I have been wondering for a bit on how to do the voting on comments for awhile. Is there something I need to do to see them cause I don't see anything on threads to vote on comments

I think they were both asking HOW to up/down vote as Bum has under 50 helmet stickers and so did Root when he posted this.

Short answer...you need to have 50 helmet stickers to vote. You can view your total by clicking on the "My Account" link at the top right of the page.

You need at least 50 helmet stickers to vote on posts/comments. You gain helmet stickers by posting (1 each), from someone upvoting your comment, forum topic, or blog post, creating forum topics (2 each?), or creating a blog post (5 each?). You lose stickers through downvotes if you upset the masses.

When I just checked, you were at 30 stickers. Here's a free one to help you on your way!

On a side note, while it may be attractive to create all blog posts for the phat stickerz, that section is only intended for those that want to go long form (see this recent post by as a good example). Use the forum if you want to share a quick nugget of information or want to ask a question. Hope this helps!

Edit - We'll call mine the long answer since Cincyosu beat me to it! Also, typos.

Edit #2 - You can check your helmet sticker total by clicking the "My Account" link at the top right of your browser page in the section above the daily poll.

I use these rules:

Upvote anything that's well-articulated. Even if it's contrarian and inspires you to write up a 1500-word response, give opposing viewpoints the same love you'd give something you agree with 100%.

Upvote anything witty that makes you laugh (or most anything Denny posts).

Funny pictures? Upvote.

Use the upvote to cancel out needless downvotes. Not everyone plays by the same rules, and a lot of quality comments get downvoted into oblivion because someone (A) doesn't like the poster, (B) doesn't like their arguement, or (C) doesn't like the team they root for.

Use your downvotes sparingly, for things that are obviously over-the-line. If you're violating the policy (i.e. "being a jerk"), let the downvotes rain.

If it's borderline, play it safe.

Pretty much.

I rarely downvote anyone. Upvotes on the other hand seem to go to anyone that puts the slightest smirk on my face. Plus an upvote might make someone's day better.

I think I saw you outside of Lifestyle Pavillion on Neil Ave before the Lupe Fiasco concert when I was in college. If I'm not mistaken, you were wearing a fresh pair of Timberlands and kept repeating "Help is on the way". Just thought I let you know, I found help.

I appreciate the suggestions and clear explanation for "earning" the right to vote. Looking forward to my 100th because a lot of the comments and articles are well thought out and top notch, even if I don't always agree with them.
