Espn has a pretty nice article about Jabrill and his upbringing. He's a great player but it sounds like he's a really good kid too. He's one of my favorites in this class and would be a huge pickup. Hopefully urbs can work his magic.

Lattimore and Peppers are my most wanted recruits. To say he's a stud would be an understatement.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Definitely a really good one.
Everything I've heard sounds like:
1. Stanford
.
.
2) OSU
3) Michigan
4) LSU
^i.e. Stanford with a sizeable lead, 2-4 being a mix-up. Only thing I have to wonder though, is how much has he visited Stanford? Does he have family out there? Despite its academic advantage, the distance between New Jersey and California could be a genuine deterrent for many recruits (particularly the reality that going to a California school means family living in NJ won't be able to sit in the stands for most of his games).
Yeah especially with Rutgers joining the big ten ohio state will be playing games in jersey plus baltimore vs navy
that's the impression i got too. i think there's a decent gap between osu and michigan though. i think that's likely to close a bit once he visits both and talks to both coaching staffs in april. not that he won't have a good visit with osu, but there seemed to be something going around that hoke was looking at nfl jobs that turned jabrill off to michigan a bit, and his visit will show him otherwise.
lljjgg, have you read anywhere what he wants to study? academics will likely play a big role, and if michigan or osu can provide a comparable (albeit not quite as impressive) level of education as stanford in his prospective field of study, that may help close the gap. palo alto is a LONG way away from new jersey, and if he doesn't end up at stanford, i'm blaming that
@NMaxwell: That's a good question, I don't know the answer to it! You're right though, area of study could be a factor down the line. I've heard that area of study (was it originally Engineering, now moving to Sports Management? I could be mistaken on that) is a definite factor in Da'Shawn Hand's recruitment -- along with how much he likes the coaching staff at his top 5 schools, etc.
i think da'shawn met with a sports management professor during his visit and came away interested. no idea how much of that was the excitement of the visit and how much of it was him really considering what fits his personality. hand's recruitment will probably go until close to NSD, so he has plenty of time to decide
Guys I don't think an Honorary doctorate in the field of his choosing would influence his decision.......he's not leaving the south.
I hope I'm very wrong.

@Fitzbuck: I hope you're right if it means he goes anywhere but Michigan! hahah. With all due respect to my man NMaxwell and his Wolverines. Hand opting for Michigan would be a trend-setter in their 2014 class and a bit of a punch to the gut. That said, I'd rather him go to Michigan than Florida or Alabama. But VaTech (very possible) or UVA (longshot) would be ideal for me assuming OSU doesn't manage to ever crack his top 5.
But I'll shut up about Hand now, being that this is a Peppers thread! Could you imagine a secondary with Apple, Burrows, Webb, Peppers and Bell in the future? Aside from the fun names, easily a dominate LSU/Bama-esque secondary from the National Championship game two years ago -- if not even better than those.
If his last name was a food I would be concerned.
Lets hope Hoke doesn't need a hand for his butt while he smashes his taco.

Pepper...damn has Hoke offered him yet?
If not he hasn't needed any.

If the kid's first name was Stuffed, Hoke would be all over him- plain peppers don't move the needle for Brady.
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
you guys definitely have a loaded secondary for the future. funny how you left conley off that list, when he's a guy michigan obviously really wanted. i think he's the perfect mold of where the CB size is going now to combat all the 6'4" athletic freaks that keep popping up these days
I might disagree that Stanford is ahead of us. I would put us at even with them. All signs a few months ago were he was going to commit to Stanford until we offered him. I'm pretty sure he had come out and said OSU and stanford were tied as his favorites as well
it's definitely very close. i think michigan could push into the picture a bit more now that he knows the members of the coaching staff that are most important in recruiting him intend to retire at michigan. there's academic appeal as well, depending on what he wants to study.
still a lot of ground to make up on either stanford or osu, but i would definitely say they (including michigan) round out his top 3. all other schools in his top 5 have shuffled around and been relatively interchangeable
ahh, mature and appropriate use of the downvote. thanks, guys!
Upvoted you to try to even it out!
Last I heard it was neck and neck OSU/Stanford with others trailing. When did Stanford pull ahead?
It's been rumored for some time that Stanford is the leader, but he is skeptical of the distance. The distance factor has OSU tied or very close to Stanford

Ill take Bell Peppers any day!

This will be another dog fight...just like with Bell (^^I see what you did there too Army Buck). However, don't think for a second if OSU has a better year and wins in the post season games that they won't lead for his services over Stanford, TTUN, ND and the others he mentioned. Many have said records don't have much to do with recruiting or landing a recruit. I believe he said the numbers don't lie...seems to me that means...if you win...they will come;-)

agreed with the maize n brew assessment. peppers has the height, which you can't teach, along with the fluid hips and ball skills of a much smaller corner. plus the kid looks like he has been in a college strength program for a few years. most corners his height are 175 in high school
Obviously, I want Peppers, but if Michigan can land one of Peppers, Juju Smith, Adoree Jackson and then either Westphal or Nick Watkins, I'd be ecstatic. Really, any 2 of the 5 would be great news.

yes please! obviously we have the best chance right now with westphal, but i think michigan's staff could grab juju smith from the west coast. won't really know how real the interest level is from adoree' jackson or watkins until they visit. hoping peppers has a great visit this week too.
Juju Smith recently put OSU and UM in his top 5, no? Hopefully not a Su'a Cravens scenario where he puts midwest schools in his top group but has no intention of leaving the west
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
i was hopeful that su'a would potentially leave the west coast with his visits scheduled. i know he had one planned for michigan, and i believe osu as well. cancelled them due to school (i think) and planned his announcement the next month. nothing ever happens unless mich/osu can get some of these guys on campus
and yes, they're both in his top 5
Read prior to signing day an interview with Su'a that the major factor that kept him from giving OSU or Michigan a real shot was the weather. Kind of frustrating when you hear that kind of thing, considering 1) imo the Midwest really only gets maybe 3 solid months of bad weather a year, and 2) you're going to have to play in the cold when you go pro anyway, might as well get used to it.
Ah well, what can ya do. In OSU's case we got Vonn Bell who I like just as much if not more than Cravens anyway. But you do hear that weather reasoning from time to time.
I have no hopes for or interest in UM recruiting, unless of course they take someone that tOSU REALLY wants, but they will do just fine under the current management. While I think that Hoke and staff are good recruiters, I will take our coaches any day (although Mattison is very good) for both recruiting and coaching and program building.
Jabrill Pepper's tweet. Assuming he's talking about his upcoming OSU visit.. the kid seems to be pretty hyped!!
Agreed he seems very excited about the trip. He is visiting UM first though (on his way there right now) so I hope he is more hyped about the OSU visit
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Crossing fingers at least. The thought of him joining us sends chills down the spine when you look at the talent we have in the secondary right now.
Hmm, issue with embedding tweets? Peppers tweets from yesterday for those following.
