PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Looks like Harris has finally received an offer from the staff... Which QB do you expect to commit first?
I believe both QBs offered have said they are planning a Summer announcement, could be interesting to see which one OSU takes
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Glad to see Harris offered as well!! Would be crazy if we landed neither.Certainly hope for the best, but Harris is gonna be a hard pull from LSU and Allen, despite his enthusiasm about the offer,is gonna be a hard pull from out west. That said, gotta get these guys on campus to have a real shot with either one.But its a good problem to have if both want to jump on board.
I dont think LSU has offered. Most likely because they run more of a pro style offense and Harris appears better fit for a spread type offense
Your right, meant to write Louisianna area.Know he's got Arkansas.Texas A&M,and a few others that have offered.
I was surprised by the offer to Kyle Allen, but I watched some highlights of Brandon Harris and he looks like fast, shifty and an accurate passer to boot. I think he fits the offensive system a lot better than Allen does
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Honestly, I like Allen better than Harris. I would feel fortunate to have either and this is not a knock against Harris if by chance he happens across this post. Allen has a much better (Accuracy) arm and is capable of escaping pressure in the pocket. He may not be the type of quarterback you want if you plan on having multiple designed quarterback runs like we have seen recently with Braxton. If Meyer wants to make the QB run a staple of the offense moving forward then we need to go with Harris. He definitely needs to bulk up if this is the case. I didn't like the way he finished some of those runs and I question his durability at the college level. These are things that can be corrected though. I am excited at the possibility of having an effective passing threat. We dealt with a lot of stacked boxes last year and never truly exploited that. I am happy that both are considering us.
It's not like Braxton is that durable either. He got hurt a lot in high school, and he gets hurt a lot in college. Doesn't help either when he runs the ball 15 or more times a game. He gets shaken up a bit more times than not after hits
True-would you rather be hit and weigh a muscular 215 or a slight 185? That is my only point. Your comments about Braxton's durability are correct. His willingness to take a hit for the possibility of breaking a run is what gets him hurt. If Harris shared the same mindset I would worry for his life.
Yeah, but Allens' passing stats are crazy good!! So you pick your poison.Do you take the kid who slings it all over the place with stats and wins,or do you take the kid who looks more like Brax with the running ability??Tough call, either way.If I had to choose right now, give me Allen.
I'm just happy to be here
I've felt for awhile, especially since it's become clearer that Watson is pretty solid to his Clemson commitment, that they should offer a few QBs and take the one that commits first. I understand that there's some value in being one of two guys that OSU's offered at the QB position, but if there are a few that are interested, I'd say why not? They do it with every other position (RB, WR, CB) -- the difference being in this case they have 4 or so offers at to QBs, and will likely only take one, whereas they have (complete guess) 20+ DB offers out there for around 4-5 spots. So the over-offering is something that happens at every school and with every position, so they might as well offer a few guys they like at QB and take whichever they can wrangle in.
I think we have a good shot at both Allen and Harris, so I'm not entirely sure which (if either) we'll get. I'd personally love either though. Both seem to really love OSU, as well. The big thing with Harris imo will be how he reacts when/if LSU (the home state school) offers him. IRT to Allen, he seems to have loved OSU for quite awhile now, but he's getting a lot of attention from a lot of different schools, so he'll be able to pick and choose.
I'd also love a 5th and final QB offer to go out in the form of Drew Barker, but that's just me. And I'm fine if it doesn't.
With Harris getting an offer, i really think he is ours to lose. And he dosnt even have an LSU offer according to 247, scout & rivals. So unless LSU offers him, i think he will be a Buckeye
Think they offered both around the same time to pressure one into making a decision quicker than the other? Not a full court pressure, but that little birdie in the back of their head saying "This is not a done deal, there is one other person that could commit. Should I do this earlier?"
What do you think? Anyone?
I think you are exactly right, and I think if these two (as well as possibly Darlington and/or Barker) are looked at equally in the eyes of the OSU coaching staff, then this is the best possible way to go. Do they take a chance and play out their recruitment longer, or, if OSU is really a school they could see themselves at, do they go ahead and pull the trigger to reserve their spot in line?
Only downfall here, IMO, is the risk of a commitment, and then possible de-commitment. You don't want to rush anyone into something before they are ready, but at the same time this is a chance in a lifetime for these young men.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
These were exactly my thoughts yesterday when they offered Allen. Maybe partially to make Harris want it more? Probably not, but I thought about it too.
Agree 100%^^...I think the coaches are seeing how fast these kids are committing and are trying to snag one before its too late, not that we NEED a QB in this class, but I'm all for competition and stacking up the depth chart.. Is Barker next??
To me, this says that they view Allen and Harris as equals, and it's just pressure to get one of them to commit (as they're both high on OSU).
You can add Darlington to the QB mix now!! More QB chaos!!lol
Some people are saying Harris had his offer yesterday, but the news didn't break until today
