The amount of crying, complaining, and irrational thoughts I've seen on this site over the past 24 hours almost makes me embarassed. When people call Ohio State fans rude, obnoxious, or whatever they are somewhat right.
I'm all for a cival discussion about anything, but man...some of the forum threads I've seen are down right sad.
Bitching over what Mark May says? really, the guys has opinions..and gets paid to say those things. He probably goes to sleep with a big ole smile knowing he pisses half of you off every day.
complaining about not taking a bowl ban last year? lets riot gene smith's house! come on...no way of knowing how things will turn out.
11W is highly trafficked by not just Ohio State Fans. and with The Game next, you know Michigan fan will be on here as much as some of you will be on GoMblog. Lets please think before we post/comment. I'm all for good hearted rivalry talk (believe me I went to Ohio State).

If you're referring to my forum on Mark May, than you are completely wrong. I was not "bitching", I was simply stating an example of Mark May showing his hate towards Ohio State. Mark May is supposed to be an analyst and put all biasm aside.

@Dan, I do agree with most complaining forums and I do think some go over board with the whining. But you are seriously way off about the Mark May topic. He has seriously made it a point that he is anti OSU over and over again. For years we have heard him mock this team and most of the time it is uncalled for. I have heard him make a disparaging remark towards OSU when the topic wasn't even about OSU. When he does answer a question about OSU, he makes a negative point and totally glosses over anything positive. I don't even think he has made any comment about Braxton except, OSU can't throw.
I will also leave this, when the topic came up for the heisman, he said Collin Klein or Kenyon Barner, no one else. Now he has to b eating his words because neither will win it. Braxton at least deserves to be in the conversation and he said "they can't go to a bowl". AS IF THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE HEISMAN!
He is an ass. That is why we wreck him whenever we can. You should probably pay more attention to what he says about OSU.

Have to admit, I never know what Mark May says unless I read it here. By thay time it's just comic fodder and I wonder if he says them just to see the reaction on sites like this.
The forums are for each individual to bring up what they want to. As long as it isn't abusive/political, there is no issue. If you don't like a thread ... it is easy to stop reading and go to one you do want to converse in.
Mark May is a biased Assclown! I enjoy it when we win and he doesn't give us a shot just to watch him eat crow in after game wrap up! He can hardly bring himself to say anything remotely positive for our Buckeyes. Wake up, May is a troll.

Regarding the Mark May topic, I thought it was hilarious even Rece Davis called out his anti-OSU bias during the 'Final Verdict'... Or stated that many people believe he's against OSU for more reasons than just the probation. And found it a kick in the pants that Braxton Miller got an entire segment on why he deserves to be a front runner for the Heisman... Then on Sportscenter, they listed Heisman candidates and Braxton's name was at the top of the list.

Mark May has his opinions on Ohio State, and I have my opinion on Mark May. He doesn't piss me off, I just have my opinion that he is a complete tool. At this point, every silly thing he says just confirms my opinion of the guy.
Outside of that, yeah, people probably do complain too much.

@1styr Yes, they did list Braxton at the top of the Heisman conversation on SC this morning, but did you notice Robert Smith did not even mention him? Not even in his top three.
Dancorona5: I agree with you up to a point, but if all the posts/threads were as prim & proper as you seem to be suggesting they ought to be, this site would lose a lot of flavor, character in the process. A lot of humor is grounded in negativity as well as a willingness to mildly (but not excessively) flout convention and decorum, etc.
For example, some of the Mark May threads have been hilarious; some have been childish without being funny.
You take the good with the bad. It's a blog. By all means, it's up to the 11W staff and the commentariat to try to strike a healthy balance, of course. Well, 11W strikes a balance between quality of content and funny "edginess" about as well as any blog out there, IMO. We don't want to go so far in the direction of "maturity" that the posts/threads become boring and sanitized.

Mark may crosses the line several times, but people should expect this from him. His ripping on TOSU is highly obvious, Rece Davis even pointed it out. There are certain people I expect to rip on us because it comes with the territory.

I actually agree that we don't need a new forum topic every single time someone in the national media says something negative about Ohio State, unless it's really egregiously dumb (I've seen Buckeye boards that are much worse in this department, and that's all I really need to say about that).
But it's certainly not surprising to me that the decision-making of Gene Smith is suddenly a topic of great interest again. That strikes me as being very on point.
