Maybe I'm wrong, but this just doesn't feel right. If all these kids were that sold on OleMiss then more power to them. I just have a funny feeling about all these major top recruits all of the sudden being sold on OleMiss. I know Nkemdichies brother is at OleMiss but come on!! Let me guess OleMiss offered money to their fathers like Auburn did with Cam Newton, but these kids had no clue?!

there are a number of factors that i can think of...these guys have spent a lot of time together at camps, all star games, etc. they are probably sick of seeing alabama win, and wanted to make waves and start a revolution (so to speak) kind of like how Barker, McMillan and those guys have said they want to play together. is it that hard to accept that the coach and school did a great job recruiting?
That's what everybody said on the movie Blue Chips also. But yea it is hard to believe that they magically all of the sudden can pull in this many big time recruits.
you just compared real life to a movie...cmon
C'mon Man!
Fixed this for you.
Dan, there's no place for logic or reasonable responses here! They definitely had to cheat!

It is definitely a bit fishy, but it may just be a matter of many things falling in to place at once for this to happen. Nkemdiche's brother plays there.. check. I believe Treadwell has a former teammate there.. check. Conner is from in-state.. check. Other recruits see it as a hot spot then because highly-recruited players are strongly considering/have already committed there.
It became the "it" place, apparently, among many recruits, along with the fact that Freeze must be a pretty darn good salesman. Add to the fact that there are many, many opportunities to play early at Ole Miss, and it all begins to come together.
I'm not saying I believe it is all on the "up and up" but it's not that surprising when you consider the extenuating circumstances. Plus, many have said the campus/gameday atmosphere/etc. there is something else, so getting many of those players to visit may have just created the stir and it has continued right through signing day.
It'll be interesting to see how it works out on the field, and if this recruiting frenzy can continue.

Wasn't Ole Miss the school that was named in the Cam Newton saga? I remember they said a school offered a bag of cash for Cam, but he chose Auburn instead. Pretty sure that bag of cash was said to be offered by Ole Miss.
No Miss State
vacuuming sucks
Miss State, not Ole Miss.
Gotcha, thanks.
I agree.. I mean I didn't even know ole miss was a school let alone a football team untill recently.. Well that's a lie.. Just a figure of speech so to speak.. But honestly, something has to be going on down there..I can see nkemdichie's reason for going, unless these guys secretly made a pact to go together, which I highly doubt..

I've said this many times....OSU fans should be the last group to speculate and make assumptions. We would all get more than irritated at all the assumptions other fanbases mades towards us during our issues last year. Only time will tell, but for now why can't we just accept that the coaches worked hard to get these players and/or these players all developed a bond during camps that led to this great class.
Because Tressel really did lie. And because the players really did mess up.
1) Not sure who downvoted you, what you said is correct.
2) My point was with the other "allegations" that ended up being nothing. My point was that everyone made the jump that free tattoos made all our players run 4.4 40's and tackle better and was the reason we are always so good...nevermind good coaching and hard work.
All I'm saying is that we as a fanbase should be the last group to jump on the assumption bandwagon.
Ive heard they have a lot of lady talent..cant hurt
I think college recruiting has gotten like PEDs, the time to give the benefit of the doubt is gone. And that's a shame, but it is what it is. I think something is fishy until I'm proven otherwise. That's the way this topic has gotten in the court of public opinion, guilty until proven innocent.

I think the fact they're SEC schools has more to do with it than anything else. Even UK is recruiting well.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest.Civil.War.Analogy.Ever
Last I saw UK was like 40th. That's not bad but not good either. All they have to fall back on is their affiliation with the SEC. From a facilities standpoint they are inferior to most Big Ten teams because at UK basketball is king and football will always get basketball leftovers.
UK is seriously lacking in facilities and budget and support, but new coach Stoops found some great gems (Timmons, etc.) that fell through the cracks at other schools and is putting together the start of a quality program.
Stoops also pushed the UK administration to pour more money into the football program. We'll see how that works out in the next 5 years.

Ole Miss has definitely reeled in some big fish today. I would not be shocked if the NCAA uncovers some shifty stuff down the road and Ole Miss ends up screwing the big fish reeled in today. That's how they do it in the dirty dirty south.
is that a pair of balls on that fish?

