FWIW here is how the "announcement" got to be on television:
@frank_cusumano that's cool Frank!
— Stacy Elliott#92 (@stacy_elliott) February 5, 2013

So an announcement rather than faxing a paper with a signature... Not sure how to take that one??
So he isn't commited to OSU? I thought he annoucned last year?
not good for us. you dont announce somewhere you have been committed to. but maybe hes not committed? really hope he stays with us!! you cant replace everything he brings to the table
"limitations, like fears are often just illusions"
-Michael Jordan, the greatest athlete of all time
live on local news as well. he's gone.
People thought LeBron would stay in Cleveland using the same logic, right? And didn't Pryor spurn PSU on live TV?
Edit: Neither of these examples bodes well.
Yea, but this is the LOCAL news....and with all the pull from the home state...hes a goner man.
Wilson announced last night on local news and he's from Texas.
everyone knew he was headed out of state though...he noted that awhile ago.
Everyone knew all year long in Mizzo that EZE was going out of state as well......Reaching a little bit arent ya?
I'm opitimistic that he is still all Buckeye. I am thinking he is doing this to bring attention to his school and classmates that might not have had the live TV at their school otherwise. Check out this tweet:
Another thing is, his twitter still says "Football Commit to THE Ohio State" I just don't see him asking to be the only RB in the class, then back out on signing day. If he decommits and goes with Mizzou, he would have informed the coaches by now, and I do not see any activity on trying to get a RB to flip.
But what the hell do I know anymore????
I really hope we keep Elliot, however, Wilson's Twitter page said he was an Oregon commit until just a few hours before his announcement. I also think him announcing on TV isn't a bad of a sign as others may think. They just asked his Dad last night if he'd do it as opposed to them approaching the news station. I'm about to update with that Twitter conversation.
The very thing I have been saying to myself all day, sin. What the hell do I know?!
Actually, what the hell do any of us know right now. I resort to trusting the 11W staff for the latest news, and I think it is the right time for another drink.
Dontre announced on local news, picked us...
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Dontre was switching his commitment though. If he's staying with Ohio State, he doesn't have anything to 'announce.' He's gone.
That's not good...
A second announcement on TV to re-announce being a Buckeye?
Wow,..just wow.
Agree 100%. I'm not sure why you'd schedule an announcement when you're verbaled to a school, unless you are going to change something...
This one got bizarre in a hurry!
Dueces, Zeke
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
He moved his conference up, so Meyer cannot speak on him.
He gone IMO. All this time and he backs out. Shame.
Lets all relax all the experts say ohio state for a reason
If he really does "flip" I hope he is honest and candid about why he chose to wait until basically the last month of recruiting...It would be a huge shame to lose out on him.
Still think he isn't happy about Wilson....if he is afraid of competition then he needs to go to Missouri...Mizzou is awful
Would be beyond classless to put that last thank you to Meyer and troll him like that
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
I hate that mentality though...If he's as good as he's supposed to be Wilson won't be an issue right?
if he is afraid of competition then he needs to be nowhere near Urban Meyer. He won't survive.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Who are you to say he is afraid of comptetiton. I beyond HATE these kinds of posts about recruits.
If he isn't decomitting, there's nothing to announce. Bye bye, EzE
I just don't see the need to "announce" where you're going. You've been committed to Ohio St for close to a year. He's gonna have 2 hats on the table. Meyer's presser is at 3, which means he can't talk about EzE. EzE "announcement" is at 5.
I have a baaaaad feeling about this...
we have all been told so long that the Mizzou visit was harmless.....Oh well...bring on Hurd...and if he bolts we can see Wilson run the ball more
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Trust me people when I tell you elliot coming or going does not effect what Urban Myer is doing at TOSU.. This class with or without him is AWESOME and if this kid wants to go to a school that for all intensive purposes sucks then he has to live with the losing and the unanswerd questions of what if cause for damm sure UFM IS MOVING FULL STEAM AHEAD??
"GIMMIE THAT BEAT FOOL!!! IT A FULL TIME JACK MOVE" Ice Cube jack for beats..
