What if we don't land anyone else?

As far as I can tell Clark is the only realistic recruit left on the board. I know Bell is out there but he is a long shot. The point is I hope that people realize that even if we don't land anyone else on signing day Urban has landed an amazing class and next year has the makings of a legendary class. No reason to be bummed if we don't add to the class because the future is beyond bright. Go Bucks!

How is Bell unrealistic?

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

No kidding! I don't get all these people saying he is out of reach. We are essentially tied with his hometown favorite team who he has loved since growing up and Alabama where he has visited numerous times and oh btw won a couple national championship recently. And we are tied with them! He obviously really likes OSU and is taking his time to make the biggest decision of his 18-year-old life.

Still time for Urban to work his magic on Wilson, Clark and Bell.  I think Alex is all ready to roll out a Grey Box on Feb 6th with Vonn Bell's name on it.

Coach Meyer has a history of landing big names on signing day-  Let's just sit back and enjoy the show!!

If we can hold on to everyone we got, Ill be very pleased with this class, anyone else is just an added bonus.  I'll be curious to see if we dont land a 2nd playmaker by next wednesday, do we go hard after corn elder who is now rumoured to not decide on a school by signing day.

Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens

Think we have a very legitimate shot at landing Bell. In fact, as good as any of the three.

I've got to believe the staff has a good feel about landing at least one more playmaker and maybe more, considering they stopped recruiting Ryan Timmons... And they were still recruiting him after Corey Smith's commitment, so I'm thinking Wilson or Clark at minimum.

I look at it this way, every time the fax machine runs, that is adding someone to the team. We should be adding a minimum of 23 people on NSD, so when I see the new names come up on whatever medium they decided to use this year to show who signed, I am going to be ecstatic.

I feel good about Bell, and if we land him, you better believe I am gonna be extremely happy that my expectations as of right now were 1 short. Either way it goes, we still have many people to add to our team on NSD because nothing is official until its offical.

but at the same time, I do understand what you are saying

I was given the impression that if we don't sign anyone else this year then the season is cancelled for 2013. Can anyone clear this up? Thanks

I'm not sure that it has been explicitly stated. However, it could be implied because if we don't sign anyone else, it could be the end of the world and you could extrapolate from there.  I am of the opinion that if we don't sign anyone else that the world will continue to exist and the 2013 football season will be played as scheduled.  Just keep in mind that I'm only talking about 2013. All bets are off after that.

Yep if Zeke still signs with us, I'll be a happy camper come signing day. Wish we could've pulled in another lineman, Vonn Bell, and maybe Dontre Wilson or James Clark, but I would still be happy. If we get any or all of those I just listed I'll be an even happier camper.

maybe its my scarlet glasses but i think in the end bell commits... the staff has a great relationship with him and his family, well maybe not his bro.

mark may wins douchebag of the year... again

I think Bell is as realistic as clark at this point.  I mean, it's a dead heat between TOSU and TN right now isn't it?

What happened to Bama?

buckeye76BHop's picture
buckeye76BHop on 2 Feb 2013 - 11:19am #

From what I've read/heard...they wanted Bell as a CB not a Safety.  That may have been the nail in the coffin for Bama if true...

I think this class is finished now. Clark wants to go to Florida. Wilson in the end stays with Oregon and bell goes to Tennessee.

Concern needs to be keeping the 3 wayward sheep in the flock. It is a good class. But I think Meyer still hasn't got the pivot type player he covets. Plus the o line didn't go as planned.

2014 needs all the space they can muster...they need to hit o line and wide receiver very hard.

no way im drinking that kool aid, meyer knows something, some one knows something, i just dont buy the in depth signing day coverage at osu just to watch a fax machine.  i think we get vonn bell to finish

I hope so. Them dropping Timmons is interesting. I hope they know something about Wilson or Clark. I just think Clark returning to Florida today is a big issue for osu. Both him and Timmons will be there today . Maybe osu survives...but I think they get spurned

That's ridiculous. Beautiful class as it is. Can't fill all the holes. We came in with many at OL, LB, and WR and addressed a lot of that.

Never said it wasn't a good class. But the coaches continue to chase certain players at need spots. If it ends at 23 then it was a really nice class. Getting bell and or Clark/Wilson elevates it to an A+ from an A-

Elliott is not going anywhere, he woudl have decommitted if that were so.  I think Bell wants to go to tOSU, but like others before him, he is getting the hometown squeeze.  I really hope he lets his relationships with the staff and team come to the front.  I know his Mom loves Withers so maybe, just maybe, all of that leads to a huge get.  I also think Clark really likes the Buckeyes, I know he is from Florida, but I just dont see how he would want to go to a team with 6 incoming WRs, when he could come to Cbus and gt on the field next year.  I have heard wavering opinons on Clark lately, one says Fla wants others before him and that he will be a Buckeye and others think he is a Fla lock so who the hell knows.  I think it is safe to say that no one knows where Clark, Bell or Wilson is going to end up at this point.  I just found it intersting that the staff was so hot to get out to Timmons and give out an offer and then right after Clark and Wilson leave, Carrington cancels his visit that was seemingly a sure thing and the staff decides to stop recruiting Timmons.  I have to think that they feel good about at least one of those three if not all.  Munger is solid, Worley is not going anywhere and while some speculate that EZE is gone if Wilsons fax comes in, I think the coaches put him at ease about the whole situation.  2nd great class in a row with another one on the horizon.  Meyer is getting to the point from a recruiting standpoint where he will have solid, talented depth for years to come.  Go Bucks!!!

Plz stop the EzE flip talk...It's not happening folks.  Why would a player be locked in since 4/1/12 and now flip?  He visited Mizzu bc his parents went there...they did pull a Tenn or Maryland from last year with the crowd chanting his name and all that...who cares.  I say watch this one more time (which this was created by EzE's dad for crying out loud) and then think about all this EzE is flipping business that ESPIN and Ozone created. Because they're the only ones who were saying it.  Now Mchung just changed his mind yesterday and now EzE is all OSU again...(he got his info from Tim May at the Cbus Dispatch) IMAGINE THAT!

As much as I'd love to get three more...none could be a realistic number.  However...let's look at the final remaining 3.  Bell...I wouldn't go so far as to call it unrealistic...but it's a good possibility if Vonn's looking at it as a whole...it could be OSU in the lead.  If it's who his favorite school is, then it will be Tenn.  But if he looks at playing time, his interests in major course of study and familiarity with coaches....then it should be OSU (but we all know how recruiting works...i.e. Diggs last year).

Clark...late offer, but he seems pretty interested and still interested after the acquisition of Corey Smith...which is good news.

Lastly is D. Wilson...this one I don't feel so confident about.  The OC was hired as the HC at Oregon...he said that would matter as far as his commitment to the Ducks if that happened...well it did.  He just visited TX, which makes me feel like the OSU visit was just that...a visit.

So I can see OSU landing Bell (50% OSU and 50% Tenn or less for them with Withers last visit and Clark is about 70% OSU and 30% FL...IMO of course).  Let's pray for the best and keep our fingers crossed till Wednesday...I know I am;-)
