I realize we all wear Scarlet-colored glasses here, but objectively speaking, I wouldn't.
Ole Miss has some 3-4 elite recruits, but there's a quick drop-off after that group. Alabama has a great class, but w/Kamara it's largely reliant on the fact that they have 4 top 100 RBs (no way more than 2 of them will ever even see the ball). Don't get me wrong, Bama has a fair share of other great players (Dee Liner, Reuben Foster, etc). Florida, to me, has the most well-rounded class next to OSU's--but I prefer ours, which in my opinion out Florida's Florida in regards to talent at the skill positions. Urban said when he first took the job that he needed an infusion of speed & skill talent -- and my goodness, has he done that in the last two classes!
I could understand an argument for Florida's over OSU's from a Florida fan, but I think with the exception of VH3 there's no one on Florida's class that I would trade for. What do you guys think? Does Bama or Florida REALLY have better classes than OSU?
*Edit: I'm making the perhaps unfair assumption that we keep Ezekiel Elliott. Even if we lose him, however, my opinion would remain relatively the same. He fills an important role in our class though, for sure.

No... it's geared towards our specific needs. And it kicks ass.
Yes... I would trade it for Bama's if they also threw in Ole Miss' class
D. Anthony
I wouldn't trade it for anyone's. Almost all of our dudes are good kids personally with good grades and clean records that are hard workers. Urban has learned from his behavior reaches from his Florida days.
I should down vote this blasphemy...But I won't because I'm in too good a mood...Go Bucks!
100% of unprayed prayers go unanswered
Amen Brother
No blasphemy, I answered that I wouldn't! Or is it that I even asked the question? If so, I can understand haha.
The point of the thread was more to brag about us having the #1 recruiting class in my mind than to consider trading it, lol.
Here's a better question. If you knew this class would lead us to a national title would you still trade it? I'm thinking...no.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest.Civil.War.Analogy.Ever
This class is exactly what we need for UFM and his plans for OSU ... just wish we had a commit that played D-Line named Dee Liner.
JT
Only trade I would have made is the one we did make. We got Bell and Clark for Jacobs with a possible recruit to be named later (Townsend)
YOU GUYS DESTROYED RECRUITING TODAY. GREAT JOB ELEVEN WARRIORS STAFF
Holy indigestion and diarrhea Batman! Now that's a burger!
2 weeks ago everyone said if we can pull one of Wilson, Clark, Bell to go along with the class it would be a solid class....well Urbz managed to bag all three, and keep Zeke...this class has to be one of the most talented ever to come through
You're right. If you would have asked me if we'd manage to get 1 of Wilson, Clark and Bell--I would have said it was possible, but optomistic. To get all three is unbelievable to me.
It is an amazing haul. Proof that Meyer is a great closer.
No way would i trade! Not only are they good football players but they seem to be good kids as well. Go Bucks!!
You have to hate losing more than you love winning! GO BUCKS!!
No way. I really cannot see how you can really top this class in terms of filling our needs and the types of players we got.
Florida and Bama had great ones as well but you can really make an argument for any of these three teams as #1 but I still would not trade what we have.
Would USC's decommitments count as a class to trade for? Just kidding wouldn't trade our class for any!
Bama's class reminds me a lot of usc's class back in 2007, multiple 5 star backs but they didn't know how to give everyone the ball. If there is one class that I might trade it for it would be Florida's but even then it's just being picky.
I find it very interesting that OSU's class, ranked #1, #2, and #4 by the three major services, gets all of its strength from guys in the "consensus" 50-100 range (just eyeballing it there, but that seems about right). I believe Bell is the highest ranked recruit by any service, at 25 on Scout? Mitchell is 26 on Rivals and 28 on Scout. Every other ranking from any service of any recruit is below 30. It's by far the deepest class I believe. Every other highly ranked class gets there because of 3-5 consensus top-25 players. So I'm wondering if there was a conscious decision made not to go after top-25 guys, but instead to put together a deep class of kids with chips on their shoulders due to being not quite the best, according to the scouting services. If so, I think it could prove to be a very smart move. I have to believe that those guys will be more motivated at OSU than Nkemdiche will be a Ole Miss. He's a bigger name than the Freeze - easy to get complacent.