For all intents and purposes, Missouri sucks too.
Bucktoooooooooth, heeyaw.
I see what you did there...
I must say...I'm certainly not one to bad mouth a kid for making a decision...but cmon man...enough with the games..are you a Buckeye or not?
He's making it hard to root for him...if you are going to decommit apologize to Coach Meyer...keep your mouth shut and go play at Mizzou, quit making videos and sending cryptic tweets.
darn straight. they have turned this whole thing into a publicity grab circus.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
He has to be gone. It doesn't make any sense to have a local press conference to say that you are signing with the team you have been committed to for months. Hopefully he has told the staff of his intentions so they can move on if he does flip.
I agree. Plus, it would not be the classiest move to lead the local team on and then spurn them on television. If he was sticking with OSU after seriously considering Missouri, I'd prefer he do it in a low-key way.
He really seemed like a class act for a long time. Not saying he's not a class act, but man this recruitment is just bizzare. He just seems so jaded, and it's kind of hard to see why. If it's first year playing time he wants, then yeah, he'll get a lot more of that at Mizzou, but it's not like he'll be completely buried here as well. Hyde and Hall are gone next year, Rod Smith could be too if he really plays well (he's built for the NFL). Zeke's sophomore year, he'd be competing with Rod, Brionte, and Warren. In this system, I'd really like his chances to be the starter.
I hate this recruit-obsessed culture. You saw it at Maryland last year with Diggs, the home team just strokes the local kid's ego, and the kid gets treated like a god while on campus. That just seems weird to me.
If I was in his shoes, I'd definitely stay with OSU, but Mizzou would be VERY hard to pass up. You have to imagine that a lot of his high school friends are going there, he immediately comes in as a star, and gets treated like a god while he's there. But that can all go sour very quickly, and at OSU, he gets WAY better coaching, and actually gets to compete for a national title. That's an experience that he'll never get at Mizzou.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I have to agree with this. Man up already. He has been "committed" since last summer. I guess you can have it both ways in recruiting these days. At this point he has made it hard for Buckeye fans to care.
Completely agree. Ive stayed out of the eze threads, but there is a point where it just becomes an exercise in narcissism. The whole thing is just tiring.
If anyone needs more conformation that he's gone, go read his twitter page.
I agree that there is no reason to announce when you're already committed to a school. I think he goes to Mizzou. Hate to say that because he's my favorite in this class but sometimes it's heart over head and also the added pressure from everyone around you. But by golly its not going to hurt us. F*ck M*ch*g*n!!!
I could care less if he flips, but it would be awesome if he stays. My problem is people are acting like he is the most important recruit we are after and I strongly disagree with that sentiment. With that being said he is a great talent, but I don't think he will be missed that much if he chooses Mizzou.
What ticks me off is the staff only recruited him....and he can't say squat about Wilson...he knew they were recruiting Wilson as a WR....Green wanted to be a Buckeye...but my understanding is that Elliot wanted to be the only RB so Green wasn't recruited...he ends up going to michigan then Elliot COULD (not saying it is happening, I have no idea) flip on the final day...leaving no RB in the class.
That's why I don't understand him being jaded. The consensus #1 running back in the nation wanted to come here, and we stopped recruiting him for Zeke. Then he gets all pissy when we go after a slot receiver?
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
That's what rubs me the wrong way. I don't care if he flips (Hurd next year), and of course I want him to stay, but I will not root for the kid if he stayed committed for almost a year, knew the staff would only take one running back, and makes a flip on national signing day giving the staff NO time to recover or try to fill that void. Pretty shady if you ask me. I like how he handled his recruitment up to the last couple weeks. If he does switch, he went from hero to zero in my book.
And don't read my post and think it means I wish ill will on the young man....I wish him the best...there is no pot shots at him at all.
