Congress will return from its Winter recess, soon.
Will it vote to pass SOPA [The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)-H.R. 3261]? If it does, millions of websites will begin to disappear.

Call your representatives in Congress and tell them to kill SOPA.

11W is a politics-free zone, but this will be allowed. The main reason we're anti-politics is because we don't want this place turning into Dem vs GOP debates, but congressmen and women from each side of the aisle support this joke of a bill.
If you want to reply to this, please keep your comments on target and related to the bill(s). Any bashing of parties or politicians not related to this bill will be dealt with swiftly.
Michigan sucks.
This bill is truly, truly awful. Please do contact your congressman. It only takes a second- most have places you can send comments/emails/letters right on their website.
And Michigan sucks.
Reddit is going black on 1/18 in protest of SOPA. There's talk of Google and some other heavies doing the same to raise awareness.
Wikipedia announced that they will go black for 24 hours as well. That's huge.
That is huge and is a reason I will look into this.
Need to get this post active again even though I'm sure everyone will get exposed to it today somehow through social media networks.
That being said - SOPA, GFY.
and Michigan sucks.
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.

Very happy to see the actions today & extremely happy to see some co-authors of SOPA & PIPA backing away from it.
While I agree with the blackouts I want to thank 11W for not blacking out, that would have been too much to handle!

@ Bucks - Is the Senate backing away from PIPA? Last I'd seen (a few hours ago), a vote was scheduled for next week.
Taquitos.

It may sound somewhat corny, but Wednesday, 1/18/12 will be looked back upon as a landmark day for the internet.
@ Denny. Didn't notice your comment until this morning, apologies.
It *might* take you forever to load but below is a decent resource for the current stance with some Senators (when updated):

Thanks for the link, Bucks. That's a fantastic resource.
Also, if you guys are on the fence about this, call your Senators and Rep for Luke and I, just because we gots no representation.
Taquitos.
This will drive you two nuts, but... while I do feel for residents of DC because they don't have true representation, I don't feel too bad b/c you also have access to TENS of THOUSANDS of job opportunities that the rest of the nation doesn't get.
Also, you're not forced to live in DC. Northern Virginia is pretty nice from what I'm told.
Fair point re: jobs. For me that doesn't make up for the fact that Congress also runs the city's budget. Congress gets shut down? No trash pickup in the city, etc.
I disagree re: NoVa, but I have an irrational hatred of the suburbs.