Thought Eli Apple was 11 on ESPN?
Not sure, I only checked Rivals/Scout/247. But I think that doesn't change my point. Bama/Florida/ND/Ole Miss/Mich (the serious competition for top-3 spots) all get there through either more top-25/fewer top-100 guys or through sheer class size (Mich at Scout). I'm not saying there's a huge difference between 50-100 and 100-150, but a consensus top-3 class with only a sniff of top-25 by a couple of recruits, relying entirely on 50-100 range is ... unusual? Could be a coincidence, but may not be.
No.
Remember when Ohio State missed out on Quick? Neither do I.
Blessing in disguise that turned out to be.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
nope!
I love this class, really think we could of got some Higher rated players, but they were passed over by the staff for one reason or another, which means this is possibly the perfect class for Ohio State. We could of got Green, Foster(WR), Gibson, and a few others, but we didnt want them, so I really dont think we could have done any better. Urban is the Chef and he handpicked all his ingredients.
I hear "we could have got Green" a lot, but is there anything to back this up other than him liking Eddie George?
He actually recruited Grant to OSU when Curtis was going through the process. Also been mentioned he has always been a Buckeye fan and for most of the Spring/Summer had us at #1
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
The best recruiting class to ever suit up for the S&G was 1998. There were only 16 kids, however 11 of them went on to be drafted by NFL teams (bolded below). This class, in my mind, is the gold standard for which all other classes should be compared to. I think this may be the class to replace Cooper's 1998 group.
-Steve Bellisari
-LeCharles Bentley
-Nate Clements
-Mike Collins
-James Cotton
-Ivan Douglas
-Cie Grant
-Scott Kuhnhein
-Jamar Martin
-Donnie Nickey
-Kenny Peterson
-Ryan Pickett
-Derrick Ross
-David Thompson
-Jonathan Wells
-Julius Yeast
Time and change will surely show how firm they friendship... O-HI-O.
this is one of my fav classes too, 2 of my fellow alums (mckinley) in bold their, wasnt doss(3rd bulldog) in this class too?
O'Deez330
stark county football
I could've sworn Doss was in that class.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
I'm a little young for that class, '02 and '05 stick out for me.
I love this class. If I were an analyst, I would probably give Bama the nod, but only slightly (I wouldn't trade, though). I think we're a little thin at OL in this class (but could be better if Munger/Price switch) and bigger WRs. I think Bama wasted at least one spot on RB. Does anyone remember Dee Hart? He was a five-star a few years ago and will be a seldom-used junior for Bama next year. Maybe this will be his year, but I wouldn't cross my fingers.
Our depth is on D and I think we have an amazing mix of players who look to make an impact early (Bosa comes to mind, as well as one of Bell, Burrows, or Apple), as well as guys who I think will turn out to be steals (Sprinkle, Lee).
I hope we can work out the Townsend situation and this class will really be complete. An amazing finish that was overshadowed by the splashier commitments nationwide, but left nobody on this site disappointed. I cannot fathom how this staff would not be completely exhausted. I hope they have gigantic steaks, tumblers of scotch, and glasses of wine in front of them as I type.
Umm, I'd take Alabama's class in a heartbeat.
I hope your joking our class has the best talent across the board hands down..I think this might be the best class I've seen in my life and maybe better than woody's 68 guys if things turn out like urban has planned.
Best class you've seen in your life? You're not very old then.
Look, we have a great class... But ours is certainly not better across the board.
No offense, but what would OSU do with 4 running backs?
also OSU has the better DB class and I would estimate an = DL class.
2 RBs, actually. Kamara would be a Harvin in Meyer's system, and Derrick Henry would be a slot ATH. Think we beat them at CB, S, and WR. They win at RB, OL, LB, and (narrowly) DL. I think TE is a toss-up, and each team's QBs dont fit the other's system.
Better db class, but not by a ton. They also have pretty much the best OL haul, which we need badly. As stated already, you can switch up RB for in other position, like we're doing with Wilson. Across the board their more talented of a class.