I definitely agree with everything being said here. Ohio State is on a mission to the crystal ball, and that's a team-wide thing. EzE is a tremendous athlete, and it would be great to have him; but The Ohio State Buckeyes are going to be just fine if and when he leaves. I would still love to see him join the good guys, but everyone here is correct in saying, it's hard to pull for the guy who plays games with the team he has supposedly been in love with for months now. Where there's smoke, there's fire, or at least a guy who gets a kick out of toying with people.
I'm viewing him as gone baby gone, and if he stays, it will be a pleasant surprise for tomorrow. Let's hope that we can pull in Bell and maybe even Clark, but regardless, Meyer has formed this team into a freight train from hell that's going straight up the rear-ends of our competition. It's simply a matter of who wants in.
As mentioned, i would love to have EZE, but wont be bummed if we lost him. Depth at RB is crazy right now, 2014 will be a good year to recruit at RB, and we are in on a lot fo the elite backs. This is the one position we could afford a decommit. We needed playmakers at the WR positions, addressed that, addressed LB positions, addressed any secondary concerns...got future QB and great d-line.
Why is everyone bashing a kid for making a decision he feels is right for him and his family? Would it be a loss to the class if he decided to stay home? Of course! He is a talented football player. But whether he picks Ohio State or Mizzu, it is his decision. Would love to have him a part of this class, but if not, good luck to him.
Who is the "everyone" that is bashing him according to you??...I have seen 1 post in this thread with a mention of them not rooting for him.
people are bashing him because he is being, for a lack of a better word, a bitch. you have to believe, no matter what you hear, dontre wilsons recruitment got to Zeke, this wouldnt be happening otherwise. they wouldnt be bashing him if he had legitimately chosen mizzou over osu but now. im kind of impartial, i dont care if stays or goes, maybe if these were tressel days and we lost him, id be livid but not with meyer at the helm. To me though, hes basically sending a message that he thinks he shouldnt have to compete for his job in college. Why? because you dominated the missouri HS football scene?
wow downvoted for my analysis of how other people feel, thanks
I didn't DV you, but I'm fairly certain you were downvoted for calling a recruit a bitch. Just don't do that
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I'm not bashing him per se...however, If you have followed his recruitment (hard not to if you are a frequent visitor here) the last month really doesn't make sense.
Also, I'm not being critical of the school he chooses. Far from it, I completely agree it's his decision and it should make the most sense to him.
The part I really disagree with is the way he is going about it. I obviously have no insight into his conversation with the coaches but on the outside he is being purposely cryptic and shady (not really debatable at this point) Making videos and sending mixed tweets when you have been a "solid" buckeye verbal for almost a year makes OSU look like a chump and him like a giant troll.
Not bashing him for his decision just the timing
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
I read that he is being honored an hour before along with a fellow teammate an hour before. He may be doing this to shed some spotlight on his teammate.
I still think/hope he chooses the Buckeyes.

If you want to be a buckeye, be a buckeye. If you dont, then go somewhere else and have fun regretting it the rest of your life. Big things are about to happen at Ohio State.
I don't think him possibly choosing Missouri puts people off as much as the timing..flipping on NSD leaves OSU w no back up option or chance to recruit another player. We passed on kids because we considered him in the fold. I hope he stays fwiw..
He tweeted from the future!!!!
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
IF he does choose mizzou, Ohio State will survive, just like we did when Stefon Diggs did when he followed his heart to Maryland. I wish him well whichever school he chooses.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
Sounds like Emily Goodloe is Meg 2.0
Hahahaha
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
I only wish the kid well but for those bashing anyone who has a problem with how he has handled this...are you serious? Hundreds of kids have made commitments to schools with a lot more class and much less attention seeking. Youtubes from Dad??? To ignore the obvious doesn't make you more mature. After months of being committed he is "announcing his choice" tomorrow following a tribute to him and a classmate. Well, OK then.
The family has handled this poorly.Mizzou is a really bad team and will be searching for a new coach soon....
But whatever EzE...take your publicity hound father and go slumming at Mizzou
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Just saw this tweet.....this will lighten the mood....
