Ryan Timmons has committed to Kentucky. Buckeye fans wanted him to pick Florida, as a sign that James Clark was coming to OSU, but that didn't happen. Clark is still in play for the Buckeyes, but my guess is still Florida. That is a guess though and we will know at 9 AM ET tomorrow.

I almost feel like Timmons deserves a grey box on this site for him to UK. He is one of the few guys out there that I actually will be rooting for while not at OSU. I wish him well and glad we won't be facing him for the next 4 years.
WHY? For effs sake WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT THIS KID MORE THAN THE HARD WORKING CHURCH GOING KID GOING TO Ball State?
WHY DO PEOPLE HERE PESONALIZE THIS KID AND IGNORE OTHER KIDS? EZ-E is, by all accounts a phenomonal kids. Same with Jalin. YET EVERYONE HERE CARES ABOUT EFFING RYAN TIMMONS BECAUSE SOME CREEPY DUDE ON A MESSAGE BOARD TELLS THEM HOW NICE HE IS?
WHY are you yelling?
at ease man
I just really don't understand. The way this place reacts towards Timmons is essentailly the Lennay Kekua story to me.
Do people not understand that this is recruiting and you are talking about kids? Who are you or me to call some kid worth rooting for because creepshowcracken told you he has a good GPA and is a good kid? Who are we to decide what kids are good and what kids aren't? They are all kids trying to get their lives started and people here say shit like "one of the few worth"?
Well, I for one, follow the Timmons situation fairly closely, mainly because you and some other posters who I need not list get ridiculously worked up about it, every time it's broached, and frankly, I think it's hilarious.
For that matter, I think most every fanbase takes recruiting way too seriously. I enjoy following it, but I also realize that it's really not that serious. We have people on this site giving themselves hypertension because a high school kid that they liked might not go to their favorite school. Let's take a few steps back.
If you have been on this site for a while, there are some kids we root for even though they did not choose OSU. Ryan Timmons is not the first and probably won't be the last.
There is nothing creepy about rooting for any player like we have had on this site.
FYI, James Clark, Robinson twins, Derrick Green and Robert Foster have had just as much conversations about them on here as has been for Ryan Timmons. THERE HAVE BEEN COMMENTORS PULLING FOR OTHER KIDS JUST AS MUCH! Just because you narrow your sites on this one specific kid does not mean that he has been discussed any more than others have.
So relax with your biased judgement because this is NOTHING NEW!
Hold on now Squirrel, there is no way you can add all 4 of those guys threads together and even come close to the RT threads! About a month ago, all at the same time, there were 6 Timmons threads on the 1st page!!!
There were 5 EZE posts yesterday! There were similar amount of posts about Diggs last year. There are still some on here that post hopeful topics about Robert Foster and he has been out for months.
Ryan Timmons has not been posted about as much as you let on. Especially not by Waycracken which is what elastik was actually attacking! Some were from detractors just as well.
To hate on this kid for what we do or say on here is ridiculous and childish! To say waycracken was being creepy when he was just promoting the kid is inaccurate!
The obsession over recruiting has been just as bad for other recruits as has been for Timmons. There are currently 2 posts that are titled "one last Clark post" and "one last EZE post". IDK, kind of tells me there are a lot of posts about those 2.
There is nothing wrong with wishing a kid well on a team that he should succeed with. Elastik should know that and shouldn't have gone off like he did. It is obvious I am not the only one who thinks so!
Did you take your meds today, Elastik? Geez Louise.
What's the record for downvotes?
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
I believe TheTenYearWar pushed 200 on a troll post
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Hello Elastik
Once again I find myself responding but I want to let you know there is no hard feelings that I have toward you. Face to face comments like you have said could cause a different reaction but I understand this is the internet. You do have a gift in expressing yourself, and I told you this before. It is a shame you do not find a way in utilizing that gift in a more productive manner. I did down vote you tonight and afterwards didnt feel so good about doing that. If I could give you my points I would.
This my 11W friends is my last post... I am very hopeful that OSU finishes strong. I believe OSU gets Clark. I believe Clark took Jacobs place,,, I believe Jacobs wasnt feeling the love and the writing was on the wall. Wilson, Clark, Marshall and Elliott. Wow what a finish, all 4 can be contributors next year.
