The nested boxes were growing pretty ridiculous once you got more than four or so levels deep, so I made a change to limit nesting on threaded comments to just two levels. That means comments will now only nest as follows:
COMMENT
> COMMENT REPLY
> COMMENT REPLY
> COMMENT REPLY
You'll still be able to reply to any comment you want, but the display will only go two levels deep. I think the benefits will outweigh the drawback of not being able to reply-chain, but I'm interested to hear what you guys think.

Maybe allow it 4 deep? Just took a look at the changes on old threads and it looks like you could go a bit futher, but I understand why you're making this move. Just my $.02.
Will the order stay the same? That is, once you reach the 2 deep level, will a reply go under the post you are replying to, or does it go to the end of the line? For example, if there are 6 posts in the 2 deep level, and and I want to reply to the third one, assuming there are no other replies to that comment will it become the 4th post in the 2 deep level, or will it go to the end of the line and be the 7th post in this case?
I liked it the way it was. I feel like it rarely got to the point were RIDICULOUSLY thin (usually on DJ's articles, haha) and even when it did it wasn't a big deal and at least you could see who was replying to who. I understand the changes, but I certainly feel two deep is way too little. Perhaps four or so deep would be better if you don't want to go back to the way it was.
Just my humble opinion.

I agree with the above.
HOW DEEP DO THE COMMENTS GO
Taquitos.
I like the change.
Go deeper than 2. I didn't think it was too deep before, only in a few extreme cases. Like 12 deep was still not too thin in my opinion.

Jason,
I just made a couple of comments in todays Skully to two different posts and they came out under the entire thread and it reads all goofy. I liked the old way of posting. It seemed to flow better. Jusy my $0.02

Ah, compromise!
They're now set to go three deep (or four if you count the outermost parent):
COMMENT
> COMMENT
> COMMENT
> COMMENT
> COMMENT
Let's give this a spin for a few days.
In somewhat related news, I think I finally figured out a dynamic image-resizing solution and all it took was a simple bit of CSS.
.comment img { max-width: 100%; }This solution should work on all but the oldest Windows/IE combos out there (less than 1% of our audience) and it means we no longer have to worry about large images busting out of the comment boxes.