Dave Biddle@davebiddle
Weird. I just asked Andy Katzenmoyer what he thinks of the EZE recruitment and he replied with a YouTube vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzeF2Van5ns … #kidding
EzE quickly has went from my favorite recruit to least favorite. He's either going to Missouri because hes upset about Wilson or has an incredible need to be the center of attention.
Then again If I was 18 and had everyone telling me how great I was since 6th grade I would of probably been a lot worse.
I hope he does choose the Buckeyes and gets a strong character big brother like Roby or Hyde who shows him the Buckeye way.
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
I have like Cam Burrows the most from day 1...that kid is 100% buckeye
I agree with most of everyone here. Would love to have him, won't say he is not a great talent. However, if Wilson is the reason he is changing his mind I will trust Meyer that Wilson is worth the risk of losing EzE. OSU will be great either way, our national title hopes don't change on EzE decision. In the next two years there will b another EzE come along.
"I'll fire when I'm god damn good and ready! You got that?" - Pete "Maverick" Mitchel
I honestly think Meyer believes if Wilson would scare away eze, or any recruit, he would rather have Wilson. Wouldn't you?
updated
I'm sooooooo ready for February 7th!!!!
OK, I just have to ask. Do people actually believe he did all this to bring attention to a classmate?
Anyone here remember, without looking it up, the names of all the players that committed to OSU last Feb.? What about 2011? Recruiting is crazy/fun. We want the kids that want to be Buckeyes. Those that want to go somewhere else, let them be happy for themselves.
IMO, the 2013 season starts tomorrow night, we'll know our schedule and we'll know who should be on the roster. Let's celebrate those who will choose tomorrow to be part of the 2013 journey, and let those who choose another path be happy with their decisions.
Ted Ginn Jr and Robert Smith with both last second deciders between OSU and Southern Cal, it's a hard choice for alot of these kids..... it's human nature for most people to not want to dissapoint other people, so their college choice becomes difficult
Once again, I will most likely get a lot of flak for this, but I am truly stating my honest opinion.... I BELIEVE: that the kid is afraid of competition. It's ok, we don't need anyone like that. It's pretty sad that Urban was one of the first to find and offer this kid (who was very underrated at the time), and we stuck true to our word and only took 1 RB in this class. We appreciated him so much, and he goes ahead and will most likely stab us in the back. All this time he was a Buckeye commit, and all of a sudden he does all of this in 2 weeks. I really hope he stays, but if not, then he was a wuss; scared of Dontre. Even if he does stay, you have to question his actions these last 2 weeks -- why create all this drama, just to stick with your school you've been committed to for months. I just don't get it, and this is why I believe he will leave. I just can't see how this guy can so quickly change his mind, just before NSD. Go ahead, Zeke, go play for a mediocre team that will be happy with a 7-5, 8-4 season. You obviously aren't a competitor if you go to Mizzou. Who wouldn't want to play for Nat. Championships?
Ok, I'm done ranting. If he does stay, then I will look like a complete idiot for having said all of this. But I will still be agitated, even if he does stay, for creating all this unnecessary drama.
I'll be real disappointed if he flips too. One thing I respectfully disagree on is the concept of shying away from competition. The same issue can be framed as "shying away from competition" or "the opportunity for playing time."
When recruits talk about what factors are important to them in choosing programs, the opportunity to play early and/or get touches is generally considered a reasonable and respectable factor by fans. For those players who believe they have a legitimate chance at making it to the next level, the decision partially becomes a business decision. It would be entirely foolish not to consider the opportunity to show your talent.
I understand the trend of rotating backs to optimize the offense, and I subscribe to this approach. Taken to the logical extreme, however, if you have more potential NFL backs than you can get meaningful touches, then you have a potential NFL talent on the sidelines with nothing for scouts to see. It would be better for him to be with a team where he gets touches even if that team is not a national championship contender. This is the same principle behind the attrition we see every season with transfers.
