PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Eddie, Clarrett, Beanie... seems like a 5 pattern, and we are due for another about this time.
Indeed...he runs like Mau Clarett if you ask me. I think he'll be around a bit longer though;-)
It's Hyde now...but EzE will be coming up soon!
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
You're watching one now ...
and I think EzE will be the next.
I would like to think that as well, but feel that is the easy answer here. He doesn't seem like he has the power of an elite RB or a meanstreak, at least from what I have seen so far. Zeke is an oversized scatback/receiving back which fits perfectly in our offense. Maybe Urban's offenses just aren't conducive to first-round draft pick RBs?
NFL teams these days should not draft RBs in the 1st round unless his name is Adrian Peterson.
The least important position in the pass happy NFL.
The least important position in the pass happy NFL.
Tell that to the Falcons.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Their line coach (if they even have one) might disagree just to keep his job.
Agree with the first couple of guys. Zeke Elliott will be an elite back.
Carlos Hyde will be picked in the first 3 rounds of the draft, which in today's NFL is basically calling him elite. I do think that Zeke is the most talented back in the group, though.
When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.
I think we're watching an elite back at OSU right now with Carlos Hyde.
Hyde now, Elliot later.
Hyde, then Elliot.
Next game there are a couple.
So are you saying Hyde isn't elite? If I had a choice between him and Beanie I'm taking El Guapo. Beanie had more skill but Hyde is a freaking bulldozer.
Toledo - Ohio's right armpit
"A troll by any other name is still a troll".
because of injuries, I can agree, but Beanie was a class above Hyde any day.
don't get me wrong, Hyde is the next great back and I think with his style and ability will be great in the NFL. I just don't see him being close to what Beanie was when he was healthy. He had by far the best stiff arm ever! He didn't need to run around players or truck them, he pushed them to the ground while still going full speed! Beanie did stuff that I think I have only seen Peterson do in the past 20 years. It is a shame he is so injury prone. He could have been great!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Beanie was a better pure running back but I'd rather have Hyde because you know he will be their for big games and not injured.
Just imagine if Beanie had El Guapos durability...
Wow you just blew my mind. If he also had a pet unicorn he would take the place of this guy:
Difficult to see. Always in motion the future is.
Nice tip Yoda.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
Elliot has a bright future in Columbus. Elite? Time will tell with the OL recruits we are bringing in i'd say more likely than not. Special things to come.
Define elite...because I don't know If you noticed but el guapo has been a damn revelation since the advent of the 2012 season. He isn't going to break away and make the highlight reel runs. He just going to pound the rock and eat yardage. And score touchdowns. It isn't flashy, but its damn fun to watch. He will find a home in the nfl next year, probably as a goal to go back and short yardage back. He's a grinder...and teams like grinders.
In terms of who will be the next in line you have to like zeke. Hes a multipurpose back...top end speed, good quicks, hands. And given time with marotti in the offseason he will put some weight on and become more powerful. And don't sleep on rod smith...he's just been unlucky. He has all the tools to be a stud rb...if he can keep his head right. The job should be his come next year if he can stay focused and avoid any offseason mishaps.
Hopefully Oct 19th against Iowa. EEEEEE ZEEEEE #15
It depends on your definition of elite. I don't think we are going to see an 1800 yard season from a running back in this offense. The ball needs to be spread around for the team to be successful. Now 900-1000 yards and 500 receiving? I could see that.
With OSU's type of offense, won't it be hard to have another "elite back"? I think the ball will move around too much for that while Urbs is here.
That is an excellent point, Urban's teams have always "spread" the ball around quite a bit. I do think Elliott shows some ability that is better than most, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his exciting runs.
With all the talent we have in the RB stable right now and the fight for playing time between them, someone is being forged into a back that eats lightning and craps thunder. We just have the luxury of watching Carlos dominate fools in the mean time.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
How does someone say that Hyde is not elite after that performance? He caught the ball in the flat, pushed the pile in the middle and carried the load for this game... I don't get it.
Depends on what you personally define as elite I guess. I thought Hyde developed into a very good back last year, but he certainly had an elite game vs. NWstern. He looked like a monster. I was happy for him and loved seeing him get emotional on the podium after the game. You could tell he left it all out on the field and was spent.
Hyde is an elite back and should be a very very solid pro.
In about 11 days.
After Beanie wells, its Carlos Hyde. After that it could be Ball, Dunn, or Elliott. Each will receive a fair shake but one will emerge ELITE.
There once was a stud from around the waaaaay. EEEEEEE-ZZZZZZZEEEEE!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
No Rod Smith? Dude's a battering ram...
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
I just don't see it happening with Rod. I think Urban already has Eze ahead of him.
The issue with the Buckeyes in those "old" days, is that the depth wasn't there and they HAD to have the workhorse backs; nowadays things might be a bit different so we're unlikely to see the sheer numbers from one player.
Darkhorse Warren Ball? I personally want to see more of him this season.
In Urban we trust. That is all
Is it assumed that Brionte is gone? Sucks if so.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
More likely that Dunn is taking a RS this season.
Hopefully it will be Rod Smith. Next man up.
we will have an elite rb when we dont have an elite running qb. hyde got his carries due to braxton not being totally healthy. this offense uses the qb in heavy doses when able to
