The latest on Thomas Holley, we catch up with Nick Wilson, plus a new Ohio State basketball offeree.
The Buckeyes are up to sixteen commitments for the 2014 class and ranked sixth nationally, according to the 247 Sports team rankings. A couple more big name recruits have Ohio State near the top of their lists, one of those being Brooklyn, New York defensive tackle Thomas Holley. Holley who holds offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida amongst others, seems to be leaning towards either Ohio State, Penn State or Rutgers. If Holley committed to the Buckeyes, it would be yet another player who competed at The Opening 2013, that took place last month. Holley is currently ranked as the fourth best defensive tackle and the twenty-eighth best player in the country. A couple of days ago, he spoke with Todderick Hunt of NJ.com. Here's what he had to say about why he likes the Buckeyes:
"Just their need for lineman and, at the same time, their alumni base; how big it is and how they take care of their players. It's one thing to have your players graduate, move on and be successful. But to have them come back and give to the school on a regular basis, that says a lot."
2015 Illinois offensive lineman Gabe Megginson was one of the many talented prospects to participate in the recent Ohio State Friday Night Lights camp. See what Gabe had to say about the camp and more.
Class of 2015 offensive lineman Gabe Megginson recently told Land-Grant Holy Land that receiving an offer from Ohio State would be unbelievable. Well, the 6-5 295 pound Jacksonville, Illinois native might find himself in consideration for just that after attending and impressing at the Buckeyes recent Friday Night Lights camp " Friday Night Lights was awesome" Megginson stated. "The competition and the intensity there really stood out to me".
Megginson, a member of the Core6 Athletes family, already holds offers from Big Ten counterparts Illinois and Wisconsin, to name a few, and had nothing but great things to say about his time spent under the lights of the Horseshoe. "I attended camps at Vanderbilt, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Notre Dame, Illinois State and this one was the most intense and one of the more exciting ones," he said. "The coaching staff was awesome; they are great coaches".
I recently interviewed 2015 standout Eric Glover-Williams from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio. Eric is currently 5″11 and 165 lbs. Eric received the nickname Superman after his performance at Friday Night Lights which is very appropriate for anyone that went or read about how well he performed. Eric is considered the best player in Ohio for 2015 mainly due to his ability to play numerous positions and excel at each of them. This camp he really got to show off his skills against some of the best dbs in the country, including our very own Damon Webb.
Eric is rated as the # 87 overall player in the country and the # 10 cornerback by 247
Ohio state has 2 major needs for the 2014 class Linebackers and Offensive Lineman. These are major needs with many players needed. OSU already has 4 OLmen in the fold but is really looking to add maybe 2 more guys to the roster. Chad Mavety may be the exact guy they need for the class the 6’6″ 320 lbs 4 star OT from Garden City, New York is a JUCO player. His experience in the JUCO is a major plus as he has been able to develop his game and improve his scholastic studies and become a much more mature guy. He brings great size and speed to the position but maybe most importantly he has a sense of maturity and leadership you wont get from a true freshman. 247sports ranks him a high 4 star and the #3 JUCO player in the country. He will graduate in December and will have 3 years to complete 2 years of eligibility. I hope you all will find his interview as refreshing and truthful as I did. There was real maturity in the answers and depth to them.