When a player like Zeke begins to have rumors swirl that he has concerns about competing for playing time, a lot of us reframe the issue as shying away from competition. I personally don't believe Zeke is "afraid of competition." If he or others decide to commit to another program due to playing time, I would propose considering that they may indeed be making their decision due to their competitive nature, not because of lacking it. They may be considering how competitive/attractive they will be to future NFL scouts, and thus, the decision inherently displays their competitive mentality, albeit, from a long-term perspective.
I will be extremely unhappy with Elliott if he signs for Mizzou tomorrow and not OSU. Not because he didn't come here or chose another school ahead of us because I know it is a tought decision. But I'd be upset with him because of how he handled it.
We stopped recruiting Derrick Green because Elliott wanted to be the only RB in the class. It would be very unproffesional for him to change at the last second after being committed for so long. I know players change at the last second all the time, but doing it for this reason would be not cool.
If he does de-commit because of Wilson, then he should have never committed in the first place because Wilson is plauing the same position that Jalin Marshall is. Neither are a featured running back.
Good luck to him either way.
Come on people. It wasn't too long ago that we were ripping on the scummers for going into meltdown over Treadwell, and now look at us bashing the kid before anything is even official. Even if he flips, we still have a solid stable of RB's in addition to Wilson and Marshall, both of which can be lined up in a plethora of packages.
Don't be like the scummers, show some poise. It is what it is, I was as dissappointed as anyone by dropping the recruitment of Green (perphaps b/c of Elliott), but even if the rumors were true, thats not all on Elliott, Meyer made that choice too.
Either way, we'll be fine and ttun will still suck
Timing is everything and if he flips on signing day his timing sucks. I could care less if he decided to go elsewhere I just wish he would've given us time to recruit someone else.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
You dont think UFM has a backup plan for situations like this? He either gets someone else or he banks the scholly for 2014. Win/Win either way.
He is announcing because he visited Missouri and never reaffirmed his commit. Just because he uses the word announce doesn't mean he will go to Missouri.
We all are on information overload. Let's sit back and see how it goes.
I still think he is all buckeye.
Jalen Hurd come on down
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Let's just calm down and realize that announcing was maybe not his decision, at least not the timing of it. The school is recognizing him (its best athlete ever) and another prominent athlete on signing day. I doubt he had any control over the actual time.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Again, I trust Meyer. If Eze is scared off by Wilson then I choose Wilson every time. That is why he wins championships.
Everyone take a breath and step away from the ledge.
Please remember it is not just fans that read these boards.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
I am picturing EzE reading the threads and laughing his ass off.
This thread isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Well it isn't some of the crap you'll find on other sites but there are some troubling posts. Its bad for 11w which would be the best thread in the history of other sites.
Really, people getting silly
i never go to the ledge, if he doesnt want to be a buckeye, life goes on and TOSU will be fine.
Comical to see grown men try to understand the psyche of a teenager based on his social media use. As to his father making youtube videos, I have plenty of facebook friends that are parents. They think every time their child farts it is the most amusing precious thing that ever happened. Now imagine your kid is one of the most sought after prospects in the country, you’d be damn proud.
I am not over the commitment because anything that Eze has done. I am over it because so many people are quick to go bonkers because a teenager may change his mind on where he attends college. As for it being a “publicity circus” – good for him. Milk your moment.
It seems many are upset because he is “causing drama.” It’s his life! As important as this is to you as a fan, it is infinitely more important than him. I am sure you can endure a few more hours of “drama.”
"milking" attention and self gratification are traits many may not view as positively as you.
couldn't have said it better!
Weaving a narative about a teenager that you have never met and disparaging his character are worse traits in my view.
I know, just hand the ball to the ref - says the guy that did his own td dance in front of his TV when that player scored.
Lol. Ok bro
ha!!!
I agree. In all honesty it isn't even close to being as important to us as it is him. I think most Buckeye fans will forget about him if he isn't a Buckeye. That is just the way it goes. After tomorrow it won't be an issue one way or the other. We will all be focused on the future Buckeyes. The reality of college football recruiting. Get the attention while you can.
I think Zeke is a Buckeye when it is all said and done, think everyone is worrying too much about it.
