our "mottoes" are "In God we Trust," and "E pluribus unum."

But I like this one -

Torrential rains in Recife.  Wet pitch means the German passes won't be as good, I think.  This one might be a 0-0 draw if the field is in bad shape.

I like that there has been all this rain. As a former player, playing games in the rain were always the most fun, and it should keep the scoring down

I have to admit, that one of the things that I love about our national team is our diversity. When you see other countries' teams, there is very little diversity among the players. However, our players come from such varied backgrounds, races, and ethnicities. I love it!

If I were coaching I'd be seriously considering taking Bradley out unless he promises to get his head in the game and take every touch he gets like it is his last.  We have actually had good possession from our d-end to the offensive zone and then the ball touches him and bang turnover or stupid pass.

Wilkins78's picture

While Germany has looked more dangerous, they really haven't had any clear cut chances, or really even many shots on goal.  Decent half, I'd say.  Clean up the play and react a bit faster in the back and we got this.

Dublin68's picture

US players are not pressuring the ball at all, Germany controlled the first half.....we need to do much better in counter attack, there is no way we can keep Germany from scoring in the second half...

Ridiculous.

I'm a lifelong soccer player who sees the flaws in the US team, and there are many.

That said, any team that can beat Portugal for all but 30 seconds (and yes, a depleted Portugal), lose close to Germany, beat an underrated Ghana, beat Mexico and Costa Rica in qualifying can definitely beat Belgium.

On the whole Belgium is the favorite, but I'm more confident against Belgium than I was against either Ghana or Germany.

m a lifelong soccer player who sees the flaws in the US team, and there are many.

Main flaw named Michael Bradley #4. I can't wait till we replace him with somebody competent. He has zero ball skills, not aggressive going after the ball, randomly kicks the ball to anyone, and is the reason we had to sweat out the Ghana/Portugal game result (had he not gotten depantsed in the last minute v.s. Portugal. That bald head is the lightning rod of my anger from here on out!
