I'm curious to hear what people have to think about the situation with Clifton Garrett and Chase Winovich. As most of you know, the Garrett recruitment looks to be a foregone conclusion that he will end up in the SEC. With Winovich, he visited for Student Appreciation Day Weekend and he left with an offer from the staff. I was also looking at the cool new 247 features yesterday and I decided to check out Alex's picks on where he thinks recruits will end up. He predicted that Winovich will be a Buckeye, and was fairly confident in stating that he believes Winovich will end up here.
My question is, do you guys think the staff is pursuing Winovich hard now because they think Garrett no longer is interested? Or do you guys think that the staff has decided to pursue Winovich instead of Garrett. I know it sounds crazy considering they aren't exactly close in the rankings, but after hearing the Garrett interview yesterday where he said he hasn't heard from OSU in a few weeks, it has me wondering why the staff cooled on him. Perhaps it's grades or something, but it appears the really like Winovich too. Just thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss. Especially considering we already have at least 1 and probably 2 (I see Hubbard as a LB most likely in college) LB's. I would assume the staff wants to take 4 LB's in this class and with guys like Booker and McMillan still favoring the Buckeyes, I have to wonder what will happen with Winovich. He isn't ranked that highly at all on the 247 composite rankings (in the 500's), but I get the feeling the staff is really interested in this kid and he could be one of those guys that will really blow up when he hits camps.
Thoughts on the Garrett/Winovich/LB situations?