But,But, EZE ate yellow corn for dinner so that means he has to be going to Mizzo. Bad sign there....................
All of posters that are worried about the word announce are reading to much into a simple word. Do you really think that EZE, his parents, or the news station guy thought about the syntax of the word. I dont. I think he is all tOSU.
I am channelling my inner optimist (which is rare).
Come on Mr. Elliot!!! Be a buckeye!!!! Be a part of something great!!
How amazing if he did choose Mizzou and we contact D.Green haha. Like "hey, we were ur favorites! " lol. Scum is waiting for a letter of intent... waiting... waiting... boom! Picks us last second. Hahaha won't happen but I can dream right?
The title of this thread needs to be changed to:
WATCH BUCKEYE FANS MELTDOWN LIVE
smh
FWIW still hearing EzE to Ohio State.....
FWIW everyone will rejoice after reading your post Alex. Then in 15 minutes someone will discover as another poster put it "he ate yellow corn" (I upvoted that poster- funny stuff) or maybe he likes "black coffee" and then the parade of worriers will worry aloud and then complian about the drama Eze is causing in their lives.
you have me rolling with your comments... upvote because everything you're posting is the truth though.
Thanks.
I think many of us in Ohio have a case of Lebronseantralhendersonitis. We expect the high profile guys to pick someonelse.
This is the Ohio State why worry?
hahaha...so true, we are so insecure.
I too would be disappointed if he left, and it would suck to lose a recruit who appeared to be all Buckeye at the last second, but come on people, chill.
I think this reaction is because Eze is one of the most beloved recruits of this class.
So,..does having an "announcement" to the school you are already verballed to make any sense? You usually caalm me down with your info, but not on this one. Sorry to be negative but this makes NO sense at all.
I said the same thing about 7 posts down... Makes no sense at all... He should be having a signing ceremony, not an announcement ceremony... If he flips it will be a little petty because he should've decommitted after his OV to Mizzou if he didn't want to come to OSU anymore... If he flips the 2013 class needs to make sure they tweet him a pic of the our crystal ball over the next few years.
Oh my God, people... it's getting crowded on the ledge.
I really think Elliot is all-Buckeye and his having a presser (with a classmate athlete; this is important to remember) to announce his choice is just a way of bringing this thing to a close. His parents have been all-Buckeye and very supportive and they're in this, too, so it's partly their day to celebrate as well. For those who've suggested he's on an ego trip, remember that all this ends tomorrow, in Scarlet and Grey or black and gold. Reuben Foster and others have flipped twice now and they're front-page news, so a kid who wants to have a bit of an event to announce where he's going hardly seems like the egotistical monster some are making him out to be. If Urban and Co. know he's all-Buckeye, I'd be surprised if they care anyway.
People are hilarious. For MONTHS he has been the model recruit and everyone loved him for how much positive recruiting he did for the school. You know on visits and at all star games he was right their with Marshall recruiting for the good guys. His dad's videos of Combs were awesome and got people pumped up about Ohio State.
If he chooses not to come here, so what? He's done more good in all those months for the program than the harm he's done in 2 weeks of recruiting and if he doesn't come in this class.
People are only mad because of what has been said and done on Twitter. They are criticizing how he's gone about his recruitment, but we don't know what he has said to the staff or how aware of his situation they are.
No one is worried about Trey Johnson and he actually pulled a pretty dick move on the staff. He actually deceived everyone about his trip to Tennessee, but everyone is cool with him.
In fairness, Trey Johnson re-affirmed, (just playing devils advocate here)
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Thanks Alex.
How Firm Thy Friendship....
Wanna be a Buckeye, come on down. Don't wanna be here, don't want ya, and no hard feelings. If in fact he feels spited by the staff taking another "RB", then that is his issue to deal with. No player is greater than the program, especially one that has yet to step on campus. Afraid of competition, I agree with the above. Don't come to a Meyer team. We may never know truly what his reasoning is either way. Bottom line is if he wants to be a Buckeye, the true sense of Buckeye, then he will be ... And we welcome him.
