DeShone Kizer E11 Highlights
11W Interview with DeShone Kizer
11W Interview with Brandon Harris
11W Interview with Da'Shawn Hand
11W Interview with Tim Settle
Rutgers recruiting: Analysis of Rutgers' top class of 2014 offensive lineman target, Damian Prince (NJ)
Damian Prince of Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.), a five-star prospect according to both Rivals.com and 247Sports.com, is one of the top offensive linemen in the country. He finished the 2012 season with 92 pancake blocks and no sacks allowed, yet is thought to have only reached the tip of the iceberg in regards to his potential.
The 6-5, 295-pounder sent shock waves through the Rutgers fan base when he took an
unofficial visit to Rutgers for their game against Syracuse, last October. He then followed that up with another visit to Rutgers during a Russell Athletic Bowl practice, last December.
Prince has spoken highly of the Scarlet Knights when interviewed by the multiple recruiting services across the country, including Rivals.com. But he has recently gone underground, not making the media as aware of his collegiate intentions.
Deshaun Watson, the nation’s No. 1 prospect at quarterback, finally talked about his secret visit to Auburn.
Watson is a longtime Clemson commitment, and his clandestine trip to Auburn last week created a lot of excitement -- and tension -- between fans from both schools on message boards and Twitter.
“It’s a nice campus," Watson said on Saturday. "It’s like every other SEC school, but it doesn’t change my commitment with Clemson. I’m still committed to Clemson."
How did it go at Auburn? “They just showed me the campus (at Auburn), and the offense a little bit. They showed me what Auburn was about. That’s what we did.”
E11 Columbus: Award Winners (Scout)
The Elite 11 Super Regional in Columbus had talent from all around the country and the top guys did not disappoint. Here are the Golden Gun winners, Golden Ticket recipient and our analysts' top fives.
Golden Ticket Recipient
Toledo Central Catholic's DeShone Kizer walked away with a ticket to The Opening and Elite 11 in Oregon. A four-star prospect, we felt Kizer improved greatly upon his performance at last year's event, and has shown that he has made strides since the end of his junior season even. He has size and a good set of tools and his continued progression is promising.
Golden Gun Accuracy Award Winners
These guys did the best when it came to hitting the targets:
- David Morrison, Ft. Wayne Concordia (Ind.) - Ball St. commit
- Drew Barker, Hebron Conner (Ky.) - Kentucky commit
- Devon Palomino, Deer Valley (Az.)
- Chris Little, Evanston (Ill.)
- Price Wilson, Walton (Ga.)
- Luke Ruebenzer, Saguaro (Az.)
- Connor Christiansen, Fishers (Ind.)
- Colar Kuhns, Calvert Hall (Md.)
- Ross Bowers, Bothell (Wash.) (2015)
- Pat Ford, Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) (2015)
There were storm clouds looming, but the threat of rain didn't stop many of the nation's top prep quarterbacks from shining today in Columbus.
With more than a hundred quarterbacks on hand, it was a challenge to find the five or six best, but Eleven Warriors was in the house and we're going to attempt to breakdown the best performers from the Elite 11 Quarterback competition at Ohio State.
Ohio State football: Quarterback from Toledo makes his case (Buckeye Dispatch)
DeShone Kizer doesn’t have a scholarship offer from Ohio State, at least not yet.
But the quarterback from Toledo Central Catholic was impressive in yesterday’s Elite 11 quarterback camp regional tryouts at OSU. He was named the winner — over OSU target Brandon Harris and more than 100 others — and received an invitation to the finals in Eugene, Ore., next month.
As for whether an OSU offer also might be in the offing, Kizer said offensive coordinator Tom Herman watched him work out two weeks ago.
“He said he was going to go back and re-evaluate me with coach (Urban) Meyer,” Kizer said. “It being my hometown school, it would be very nice, they’re kind of the big dogs on campus. But I don’t necessarily know that they’re just going to jump to the top (if an offer does come). I’m also considering some very nice schools (including Alabama and Louisiana State).”
Tim Settle is one of the top defensive tackle recruits in the class of 2015. From Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson High School, Settle already holds offers from Alabama, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Clemson.
Sunday, he'll try to be one of a select few rising juniors to earn an invite to Nike's The Opening, the prestigious showcase event held in Oregon at the Nike Campus. To do so, he'll have to show out at the Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus, Oh.
"I want to be the top underclassman here and get invited to The Opening," Settle said. "I'm going to try to not bullrush, and work on my hips and my agility. My game gets better and football gets easier if I can do things in combination."
