Tyler Moeller Interview

We will be conducting an interview with Tyler Moeller and I wanted to tap into the community to see if you had any questions you would want us to ask. I've always admired the community-driven interviews from Slashdot and Reddit, so we'll take the best questions in this thread and pass them on to Tyler.

I want to know if there was ever a point during all the adversity he faced that he wanted to give it up. What kept him motivated and hungry?

Edit: I of course mean give up his return to football.

I wish I could think of a question that was actually unique and interesting instead of the simple but over-asked stuff like "what was it like sitting on the sideline watching your team knowing you couldn't play??" ...not that there is anything wrong with those. I just find personal questions more interesting, and those are why some of Reddit's AMAs are awesome. Maybe ask about his train set... haha

The most fan overrated Buckeye of my lifetime.  Happy Trails and I look forward to Christian Bryant at the Star.

@Statutoryglory I am probably one of the only few students on campus to own his #26 jersey.  After last year, I understand your point. However, during 2010 when he was our leading tackler and best defensive player until he got hurt againt, it was really hard not to like him due to his effort and everything he went through.

I think it's unfair to call him "overrated", just because he went through a lot of crap. Maybe the biggest "fan favorite without ever doing much"? Sounds a bit nicer to a classy guy. Wish him the best of luck after college.

Don't give up... Don't ever give up.

I don't think he was overrated at all.  Infact, it's pretty remarkable that he came back to play last year.  He's really lucky to be alive and well first.  Maybe getting back to football helped him recover, but football wasn't too important there for a while, surviving a brain trauma was though.  Then when he was playing well, he gets injured and misses most of the season.  Then all the BS with the program before his final season.  Has a player ever gone through so much turmoil?  To me, his story is amazing, he's the kind of guy you want around your program long after he plays and moves on.

Plus, everyone knows there are plenty of Buckeyes ever that are more overrated.  Hell, I can think of several O-linemen, Mo Wells, T-Washington, Small, and the true most overrated player ever to this point anyway........SABINO

Ask him who he wants to play the role of Tyler Moeller in his movie.  Seriously, his story is more inspirational than Rudy.  Sean Astin?  Please. I mean seriously, only a movie involving Notre Dame would use a clown like that.  We're talking about a guy who played a Hobbit and the brother on 50 first dates for crying out loud. For him, it was all down hill after Goonies.

I guess my question for him would pertain to being there during what could be considered the height of the Tressel era and then watching it all unravel.  His perspective has to be an interesting one.  I'm sure he didnt think in a million years he'd be there AFTER tress.

I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.

Ask him how he coped with everyone on the field being faster than him.  Also if he knew of all the crap happening behind the Tressel curtain.

Has he interacted with Coach Meyer and what differences did he notice right away in the way they went about things?  I would also ask him, if football doesn't work out, what does he want to do?

There was a lot of racial tension that was discussed after the Florida game. Jamaal Berry is accused of using derogatory remarks toward a white male that he is reported to have assaulted. Tyler was very outspoken against T. Pryor as a Sophomore then gave him praise as a Junior and is known for being outspoken on various subjects. T. Moeller has made the comment that he is pretty fast for a white guy. My question is, is there racial division on this team? Was the team divided this past year due to the adversity? Was there division between the offense and the defense due to the majority of the infractions occurring on the offensive side of the ball? As a team it is hard to take responsibility for the mistakes of everyone else around you but that is what good teams do, they play as one. We did not look like that team last year. I want to hear an honest appraisal of the teams cohesiveness and the reasons for the regression and inconsistency that the team displayed last year.

I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.

Not sure how he went from being one of the fastest guys on the team with a 4.47 40yd to PHXbucky calling him slow.

Just saw over on Scout that he lis listed on the Woody Hayes Center Record Board 4.47 and 26 x 225lb Bench.   Enjoyed watching you and too bad your senior season wasn't as healthy as you would of liked and the team wasn't as successful as expected.

If you were comletely healthy would you be working out for NFL Teams ?

I don't care if he ran a 4.27, you can't tell me that he played fast or was in the correct position to make plays. Don't get me wrong Osufan, good guy, nice buckeye that did the right things, but I have never quite understood why everyone thought he was so good.

Tyler I enjoyed watching since your Colerain days.......well not really as I am an Elder fan!   You had some great games, great plays and showed great heart in face of all the adversity you faced.

The defense just looked "off" this season.  Why do you think that was?   Did the loss of Nathan Williams effect the game plan that much?

Thought you were going to have your 6th win over Michigan, almost.  You played a good last game against them, your stop at the goal line unfortunately didn't turn into a score for the Buckeyes.

Vince