I will give it to Mizu,
Bell and Clark wil make my day.
I'm hoping Zeek is reading this crap and laughing his ass off at watching people have nervous breakdowns about his decision, and making comments about his dad.
I sit here thinking that too, and he knows about this site. Hell he may even have a name on this site and could be sitting here trolling everyone of you. I wish people could understand that recruits can read everything fans say. He could sit here and read all of this and see the negative comments of (we dont need this kid were deep enough, wilson will be better blah blah blah) and then he could go to a Mizzou board where they are probably showing him nothing but love.
Its the kids choice and not ours. Zeke wants what is best for him. If he figures that staying home is the best, more power to him. If he figures the Ohio State University is where he wants to jump start what could be a great career, the very good for him. Either way fans should be saying good luck.
The nature of the internet tells me there are people bashing him on Mizzou boards too. At the end of the day, I seriously doubt idiots on Twitter and blogs really impact the kids decision at all. They get to know the coaches and programs better than almost all of us commenting on this site or any other blog for any other team. So dumbass on Twitter calling him out or a guy on 11W talking shit about a 17 year old aren't going to make his decision for the kid. Only thing hurt by that kind of behavior is said person's image, and since it's the internet there is no real ramifications for being an A-hole.
If its true that he is scared of competition then why would he ever have committed to Ohio State, especially with Urban as the coach. That's the thing that makes OSU different than Missouri. We have competition at each of our positions. No recruit should ever think he's gonna walk in and get the job easy at OSU based on how they performed in high school. Going to Ohio State is gonna be a challenge to see playing time. You're gonna have to earn it. We could have had Derrick Green if EzE wasn't concerned about competition

Why in the world he is saying he is "announcing"? He is already committed!!!! He should be having a "signing ceremony"!!!!! This makes no sense and I am sick of the drama...
The only reason there is "drama" is because people are freaking out. He is a local star who is going to get attention from local media. Let the kid go on television, put on his Buckeye hat, smile for the cameras and enjoy his day.
I'm perplexed by the fact that all the analysts, including 11W staff, remain so confident he's staying. They must know something we don't.
One thing's for sure - fans of one of the schools will be pissed tomorrow. Because if he stays, Mizzou fans will rightly accuse him of being a ridiculous tease. Not for the little things, like taking down his OSU twitter pics, but for scheduling an "announcement" on NSD, just to re-affirm his current status as an OSU commit.
I agree 100%. Gotta take it with a grain of salt
Wherever you are, there you be!
The Price is right
I don't see how anyone could decommit after witnessing a speech like the one Coombs gave. I only watched the video and still feel like running through a wall and throwing a small automobile a half block.
Good luck to all of the recruits on signing day! It's tough choice to make that will forever alter the course of their lives.
Go Bucks!
This kinda reminds me of Dontre Wilson, he was committed to Oregon. Then set a day to announce his commitment. If you're committed what do you have to announce but a change in your decision. I got my fingers crossed its the good guys, but he already committed to OSU so....can you do it twice and does he now take two spots?!
Wherever you are, there you be!
People talk about not liking the drama.................its coming from YOU!!! Your creating the whole drama in your own head. Hanging off every word of a 17 year old kid and acting like whatever his decision affects your own personal life. CHILL OUT. Do you not see the class already? It is STACKED!!!!! Then you guys read Alex and other 11w staff say "still hearing that he is all buckeye" and you calm down for like 15 seconds then BAM right back to the worry ward.
The kid is going to make the best decision for him and its not your duty to be pissed off that he didnt tell you guys sooner whether he was gonna stick with this class or that class because its not your life.
Wherever the kid decides to go is the right decision because it is HIS and he will be getting an education and doing what he loves to do and regardless all of you should still support the kid in wanting to better himself in life.
While I would agree with a lot of your points, I've said on other posts & will say now that when you commit to a school, visit another school, waiver, don't decommit, don't reaffirm, go quiet & become somewhat cryptic - it opens you up to speculation, particularly from a fanbase as rabid as ours. It is dramatic, so I guess I'm saying that the drama is being fueled by both sides IMO...it's a pretty weird situation. I'm kind of thinking it's funny at this point. I think this years recruiting has just been more eventful than some classes in the recent past so people are suffering a bit of recruiting overload...
