PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Per Alex, apparently we had a surprise visitor this weekend...anyone know anything?
no. Not me.
REALLY!!!! tired of Alex & the Alex references. He's GONE - putting a link to a pay site away from this site is a joke.
To clarify, I was just wondering if any of the staff/anyone here heard anything about it. Generally, people like to have a source, which is why I included the link.
Dude you dont have to clarify. His comment was pretty unnecessarry IMO
BammBamm is my dog, Riley is my 4 yr old daughter, and THE Ohio state Buckeyes complete the three most sacred loves I cherish
Actually hes not gone and has posted among us as one of us with helpful thoughts. He seems to read and comment quite often on here .
Alex put in his time here and helped get this site to where it is. For anyone to come on here and disrespect him is just bullshit. He still posts here from time to time even though he works for a competitor and provides tremendous insight. Eat a fat one if you have a problem with Alex. He has as much street cred as a person could have on this sites or any other recruiting site.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Dude, you 've been on this website 4 months, & pretty sure you violated 3 or 4 posting rules. One rule is you are not supposed to post links from paysites, especially a competitor, much less one who used to work here.
I think you need to re-read the commenting policy my friend. Nowhere does it say don't link paysites. It only mentions not copying and pasting premium information. Hell it even tells you to link the source, which the OP did. Also, not sure where you're finding the part about not linking former 11W employee's new work, so if you can point that out to me I'd be pretty grateful.
Not to mention Crusher has been on the site for over a year, quite a bit longer than 4 months
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

Think it was Winovich

Gotta think that if the staff is still heavily pursuing Chase Winovich, and willing to take his commitment (yet to be seen, but looks so), that Clifton Garrett has become a non-option. Just couldn't see them taking Sam Hubbard (OLB/S/DE), Kyle Berger (OLB), Chase Winovich (OLB), Raekwon McMillan (MLB), Dante Booker (OLB/DE), and Clifton Garrett (OLB) all in one class, especially a class that's supposed to be a bit smaller than the last one. Garrett also mentioned in an interview recently that he hadn't spoken to OSU in a few weeks at least; SEC-bound imo.
@LLJJGG.....I think you are dead on.
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Right now I'm guessing Hubbard to DE but it certainly could be TE. Not sure from the recruiting which way they are leaning but my impression is DE. I doubt they would take more than 3 LBers in this class unless they think there will be some attrition. Berger, Winovich & one other. Most likely McMillan.
& that leaves Booker where? He is a must get...of course Booker could end up at DE.
edit: I should have read comments below.

There are rumors swirling on twitter that if the staff accepts a commitment from Winovich that the door will be shut for Booker to be in this class as a result. Take it for what it's worth, I believe a guy named Jbook is saying that is what he's hearing. Personally, I don't think that's possible. There's no way the staff would leave Booker out to dry and take Winovich instead in my mind. Just thought I'd pass this along though even though I highly doubt there's any truth to it.
I think they still take Booker even if Winovich commits. Just my opinion of course.
I agree with you, Booker gets in regardless of who we take if he wants in. Technically most people see him as a LEO/DE prospect anyway, so what's he's technically classified as I don't believe makes much difference.
I don't think the staff see's all of these guys as Lb's, no way Booker would get shut out. You don't tell one of the top instate kids that you have no room.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I could see us taking:
Hubbard- moved to DE and redshirted
Booker- maybe special teams, eventually moved to DE/LEO/Viper, redshirted
McMillan- special teams/mop up at LB as a freshman
Berger- stays at LB, maybe special teams, if not redshirted
We have to look at the young LB talent that we have now. Only person that will leave after this year is Shazier.
While I think your spot on with positions I really don't see all these guys redshirting. Urbans came out and said multiple times that he recruits players to play not to redshirt and if you have to redshirt you might not be good enough to play here. I could see all these kids coming in and battling for a spots on Coombs piranha kickoff unit if not any special teams unit. LB IMO is like the ideal position to play most special teams.
You think Shazier will leave? It's possible, guess it depends on his draft stock but I kind of expect him to come back for his senior year.
If he's projected as a 1st rounder then I think he leaves.
I think Shazier gets a degree. He has a solid family and upbringing. I don't see any reason for him to bolt early.
With millions of dollars, I'm sure Shazier can come back and get his degree after his NFL career is over.
I agree. You can get your degree any time, but there is only a short window to play football and make millions.
Mom and Dad used to tell me I needed to go to college so I could get a good job. I think a job in the NFL would qualify.
In regards to Booker, apparently his visit to ND went really well so who knows what's going to happen with him. I really really want him to be in this class badly but it's looking like ND is serious competition moving forward.
Was his 2nd trip to ND I think.
Awesome name. Chase Winovich.
I still would like to see Booker in this class ahead of Winovich. But I trust Urban and Co. to select the finest.
One of the insiders at Scout.com is calling him a buckeye, though he does have a visit to TTUN still on the books.

Anybody know the reasoning for the Winovich's recruitment picking up so quickly? When we finished the 2013 class and started looking forward to the 2014 class, the names we heard were Garrett, Berger, McMillan, and Booker. Does this have to do with the slowed recruitment of Garrett? It just seems weird to me that all of a sudden we are pursuing him hard.
Anyone got info?
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Hubbard could also potentially end up as a LB. I personally think he ends up at DE.