I could be wrong on this, but isn't Alabama's OL haul 1 4*, and 3 3*s? If so, I wouldn't say it's overly impressive, just better than our own lol. Michigan's OL class is much better than Bama's, for example. At least as far as projection goes--who knows how they'll actually turn out.
Bama has some great playmakers, but they have some extreme personalities as well -- Reuben Foster and Robert Foster come to mind. Saban doesn't mind taking chances with extreme personalities, but I don't think I'd want them on OSU with us currently on probation. Too many bad things could happen. I'm also one of those who think that 4 RBs while nice, is inconsequential as 2 out of the 4 will likely never see the field. They already have great young RB depth as is.
As much as it kills me to say this, I would argue that Tsun's class from an o-line perspective might be better then bama's. They did get a lot of really nice playmakers though.
What's really scary is 2014 is the real first full year for the staff to develope relationships with the top talent for our limited spaces..quality over quantity seem to be urbans game.
No, no and HELL NO! This class is awesome and there appears to be no slowing down for UFM and the boys. Great to be a Buckeye fan.

I'd probably trade with Bama, assuming you could just convert everyone to Meyer's style of play.
bamas got some studs. 7 earlies.Henry being huge to get in early.
nice OT pickup(robinson).JC OT pickup in Brown.
Foster at WR. SOLID work.
florida and ND also had nice classes. Realy like ND's Defensive recruits.
knucklehead
HELLLLLLLLLLL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BUCKS MICHIGAN SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And that's a fact JACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously I love our class this year...
That's just.... nevermind no.
When someone shows you who they are believe them! In other words piss a good friend off and see what they really think about you.
Can I just steal Hargreaves from Florida? That guy is insane
No, because this class fits our needs like a glove. Urban got several skill players that have jets and can mae plays in space. He got to extremely physical and athletic linebackers to provide depth at a thin position, he got several DBs to come in and provide depth at a position that will be depleted very soon from graduation. This class provided OSU with what it needed perfectly, so why trade it for another class that doesn't do that?
I can't honestly say our class is difinitilvely better than Florida's or Bama's but from what I've seen over the past year, Urban Meyer pretty much got everybody he wanted/needed. When that happens and he's the coach of the Ohio State University, LIFE IS GOOD!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Bama has a great class and probably deserves #1 but honestly if you compare classes I wouldnt trade and its not even close. at QB they got a highly rated Pro passer, I personally prefer dual threat guys and Urban got his #1 target. Rb they blow us away just on shear #s. Having 4 highly rated rb is amazing on the sell job Saban is capable of considering they had a freshman star this past year. EZE and if you add Wilson, is stil a top 5 national RB combo and fits Urbans system. WR they got Foster as their big name, who we stopped recruiting. Marshal, is on that level but being a HS qb might have hurt his *'s slightly. Add Clark, Smith and hyrid Wilson and we easily have a better group. TE Howard is a legit #1 but Baugh is no slouch. OL is a push OSU might be slightly higher rated but Bama got an extra guy. DL was very good to us and it may be the the second best in the nation. That said with the Robinson and Liner they pulled out the top of the class on signing day. However, when you factor in us getting Washinton and Spence last year I dont think it was a major need for us but Meyer mentione that you have to do that every year. I think line backer is a push. They got the #1 guy according to rankings but I would say our two guys at least average their 2. In terms of DB's we have the best class in the country hands down.
So Bama has a better DL and RB class than us.
We have a better WR and DB class
They are both great classes, and both have their strengths. But we filled our needs and our system they filled theirs. Anyone who says they would rather have Bama's class is crazy.
I cant wait to compare who turns out better iin 4-5 years
Nope, if you look at this years offer list we hardly missed on anybody that Urban went after. Jaylon Smith, Quick, Dorian Johnson, and Pocic. We got good enough LBs and skill players to make up for missing on Smith and Quick. The only deficiency is on the o-line, and Urban knows that next year is huge for that. Overall, very pleased with this class and I don't think any other class has both the talent and fits our style as well as ours
