PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
What is happening? And how good was Heard? UK is doing big damage to the rest of the BIG
We are building another top 5 recruiting class, that's what's happening.
^^^What he said. Who cares about the rest.
Only Snodgrass remotely had an offer, Barker tired his best but will not get one, the other two arent even on Urbz radar - Ohio has always been a top 5 talent state in Football, so we are not going to get those guys, just like we did not want Timmons... Snodgrass Gibsoned his way out of an offer...
UK can have all of OSU's academic casualties.
Who cares? No osu offers there. This is.not a uk site n it is not affecting tosu at all. All timmons guys aka not good enough for urban
stark county football
I think Barker ends up at USCe.
No disrespect to Kentucky but it's going to take more than one decent recruiting class (which hasn't happened yet) to make a dent in the SEC.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
It is a start though, we'd be pretty happy with those 4 in our class.
I don't really think so, or at least the coaching staff wouldn't be, considering Snodgrass tried to commit and was told no thank you, let's hold off on that for awhile, along with neither Barker or West receiving an offer at all. And Heard is a transfer at a position where we are worried about losing our current players to transferring for more playing time, rather than being interested in receiving a transfer.
We wouldn't be. being.they don't have offers. If we were uk we would be happy but this is tosu. Kentucky caliber and ohio st caliber are way different. #scraps
Considering that their commits are plan C recruits at best for OSU I don't think the staff would be happy at all and I know most recruiting geeks (including me) would be less than enthusiastic. It would take at least 3 years of top ten classes to dig their way of the SEC basement.
Ewwwwww... No not at all, not even remotely close. If they were OSU caliber they would have offers or their commitments would have been accepted.
I think you got the wrong forum for this. Here's a link to help you:
Who is Heard? And Barker hasn't committed to anyone.
This is not a uk site. I can care less who they get. Urban will get his players.
Heard was a top 5 RB and top 60 overall out of Youngstown. My point was UK is picking up the best that OSU doesnt want and that HURTS the BIG making it WEAKER.
Losing Heard doesn't make our team weaker. He left because he couldn't hack it as a RB at the college level. We are bringing in running backs that combined for over 5,000 yards and over 60 TDs. They both would likely surpassed Heard on the depth chart as true freshman.
I think he is talking about the B1G as a whole and not OSU...and to be honest, its not OSU/Meyer's job to recruit for the rest of the conference...our scraps at like t-bone steaks, if they dont want them then so be it, but when we dominate the conference year in and year out, the other members of the conference have no one to blame but themselves.
Good thing Bielma isnt around to piss and moan anymore... so how many head coaches has Urban run out-of-conference so far? Lets see, Kiffin, Bielma, etc.,
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
OSU NEEDS the BIG opponents to be much better than they have been
Why? With the playoff coming, TOSU has to go 11-1 or better and they're going to be top 4 IMO. Ohio State just needs to win and the rest is golden!
If Urban wanted them he's not going to stop going after them.
8 months to go and we are in the top 5 of more Elite recruits then we could possibly sign.
If you don't start enjoying the ride now then god help you.
Toledo - Ohio's right armpit
"A troll by any other name is still a troll".
Heard will get cut off at the Knees in the Sec. He is to tall for rb in that league. Heard will have to moved to TE or HB.
Not an attack or meant to be offensive, but are you a Kentucky fan, because dude I am hard pressed to find a recent post of yours not mentioning UK?
I have family members (in-laws) who are from Kentucky and are big KenSucky basketball fans. However, they somehow think that Ohio State football can be your first football love and KenSucky basketball can be their first basketball love. That is ludicrous to me and explains the quality of education at KenSucky. I am optimistic that Waycraken is not on as low a level as my in-laws and loves only Ohio State.
By the way, KenSucky and its fans are offensive. Feel free to offend them in any way you please.
Buckeye first dude.
Not too sure what UK has to offer outside of early playing time for these guys. Telling a kid that "at UK, you get to play in the SEC" doesnt really do it for me either...esentially telling them they can get beat down by 9 teams a year.
Stoops is selling a new era, new tradition, new winning, etc, etc. It will only work until there are results on the field, which will be many blowouts as that team is really bad.
We had an Ohio prospect fall for the new era Stoops speech that was committed with us for 10 months and still left after we sent the entire house of coaches at him to try and keep him. Whatever though.
I agree to the point that OSU needs the B1G to be strong only from the vantage point that it will help strengthen us as a team playing tougher competition in the B1G, much like we just saw in basketball. When the playoffs arrive, your team is more prepared.
If your point was that OSU will have a harder time making it to playoffs, I tend to disagree. OSU has already committed to strengthening their non conference schedule (as evidenced by Oregon). TTUN will be ranked every year and Penn State will be back after their sanctions are over, so a one loss OSU team is a shoe in every year for the playoffs (especially with the money we bring to travel games, which we all know is a factor).
We also can't discount the fact that Kentucky is also a regional school (though not in the B1G)that now has a decent coach, so if a kid wants to play close to home (Snodgrass), UK is a good choice for him if he doesn't hold an OSU offer. Facts are facts; like always we can't get all the Ohio talent, and now it looks like the SEC might be the benefactor as opposed to historically the rest of our league, but I wouldn't call it big damage.
Waycracken, Timmons did commit to UK right?