The real question I have is, yeah Ole Miss is bringing in all these top guys, but will it matter? Is it gonna help them compete? What can we really expect from them? Do they reach a BCS game now or do they still finish 4th or lower in their division?
This is pure speculation and opinion, but these commitments do make you wonder. I know Ole Miss has had some success in football, but they got a lot of top notch kids, with many of them late in the process. Fair or not, the problem they are fighting is with the long and storied history of recruiting violations in college football. I am not judging them, but to be honest, it did make me look twice.
With that being said, I am hoping that everything they did is on the up and up. I hope they recruited every player within the NCAA rules and did it right. After going through all of our problems and violations, I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
I think they paid them, and I'll say I think they paid them, but it doesn't mean squat coming from me.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
Everybody in the media is making a big deal about Ole Miss. Yes, they've laid a solid foundation. But, they will have to do this for another 3 years to compete for a league title, let alone anything more.
Also, most of their top recruits are announcing late here on signing day...so it's a late momentum push. Look at the body of work and other schools have better classes, including tOSU, obviously.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
I don't necessarily agree. 1/3 of their roster is home grown, and they've cherry picked a few guys from other southern states. Laquon Treadwell should have gone to a Big Ten school, but it looks like he was only recruited by 3 of them and none of those were Illinois. I'd worry more about Vanderbilt being in the top-20.
I highly disagree with something being fishy at Ole Miss.
Ole Miss is in the SEC, so it's prolly attractive to some of those southern boys. In 2011, Ole Miss had the #18 class, in 2012 they had the #42 class, according to 247 sports. In 2011, the landed the top 3 prospects in the state and in 2012, the landed the #1 prospect while Mississippi State landed the rest with 1 going to LSU.
Nkemdiche has a brother that is playing. Treadwell is best friends with Anthony Standifer/old HS teammate. Conner is a Mississippi guy and has been thought to be Ole Miss bound since day 1 of his recruitment. Tunsil most likely saw plenty of playing time and wanted to jump on the bandwagon. Id be worried if he was from like out west or something, but not from the south. Lavon Hooks, the #1 JUCO prospect went to Northeast Mississippi CC. Austin Golson most likely saw immediate playing time and wanted to jump upon the band wagon, even though he was always soft on his commitment to Florida State. Then when it comes to Nickolas Brassell, he was a highly considered WR out of Ole Miss back in 2011 when he committed, so him staying with Ole Miss shouldnt be anything suprising. Then Kalio Moore and Jordan Wilkins were both always high on Ole Miss. 1 being from Mississippi and 1 from Tennessee. Ole Miss has a very solid class outside of these kids and if you sit down and pick each kid apart, you realize that Ole Miss just had alot fall there way this recruiting cycle.
so do i think something fishy is going on? no......... there prolly just tired of seeing Bama win everything. I cant blame them
#Buckeyes
The Ole Miss coach was on the SVP radio show today, and he said a lot of what you've said in your post. There are a lot of personal connections there with a lot of these athletes, and the coach seemed very candid in the interview. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here.
Let's not forget the recruit who committed to Ole Miss tweeting the picture of a wad of cash in his hand.
“Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect.” - Woody
I wouldnt go so far as to accuse them of anything because I dont have any proof but I wouldnt bet my paycheck that they wont be under sanctions in the next 4 years either.
Is it possible that they compiled this talented recruiting class on the level and legal? "Yes, its POSSIBLE". POSSIBLE, like you are the only male in your house, listen to country music and you come home after a 3 day business trip to find rap music in the CD player and the toilet seat up in your master bathroom. Its POSSIBLE your wife was just cleaning and the music was a workout cd. Thats about how POSSIBLE I think that is.lol
I dont buy the "tired of seeing Bama win" reason for going to Ole Miss. If you were tired of seeing Bama win you would go to a school that has enough talent in place with your current class added to it that it could compete with Bama and I have bad news for these young men, Ole Miss isnt it.
I really like their new coach, the Grove is an awesome college game day environment and I dont have any proof to accuse them of anything but Im not going to act like I cant see that big cloud of smoke over Oxford, Miss.
Cadillacs they all got Cadillacs!!!!!!!!!!!
And that's a fact JACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Nevertheless, the recruiting class that Ole Miss (still can't shake the civil war repercussions) put together is highly unexpected, so this will get scrutiny for that reason if none others.
I believe in innocent until proven guilty. That being said Ole Miss seems about as innocent as O.J.
Don't cook bacon in the nude.
is everyone failing to see the obvious......Its the cool ass mascot, best in the SEC. lets not be hatters. come on people were all fans here. Get real or get outta the way.

I was so upset when they didn't go with Akbar. They made me think they might actually do it. It was a tra...vesty.

XC, the Akbar campaign certainly got pretty close. George Lucas was the one who put the kibosh on it.

The Treadwell tweet, the last minute push from a below a 15th spot on most recruiting websites, and now with the coach putting out his own tweet about the compliance dept. all seems fishy to me.
However....if you look at our situation last year...we went from out of the top 25 to a top 3-5 class depending on where you look. Just saying....

Ouch, that is some balls right there. He seems confident that there was nothing wrong done. I felt this was fishy, but have backed away from the whole thing now. It is reasonable given what recruits came from where.
