Have you ever noticed that whenever our illustrious authors here at Eleven Warriors refer to OSU's current ranking, it's a little lower than you thought it was? That's because (for reasons that have never been made clear to me), Eleven Warriors uses SB Nation's BlogPoll rankings instead of the AP Poll rankings. Numerous times this season, I've seen commenters try to correct the ranking given in an article only to be told Eleven Warriors uses BlogPoll, not AP.
Well, it may be time to ditch BlogPoll. Friend of the site Luke Zimmermann, who runs "Land Grant Holyland," the OSU website affiliated with SB Nation, recently wrote an article sharing his frustration with the way that his fellow SB Nation bloggers have treated OSU in their voting. He points out that 8 of the SB Nation bloggers have refused to even include OSU in their rankings at all! Check out the article here: http://www.landgrantholyland.com/2012/11/22/3679018/ohio-state-one-of-two-undefeated-teams-7th-blogpoll-top-25 .
If even SB Nation blogger Luke Zimmermann is fed up with SB Nation's BlogPoll, then why are we still using it here? I say it's time to boycott BlogPoll here on Eleven Warriors. Let's start using the AP Poll instead. What do you think?

Agreed on Luke's frustrations. Noticed earlier this year that Corn Nation wasn't ranking us. Bullshit, if you ask me.
Im no fan of the SB rankings
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Luke's a good guy and his frustration is warranted. I've been complaining about our consistently low ranking all season and agree with you that the AP is a little better overall (the SB Poll is voted on by people who run team-specific sites. That doesn't make much for objectivity).

I understand what you are saying but does it really matter? There are AP voters punishing Ohio State for being inelligible too. Both of them are meaningless polls. What matters to me is 12-0, I don't care what the polls say. Next year, though, when a poll means we get to play for something or not, I'll care a lot more.
Thanks for the perspective, BT. You're right of course. Still, I don't like the idea of helping to popularize a poll that is blatantly screwing us. Let's not reward incompetence/malevolence.

Yeah, it's dumb. We stopped caring about the BlogPoll rankings earleir in the season when we discovered the same thing (Purdue blog Hammer and Rails is another that is not ranking Ohio State at all because of sanctions and because that blog is terrible).
Next year, we'll use AP ranking across the site for previews and things like that.

Thanks Jason. And, BT, it really does matter because the reason polls are published is to create some type of credibility for the posting organization. I could understand if SB gave instructions that teams on probation were not eligible for their poll. They have not done so. The voters then are tasked with ranking teams eligible for their poll. To exclude a team base on personal bias only shows that the voters are not qualified to vote. And, I do realize that each individual has the right to place any team where they feel they rank. But, as with any poll, the more obviously biased the voters are only diminishes the viability of the poll. 11W deciding to go with another poll for referencing purposes is just a step in the process of SB losing their credibility.
Still love that avatar NW.....
Will there be a preseason or weekly poll when the 4 team playoff system is implemented?
I assume the committee will not be required to take the Top 4 ranked teams in whichever weekly polling they decide on using.
Glad to hear 11W is moving away from this. It has been driving me crazy all year.
