Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) class of 2014 wide receiver, Noah Brown, and tight end teammate, Ryan Izzo, spent almost 10 hours on the Rutgers campus, Tuesday. The tandem took in a Rutgers practice and got further indulged in the Rutgers program, as a whole. Wednesday morning, Brown explained to NJ.com what he had experienced the day before.
"I got a chance to sit in on practice, meetings and talk to a couple players," said Brown, the 6-2, 220-pounder. "The thing I wanted to see going into the visit was how coach Matt Simon (the Rutgers wide receivers coach) interacts with his players. I was super impressed with his energy and attention to detail. He seems like he is a great coach. I was very happy with my visit."
The Buckeyes are looking to add depth to the defensive line with Thomas Holley, and Thad Matta is doing everything he can to bring in a top recruiting class for 2014 – but what 2015 recruit did Matta offer yesterday?
Well, it's August 8th and the Buckeye football team is hard at work preparing for the upcoming season and week one matchup with the Buffalo Bulls. What that also means is summer camps are over for high school recruits and two-a-days are underway. While the season grows near, some of the best talent in the 2014 recruiting class are still trying to figure out which university is right for them. One of those recruits is 247Composite four star Thomas Holley out of Brooklyn, New York. Thomas visited Syracuse yesterday which will be playing their first season of ACC football, jumping from the once competitive Big East. I personally don't believe the Cuse have a real shot at landing Holley, but anytime you can get a kid on campus it gives you a shot.
Thomas is a key piece for the Buckeyes as the coaching staff is still trying to add depth to the position. With a commitment from Holley, the Bucks would be pairing him with Jalyn Holmes and three star Dylan Thompson on the d-Line to go along with the bevy of guys Urban has brought in the past two seasons.
MotSag Chat with Brandon Wimbush (motSag)
I recently got to chat with 2015 QuarterBack Brandon Wimbush who is quickly becoming a familiar name to Urban Meyer and Tom Herman. Herman really likes this prospect and an offer soon would not be out of the question. Brandon at 6″2 210 lbs feels like he is a quarterback who can move if he has too and not an athlete playing quarterback. This is exactly the answer Herman would love to hear. Reviews coming from Friday Nights were Brandon performed great an was arguably the best quarterback there.
Random Thoughts from the Recruiting Trail, Aug 8 (The Ozone)
It looks like Chad Mavety was OSU coaches’ target all along. Eluemunor was planning to commit the week after his OSU visit but it may have been the case that OSU wanted to wait on Mavety and Eluemunor would not wait, visiting the Hogs and later pledging to Bret Bielema.
Eluemunor said that OSU recruited him hard after he pledged to UCLA but sources say that Eluemunor has not been in contact with OSU or vice versa since his commitment to Arkansas.