Hey man, I'm a 32 year old dude with three kids. I love the recruiting stuff, the same way that I love the draft. Everybody likes to find a diamond in the rough and be right about it. It's why people gamble. Shit, people do the same thing with horses, it doesn't mean they want to have an equine "more than" friend. I think that the Timmons kid seems legitimately is really, really gifted. I think, possibly more than other guys who had offers. That may not be a popular opinion around here, but that's what the boards are for, to foster discussion.
I think that calling Waycracken a creep is a pretty low blow, especially considering that everyone is on these forums for the recruiting coverage, even yourself. To me, and I think to most people, the Timmons lovefest has to do with the fact that he is a talented kid who alot of people feel that the staff missed on. Which is fine, they obviously know more about scouting than we do, but it is nice to debate the experts, even in your own mind. That is why people say that a coach made a bad call, or a player took a bad shot, because we are watching and we have the right to have fucking opinions, it is not a crime.
What I find kind of funny is that a few days ago he told me that "this place is weird" because he asked for a source and was told to Google it and was called a troll. At the time I thought that was weird, but then I started reading into some of his conversations with others and I could see why people would say that to him.
It seems more like he's rationalizing his trigger happy finger instead of just calming down and learning to be civil with others around here, or more specifically, a handful of people. There's no reason to ever get that upset with someone over the internet and I commend Waycraken for taking the high road on this and agree that if it was a face to face encounter, it may be different (but I also doubt he puts his internet tough guy pants on too), but (like I said) it's the internet and no reason to let someone else get to you like this.
Why do we admire Abraham Lincoln and ignore poor Chester Arthur??
I rooted for Lincoln and he, like Timmons, is also from Kentucky
But Illinois is the land of Lincoln....then that means.....I'VE BEEN FLEECED ALL THESE YEARS!!!!
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Funny you should say that ... Timmons could also start for Illinois
Saying you could start for Illinois is like proudly displaying your "Tallest Midget" award.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Thanks for the support
8 upvotes for this post, which is in violation of 11W commenting policy (personal attack) is very interesting.
For my part, I apologize for dissing Chester Arthur. He probably wasn't as corrupt as the history books would have us believe, and he had one hell of a moustache
I'm more of a Taft mustache fan. Gotta support an Ohio 'stache!
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
There's no accounting for taste, but I think the New Yakkers win the facial hair derby with Arthur and Cleveland, and Dewey had one of those cute little ones
I can go with the Ohio love on this, but on pure mustaches alone, I think Teddy has him beat...
I think we know where Ron Swanson got his inspiration from...
Which post? Mine has 8 upvotes and it was a personal attack on no one. I mean, sure it took a shot at Illinois' "Football" team in that starting for them isn't something one should brag about, but it was at Illinois' expense so no one of any importance was harmed.
Am I missing something here?
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
follow the subsets, it is in response to Elastik's predominately ALL-CAPS rant.
By all accounts, Waycracken is a fan of Ohio State and a person who knows Ryan Timmons, nothing "creepy" about talking football here.
Gotchya. It was the number 8 that threw me. All good.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
You were attacking midgets, Brewster.
*teasing* ;)

Midgets and clowns.......shiver
And Carnies
What about midgets who are clowns...
God help us all. I'm even scaring the shit out of myself here, lol
That is by far one of the scariest ass pictures I have ever seen!
No Surprises there. I think without the scholarship ban he'd be a buckeye. Best of luck to him WayCrackin really got me on team Timmons
Good pick-up for UK. I think he could be a solid contributor from day one in Lexington.
he knows neal browns offense, same offense his high school used. ryan will play right away.
Of course he'll play right away. Kentucky doesn't have much talent.
I watched the Ihigh session in Santiago. The kid broke down and cried thanking his friends and coaches. Stats were not kept his Freshman year and they were significant,,, I remember one of the first games against a school from Lexington his freshman year who had a player whose dad was a Cincinnati Bengal and he had a D1 scholarship and Timmons broke for a 99 yd TD run and left him in the dust.
Coach said his statistics from his sophmore year on was 22.6 yards per touch and 106 TDs. I know he had at least 15 Tds that freshman year.
He also is carrying a 4.0 GPA his senior year.
MY LAST TIMMONS COMMENT
Clark to FL if he doesn't choose OSU;-)

Good luck to Timmons!! Wish him the best and hope he breaks all the UK records.Wish we would have had room for him!!
SCOTTC.