Not Waycracken, but yes, Timmons did commit to UK. My UK friend (and, I guess, the general UK population) is giddy with all the excitement that Stoops is bringing to the program. Giddy. He said that Stoops has already said that he and the UK staff are going to recruit Ohio hard. Previous staff did not, for some reason. He feels that they won't get the OSU committable offer types, but will get the kids who might have gone to mid-tier B1G schools, and will get the in-state kids who would have gone elsewhere. Bummer for them is that their hated rival, Louisville, is doing quite well with Charlie Strong. So we shall see if the bloom is off the rose if they have a couple of crappy years and can't reach .500.
Its a three-way tie with Kentucky, Louisville, and Tennessee as the up and coming programs with good coaches in the close southern proximity of Ohio. We should be weary of them but at this point they aren't a threat and as long as we have King Urban, they never will pose a real challenge. That said, we will lose out on a homeboy here and there who wants to play for his 'home' school but none of the three got no dibs on the talent that belongs to us and we actively persue.
Who even is this Heard kid?
A prospect out of Ohio that we signed that never became much of anything. He was from Cardinal Mooney. He was getting moved to defensive back and had a fit and then they tried to move him to WR and he had a fit and transferred. That happens with players who think they are better than they are.
You mean who ever heard of Heard ?
He was a highly rated Top 5 RB in country and Top 60 overall. Not too shabby. And from Ohio. Rushed for 400 yards avg 7 ypc last year for Neb
and didn't get a sniff from OSU.
Love seeing the UK faithful get excited about football but if they think they are ready to compete with OSU in recruiting then they will be disappointed. They seriously believe they beat us out for Snodgrass.
51,000 at spring game yesterday for UK. 37,000 for the Buckeyes. Whats wrong with this picture? Urban and the 12-0 Buckeyes deserved better than that!!!! Some recruits were not too impressed with the Cincinnati experiment.
It looked like more than 37,000 to me, but even if it was that number, that's not too shabby considering they were 2 hours away from their own house & it was a Spring game. I would guess that if UK were to travel that far from their own stadium, they would not have reached anywhere near those numbers. That said, I personally hope that the OSU Spring game returns to & stays in The Shoe in the future, it is much, much better for recruiting that way.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
You do realize it was 2 hours away from campus and in the least OSU-supportive city in the entire state right? If it was on campus there would've been nearly 80,000 I'd bet
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I see nothing wrong with that picture. In fact, all I see is that Kentucky had a good turn out. Michigan only had something like 18,000 at their spring game, and last year OSU had nearly 80,000 on a horrible weather day at the shoe. I bet if it would have been in Columbus there would have been more than 80,000 that showed up. So I don't in fact see anything wrong with the picture good sir. And with the comment on recruits, who would you be referring too? Most recruits in fact gave it a good review and the only 2 prospects that were in attendance that the Buckeyes are hard in pursuit for are Derek Kief and Austin Roberts, and I believe those two will be Buckeyes so not sure what exactly you are getting at with that comment. I'd love it if you could elaborate on which recruits you talked too that weren't impressed so you could enlighten us.
And referring to it as the "Cincinatti Experiment" makes you look really out of the loop fyi. It wasn't an experiment. They couldn't have the spring game at the shoe because of renovations/construction and therefore had to resort to relocating the game to Cincy.
Actually I knew about the reason it was moved. I called it Experiment for one reason, and that is they could have chosen another venue. I heard an estimate that 90% came from Columbus area to Cincinnati. The remaining 10% was from other places. My opinion is that they would have had a better turnout in Cleveland.
Yet you wanted to try and somehow make UK seem superior to OSU in your earlier post? All this based on attendance at a spring game 2 hours from our campus? Stick to basketball.
Skid is a cool name. Went to see Skid Row Warrant and LA Guns Saturday in Tucson. FYI I am in no way comparing UK to the Buckeyes. I am happy to see however UK picking up the first tier recruits the Buckeyes pass on. Just yesterday they picked up another 4 star RB from Ohio.
In all seriousness though Waycracken which recruits were none to impressed by the "experiment"? I feel that claim should be elaborated on because otherwise it seems like an unsubstantiated ruse to get people fired up in my eyes.
99.99% of all threads in here are unsubstantiated. Therefore most anything in hear is an opinion based forum and most often validated by articles they read, trending a combination of both or bogus. I had 4 different friends attend the Spring game and all 4 said it was painful to sit through most of it. They commented how bored the recruits looked. I came on this venue to find info. There was very little. I give no emphasis on a recruit being interviewed. We all know most of them are intelligent enough to say the right thing. My purpose was to cause a ruse? I stated an opinion, you disagree and think Cincinnati is a great secondary fit for our Buckeyes. I disagree. Welcome Stadium would have been better for the core fan base.
Everyones always hatin, waycracken. F*** em.
How many uk fans would have traveled 2 hours to watch the uk spring game? 20 uk fans i work with said they would not have traveled that far.
I too want to know what recruits were not impressed.
Well Waycracken, as the late great colonel sanders said "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken".
Well TDibble. Hopefully your nothing like your Uncle Rob Dibble. I remember Dibble fighting with Lou Pinella and if I remember correctly lost.
Way: how many uk fans would have travelled 2 hours for a spring game? 5000?
Probably pretty close. NP with you Bucktu
Wrong again good sir. It's spelled and pronounced like Bible with a D. I always love educating folks on such a simple, yet apparently difficult to grasp concept.
+1 for calling Rob Dibble my uncle though. Believe it or not that's far from the first time I've heard that one lol