I got no problems with him at all - he is, as you said a kid. I also agree that some folks are getting pretty bent out of shape over something that won't keep the sun from rising, & won't keep OSU from succeeding...

Look at all these ppl bashing the kid without even knowing what decision he has made. It boggles my mind how childish grown adults can be at times. Even if he does go elsewhere it's HIS life and no reason to take years off of yours worrying about. Do you ppl even realize that players/recruits/parents read these boards...it's embarrassing.
Here's the deal...he's a kid! Who cares if he want's the attention...he's busted his ass to get this opportunity and he deserves the attention. A majority of us commenting never had this chance so put yourself in their shoes and how tough would it be for you to decide when everyone is chirping in your ear. Don't judge him because you don't think he's doing this the right way. Just wish him well...Buckeye or Tiger...it's his decision and whatever he decides it was the best decision for him. If any of you think that UFM or any of our coaches are having a hard time sleeping tonight worrying about V.Bell, EZE or Taivion Jacobs...think again. We are loaded with talent from last years haul and if we lose all three I just mentioned. Get ready to enjoy Ohio State Football like you never have for years to come.
After re-reading this thread & pretty much every other thread regarding recruiting, I am reminded that these threads have always gone the same way...there are basically 3 parties here --3 mind sets if you will regarding tension with any given recruit...
1. Scorned: "I'm angry - hope he has fun watching us win while his team sucks blah blah blah"
2. Parental/High Road: - "Leave that child alone - he's just a kid & we shouldn't judge him blah blah blah"
3. The Switzerland Approach: "Step away from the ledge folks, relax - let's just see how this plays out blah blah blah"
I know I've been all 3 of these guys at be time or another...As crazy as things seem to get, the truth is it's just a bunch of football fans without football to watch. Anyways, cheers everyone - NSD is here & will be over with too quickly. Don't worry though we'll all figure out something else to get Nuts about soon enough! Go Bucks!

Sorry but I have a hard time well wishing anyone who picks a school over tOSU. Especially when said school is coming off a 5-7 record, has the 42nd ranked recruiting class according to rivals and has a 4* RB. Y they can have another RB but we can't is a mystery to me. Zeke and company are making themselves hard to like down the stretch.

Everybody calm down. For all we know, some coach or assistant principal at his school decided it would be cool to have a press conference for their two best athletes and arranged the whole thing.
if it was Eze's idea/conference, do you think he would invite Emily Goodloe to make her announcement?
This all sounds to me like a school going for some publicity and honoring some of its students by giving them the spotlight. It COULD be EzE flipping, but who knows?
we don't have enough info to panic. Remain calm.
Playing devil's advocate here... if this Emily Goodloe character is anything like Meg, then yes.
Because Meg is a legend.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Apparently his father is rocking the grey suit with the scarlet tie
LETS GO
buckeye. what a speech.
Taking his talents?
Just had a bad flashback, followed by a HUGE sigh of relief and elation.
Hell yeah. That's why you don't doubt Alex, all the pessimists in this thread :P
YEEAHHHHHH
Man, you can tell he just really didn't want to let anyone down at home. I feel for him. It can be a tough decision to leave home even if its what best for you.
Ezekiel Elliott reconfirms his commitment to The Ohio State University.
Great day for Buckeye nation.
Didn't these guys learn anything from Dodson last year? The cameras are on you: do it up!
Everyone ok now? This class is pretty sick. A lot of hard work went into it. Great job on the coverage 11w staff as usual.
Is there a clip of his announcement? Didn't get to see it..any help is appreciated!

That offense is going to be terrifying.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
And Corey Smith... WOW
I never had a chance to read through all of this good stuff in the middle of the week. Wow, people on the ledge make me laugh!
Love this. Don't forget; they make good chocolate too!