Congratulations to Timmons. UK really wanted him. I hope he does exceedingly well there.
Elastick-why does it get you so riled up that a number of people on the boards like this kid? What skin is it off of your nose? He's a decent, very fast, hard working kid from a neighboring area that bled scarlet and grey, and nearly blew it waiting for an OSU offer. We (ok, most of us) all root for the likeable underdog, especially in college sports. Unless likeable underdog plays for TSUN, that is.
Good, was his offer to Fla even committable? I think, just like at tOSU he was just an insurance policy. I figured he wouldn't go to a big time school, best of luck to him at UK.
I did not want this kid. He was a reach in the first place or we would have offered him during the summer. Go Bucks!
Finally this kid selects a school, now hearing the name Timmons will hopefully go away!
Pay It Forward!
Thank God!
Second that. Ryan has some amazing video and ridiculous stats but there is a reason the coaching staff didn't make his offer committable. Good luck at UK Mr. Timmons!
Despite how some feel on this site, Timmons will make some teams regret not taking him. Unless he gets injured, I don't see any chance he doesn't do very well at UK.
But what does "doing well at UK" even mean? Timmons can't play every position. They have a decent class, but they still won't come close to competing with the top end of the SEC.
Well that didn't stop Randall Cobb now did it? Kids can succeed and play well despite their teams being horrible. IDK about any future NFL playing but I think Timmons could be a scorer for Kentucky.
Not to mention UK is going to be different. They may not start winning like crazy but with that offense, they will be scoring!
Don't get me wrong, I think he has every chance to do well at UK. But what if he doesn't have the running lanes? He's not playing against extremely poor Kentucky HS competition anymore. I think he'll be successful, but he could also disappear pretty easily. Michigan recruit Sam McGuffie comes to mind.
There are many examples of failures. You are kind of asking how can he succeed and then you say you think he will succeed. What makes you think he will succeed then if you don't know how he will?
I just think Timmons has a way about his play that says he knows how to score despite the opposition. It makes me think of Desean Thomas, he just has a nack for scoring. I think he wasn't highly recruited because there are other things that he can't do as well but I also think about DeAnthony Thomas and think he isn't an everydown player or is good at everything, but DAMN wouldn't it be nice to have him on the team.
I actually do believe that Urban wanted Timmons and Timmons had a committable offer. I don't think Urban was recruiting him hard, but I also think it was overblown how much Timmons really wanted to go to OSU. I am sure in his heart Timmons would have loved to play at OSU, but like some recruits, he also thought about what was best for him.
Timmons will be better off at UK, no doubt about it! I just think he will be good enough that some will regret not recruiting him. And much like what is now going on about Taivon Jacobs, I wouldn't be surprised if Timmons has a better college career than Jacobs!
Ok let me rephrase, I would LIKE to think he'll succeed, because I'll be passively rooting for him. And I see your point about DAT, but here's the difference. Urban has made his living finding the Harvin type players and getting them on his teams. It's not as if Timmons has been flying under the radar for OSU, like he had with the scouting services. He camped a few times, once at FNL. Coaches were at his HS games multiple times. If he was a sure Harvin, you'd see him getting offers every time a coach sees him. I'm not one for the "trust the staff at all costs" mentality, but when it comes to finding the spread playmakers, I trust Urban and Tom Herman more than most.
I absolutely trust Urban and what I think happened is that with Marshall already slotted for that "Harvin" role, the need for another talent very similar in style and attitude wasn't as necessary. I think it has more to do with Jalin than at what talent level Timmons is at. I trust Urban believes how talented Timmons is, hence why he did get the offer.
Let me ask this, with the class as is but without Jalin Marshall, do you think Urban would have gone harder after Timmons? I actually do. I don't see anyone else being recruited that would fit that role better. Marshall is the best possible fit for that role, Timmons is a not too close second. Elder wouldn't fit, Wilson is more of a RB, Zeke is the same. Jacobs reminds me more of Corey Brown, wants to be a RB but is better out in space. I think Timmons would be a bigger need if Marshall wasn't already in hand.
I'm not sure what role Timmons will have at UK. Randall Cobb didn't really have a position either. He was anything from WR, to QB to RB. Not that Timmons is anything like Cobb, just that I think Timmons is capable of being his own player and not fit a position. But I think he would be a slot WR for the most part. I think his biggest thing will be a returner. He is so dynamic that he has to return either punts or kickoffs. I think that is where his value is at its most.
