Nothing surprises me about football players these days.....
FL State LB Wants Out
Jeez, thanks a lot Mom.
And Happy Mother's Day.

This is one of the great hypocrisies of college football. If Jimbo Fisher wants out at FSU, no problem. If an 18 year old kid regrets his decision (before even attending the school), too bad, so sad.
Definitely a tough situation. If he is granted his release would he have to sit out a year like a normal transfer even though he hasn't enrolled in the school yet? It seems like a strange situation but I think we are going to see this more as kids commit earlier and earlier these days.
If the staff does not grant a release, then it's either a transfer, or he cannot get a scholarship from another school for a year. However, if they do, I see no reason why he would have to sit out at all.
Remember, though, that he was not an early commit. I agree that this is a difficult situation and that 18-year-olds being 18-year-olds, they're bound to second-guess themselves. I don't see the NCAA granting him a free out, however, as it would open a can of worms and, essentially, stretch the signing season out indefinitely.
"Signing season" is still open. It only has a starting date, no real end date (I suppose the start of fall practice is one for practical reasons). See Andrew Wiggins in bball, could have signed months ago and is still in the process of deciding.
I actually think he should just go somewhere else, I have heard letters of intent are not truly enforceable and would love to see someone challenge them.
Come to OSU, Perkins is on his way out!
is this the guy that leveled shane morris at the ua game when he tried to scramble for a first down?
Yep, fortunately for Shane his top 3 were FSU, GA, and USC I believe so he probably won't have to see him again
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
He will always hold a special place in my heart for that.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
While I feel for the kid, I think you have to honor your commitment. Think of the slippery slope that we go down if we let this kid off the hook. Signing will mean nothing because if you change your mind you can say that you were forced into it by mom/dad/brother/cousin/agent/friend. At some point you must be held accountable.

Right like coaches are? Not sure why we hold 17-18 year old kids to a higher standard than 50 year old millionaires.
So the answer to not enough accountability of a coach is: less accountability for the athlete? When you sign your name, it should mean something. Its not like this was the first time the kid thought about college ball and where he would want to go. How long does the recruitment process generally last? A year? Two? All this said, I'm not disagreeing with you Rdubs, I think the coaches should be held accountable to their contracts as well. But my opinion and $1 will only get you a cup of coffee . . . at McDonalds. I will freely admit that I don't know what the answer is to have coaches honor their contracts, but I don't think the answer is to invalidate the student athete's documented commitment.
I guess when the organization that reaps the vast majority of the benefits from the system also holds the cards I think something is wrong with the system and would rather grant a few more rights, waivers, exceptions (whatever you want to call them) to the players. This whole situation could go away if FSU just releases him, then no one even talks about it unless somehow he ends up playing FSU down the road. And honestly if I were FSU's coach I would release him because the last thing I would want in my locker room is a kid who doesn't want to be there.
Fair enough, man, fair enough.
I completely disagree with you Buckeyeneer. That stuff for $1 at McDonald's is not coffee, unless you're comparing it to that stuff that comes from Buckeye Donut.
Too bad for FSU. He has Rhodes Scholar written all over him.
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
Kids should not have to have their parents permission to sign to a college.
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.
Some are still under 18, so then it is required. Otherwise it is not required, but parents are obviously going to be involved in the decision. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.
I heard he just doesn't wanna play for a guy named Jimbo...
