PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Named top four of tOSU, ttun, sparty and nd. Really hoping to land this stud OL.
Twitter. He announced his final 4 in an interview after the Chicago NFTC today.
Steve Lorenz (247 Michigan Insider) says that he thinks OSU is the team to beat and that we can offer him immediate playing time. Think we are still in a good spot with Jamarco, but it's not over til he commits/signs on NSD. I'm not about to start counting this egg in the basket, but I sure hope we land him. That would be a huge pick up on the OL, and would allow us to focus heavily on Damian Prince and the JUCO OL we want badly (Eleuemanor, Mavety).
true, it's not over till NSD, but i think he plans on announcing a decision at the end of june, which definitely bodes well for ohio state. jones also said he wants to make visits to each of his finalists before he decides, which he has about 2 months to do. the order of the visits could be interesting to decide. i think osu is his last visit and locks his commitment down.
i expect michigan, nd, and others to continue recruiting him, but with the way recruiting classes are now (constant contact, taking visits to commited schools together, websites, t-shirts, etc) it's so hard to get kids to flip when they've spent 6 months forming close relationships with other commits and their new coaches. some, like drake harris, have had their coaches tell visitors to basically f@#$ off, thanks but no thanks.
He announces June 27.
I think the opportunity to play early and often for us will help seal the deal.
Could be wrong... But I am pretty sure that he said once he does commit he will be actively recruiting for that team. So hopefully he jumps on board and helps us land another top 5 class, led by a strong oline haul.
Also, on a side note I really hope the chance to play from day 1 is really appealing to him as well as the other top o-linemen we are in with
He's a core 6 guy right? Either way I definitely want this kid.
Yes he is a Core 6 Guy.

Big Dave in the comments is a d bag.
Aside from the usual pro-OSU points (greatest fan base, NC potential, great history of O-linemen like Orlando Pace), he would be blocking for one of the greatest running teams in CF and likely will see early playing time. You never know until it's over, but these are compelling points. I really want Jones in this class. Keeping my fingers crossed ...
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
Anybody think if Jones commits to us in June that it will entice Knox to pull the trigger? Start building a decent o-line and they'll want to play together.
Not sure about Knox specifically, but I do think that once he commits to us that it might force the hands of other linemen we're in on. Could be Knox, one of the JUCOs, probably won't be Prince yet but I'd be estatic if it was.
Possibly, but then it gets tricky because who would you rather have, Damian Prince or Demetrius Knox?? I think 9 out of 10 would say Prince. If Jones commits to the good guys, that would hypothetically only leave one more spot for a true high school recruit like Prince or Knox, because the staff has made it clear that they want a JUCO player as one of the 5 OLineman we take. I see Knox and Prince both taking their time though regardless of what Jones does, so I think we'll have a better idea of what's going on as the recruiting process progresses.
Would be ecstatic if we got Prince, but in the end, would be happy with either. I believe we're Knox's favorite and would be hard to turn him down if he wanted to commit
If we're sitting at 4 OL and both Knox and Prince want to commit the staff absolutely would take both. No doubts in my mind
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Knox projects as an OG. So we could theoretically have Damian Prince (LT/RT), Jamarco Jones (LT/RT), and Demetrious Knox (LG/RG) all on the field in a couple of years if OSU gets them. I feel best about our chances with Jones and Knox; really don't know much about where Prince is leaning at this point, just that OSU is one of his top 5.
Even if we didn't get Prince, one of the two JUCOs would fill in just nicely
Things look good for us with this kid -- the 247 predictions section by their analysts looks very positive.
I wouldn't mind seeing us take 5-6 OL this year. We're gonna need to start stock piling bigs up front.
Right now with the O-line recruits this is where I feel we stand with them (i guess conservatively)
I read that moving to Ohio was a prank started by someone else, but I didn't follow it that close.
Looking at the 247 analyst predictions, here is where they stand for the guys you listed:
Jamarco Jones: 7 Projections -- all to Ohio State
Jermaine Eluemunor: 2 Projections: 1 for FSU, and 1 for Bama
Chad Mavety: 1 Projection -- Ohio State
Demetrious Knox: 1 Projection -- Ohio State
Damian Prince: 2 Projections -- Both to FSU
Encouraging for 3 at least. Things can change though, we'll see what happens.
Personally I am so over hearing that recruit x, y, or z has us in his Top 3,4, or 5. Someone needs to just f-ing commit!
Heard plenty of rumors that M. Jones could be moved over to DT if we load up on o-lineman! I hope Jamarco does commit to the good guys ASAP as having 3 commits on the o-line would sound the alarm to our other targets us also show our web targets what were doing to make sure they not only have weapons at the skill position but also in the trenches! It's a good time to be a buckeye fan regardless!
All this talk of leading for multiple O-lineman is like dangling a carrot in front of me... Someone make me stop running!
And is it just me, or is this class of OL being rated much higher than past classes? At least per the camp results..
