Jamarco Jones is fired up about Ohio State’s game at Northwestern tonight because, to borrow the theme song from ESPN’s College GameDay, “the Buckeyes are coming … to his city.”
“It’s pretty exciting,” said Jones, a blue-chip offensive line prospect from Chicago (De La Salle) who committed to OSU in June. “You get to see all the Buckeye fans come through Chicago —I am sure there will be tons here.
“And it’s another prime-time game for Ohio State, and College GameDay is going to be here.”
If only Jones had a ticket to the game in nearby Evanston. But a week after traveling to Columbus to watch the Buckeyes beat Wisconsin in prime time, for which being an OSU recruit he was allowed to accept free admission, he won’t have that luxury tonight. Already committed to OSU, he isn’t being recruited by Northwestern, and the visiting team is not allowed to play host to prospects at away games.
LGHL takes a look at yesterday's recruiting events, which included a top basketball target committing elsewhere, plus we take one last look back at the Wisconsin weekend and much more.
After hosting a huge slate of recruits in Columbus for the Wisconsin game last Saturday night, the Bucks hit the road to take on the Northwestern Wildcats in Evanston. While, there will be no visitors this weekend, there's still a lot to cover when it comes to Buckeye recruiting news.
Thad Matta and the Buckeye basketball team got some bad news last night when Boston (MA) Wilbraham & Monson Academy composite four-star power forward Goodluck Okonoboh committed to the UNLV Runnin' Rebels over the Buckeyes.

It is rare that an Ohio State recruiting class is devoid of a Florida superstar but 2014 could be one of those years. That could all change if one of the five remaining targets with OSU offers decides to commit. One of those Florida stars is Shawn Boone out of West Palm Beach, FL. He is a teammate with another OSU target: Johnnie Dixon.
Both Dixon and Boone were scheduled for an official visit for Sept. 28 during the Wisconsin game, but only Dixon made it. At the time of the interview, Boone mentioned to me that he was still confirming with the OSU coaches on his official so there was a chance he would not make his visit which he later confirmed to me that he did not, but it has still not been ruled out that he could visit on a later date.
Boone is rated three stars by Rivals, 24/7, Scout, and ESPN, but do not let the star rating fool you. He has offers from the likes Arkansas, Ole Miss, FSU, Maryland, West Virginia, and the Buckeyes and many like his play making ability on the field. He took time to update Ozone readers on his recruitment.
Kai Locksley was already high on Ohio State, but the 2015 quarterback prospect said Ohio Stadium crowd 'blew his mind': Buckeyes recruiting (cleveland)
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Urban Meyer already had Ohio State in favorable positioning in the recruitment of 2015 quarterback Kai Locksley, but then the product of Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School saw a night game in Ohio Stadium.
Locksley was in attendance for Ohio State’s 31-24 win over Wisconsin on Sept. 28, the game in which Meyer specifically designed to be a showcase for his program. Meyer's strategy worked.
Not only did the Buckeyes earn their biggest win of the season in front of an intense crowd under the lights, but they also wore alternate uniforms and invited LeBron James to speak to the team before kickoff.
Perhaps the most sought after quarterback in the 2015 class – he already has offers from Alabama, Florida State, Maryland, Northwestern, Ohio State, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others – Locksley experienced a rather impressive visit with the Buckeyes.