UK has been playing the Georgias and LSU's and the Alabama's more competitively than the BIG schools has. And by all accounts they do have a good recruiting class so it should improve.
I have posted it before but look at the yearsss Auburn, Alabama and LSU won the NC. UK has a victory and a few other nail biters at the end. Then look at the BIG and see how they did?
UK was horrible this year, but when their starting QB was healthy they pummeled Kent State. Kent State would have beaten Purdue and Indiana.
OSU under Meyer will continue to do much better than the years before, and I see the Buckeyes as being one of the prime schools again whenever NC is mentioned.
They lost by 42 to an Arkansas team that had an awful year. They lost by ~40 to Vandy and UF getting shut out both times, and lost in OT to WKU. They lost to USC worse than Michigan did, and lost to bad to mediocre Mizzou and UT teams by 20 or more in both cases.
Yeah, they had issues staying healthy, but the composite 42nd ranked class doesn't take you from 2-10 to a contender, Timmons or not. They've put some nice pieces together, but to think they'll be able to consistently compete in their division next year or even in 3 years, is by any account, extremely optimistic.
funny when some posters reply more on a Timmons thread, than the people they say aren't putting Timmons into proper prospective.
Where I come from, they call that trying to fan the flames.
well now WC, I won't defend UK's record. They are not that good man!
I do think they will get better, especially after getting Timmons and some other recruits, but I think UK will still struggle against their better conference foes.
I hear ya Looks like they have a good shot at getting HTcher from USC and one other 4*. That will make nine 4 stars this yeAr. It will bring them to #21. Not a bad start for a coach hired in December
You have got to be kidding me, UK is a joke.
Even when UK was good, they still weren't that good. Florida typically destroys them, the one time they held it pretty close is the game Tebow went out with the concussion. They have upset LSU once when LSU won the title that year. They were close with Florida one time, when Tebow went out with a concussion. I remember in 09 they were excited because Bama Beat them 38-20. That same year, the week before Florida crushed them 41-7. As horrible as Tennessee has been, UK has only beat them 1 time in over 30 years. They still don't be South Carolina. Routinely lose to the Mississippi schools.
Sometimes they have 1 or 2 games they have no business competing in and they make them close or pull of an upset. So does Purdue or Illinois.
Best of luck to Ryan, he'll be a beast.
I lived in Lexington for several years and have friends who are die-hard UK football & basketball fans. Success for Kentucky football is becoming bowl eligible. Their ceiling is probably 8 wins in a season.
I think it is the best place for him. He doesn't have the same quality of people vying for playing time and therefore give him the ball more to make plays. He is a boom or bust type player which means he needs to get the ball a lot. He will at Kentucky and he can be a star there.
Best of luck to the kid! Hopefully, he will take his great production and the Timmons threads with him to UK.
And now Jason Hatcher (from the same HS as James Quick) decommits from USC and chooses UK. I wonder if/how Timmons' picking UK played into Hatcher's decision to drop USC and stay home.
None. And if it did, he's an idiot.
EDIT: Just clarifying, I think it has more to do with a culture change, and seeing that Stoops is upping the kind of players UK is bringing in in general, and not tied to bringing in the 284th ranked player in the country. After reading my original post, I realize it sounded kinda dickish.
Or it could've been the dumpster fire Lane Kiffin has set ablaze @ USC that caused his change of heart.
Hatcher was his first call
Timmons will go to UK... Start 4 years... And end up in the NFL... I don't think we will see any heisman talk, but he will be a solid college football player.
I think he will at least be a solid contributer. Maybe not year one, that is not easy even on a team like UK, but he'll contribute heavily.
Oh UK basketball fans thinking they know something about football. Just had a guy say wow a football recruit chose UK over Florida and Ohio State!!!!!!! I just responded, kind of but not really.
Everything I read UF wanted him to sign. It may mean Clark is OSU bound.
It was still pretty clear that Ohio State didn't though. Especially, with Smith and Wilson joining the class. There wasn't a scholarship here for him. If Clark comes to Ohio State, I'll buy that Florida wanted him to sign.
Best of luck at UK Ryan, I wish you could have made the cut.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
my condolences Waycracken
good luck Timmons seems like a high character kid who really wanted to play in the shoe
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
Good luck Timmons. We hardly knew ye. No Timbits for you at Kentucky.
